Lyrica for gad

Common Questions and Answers about Lyrica for gad

lyrica

398624 tn?1266269449 Lyrica is prescribed for GAD. It could work for you. I have no personal experience with this med. Hydroxyzine Pamoate is interesting. Haven't heard about it before. It is unrelated chemically to the benzodiazepines but works to suppress certain regions of the subcortical area of the CNS(which is the area of the brain associated with anxiety par exellance!) Yes, very interesting. I will certainly read more about this drug. Don't have the time right now.
Avatar n tn s analgetic properties(against peripheral and central neuropathic pain) but also it is indicated for GAD (not panic attacks) .
Avatar n tn I´ve been having serious problems with GAD for years now, and it has always been charactarazied by lots of psyical symptoms. As of late things seems to have escalated tremendously, and I am now at a point of more or less not being able to get out of bed. For some reason my physical symptoms seems to be worse on my left side (non-parkinsonian tremor and stiffness of fingers).
Avatar m tn told me that Lyrica is more widely used for anxiety than Neurontin. Neurontin is used for major depressive order off label. Lyrica is really effective for GAD.
Avatar f tn While pregabalin, known as "Lyrica" in the States, has unlabeled uses for GAD and SAD, (Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder) it is primarily prescribed here for fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain associated with peripheral neuropathy. Nowhere can I find that it is beneficial for sleep problems, although one of it's side effects IS "fatigue," I don't think that is the desired effect for a sleep aid.
483733 tn?1326798446 I was put on lyrica for my FM ans nerve damage due to my back. It has many side effects of which one is a feeling of being "high". That feeling lasted two weeks then went away. It helped reduce my pain but left me spacey and effected my memory. It affects everyone differently so u may find a different kind of relief. I had to stop lyrica while I awaited approval from my insurance. The second time around, it did nothing for my pain but left me loopy and spacey.
Avatar m tn Also my problem is mainly GAD and mild depression has come with it. Currenlty, I am taking pregabalin for GAD. Wonder drug for me. I am little concerned with it side effects such as infertility and birth defects. Apart from that I am very happy with this med.
Avatar f tn This drug is for the GAD, but not if it's just for the insomnia. If it helps with the GAD it will apparently help with the insomnia, but antidepressants aren't sleep aids. As the above suggests, melatonin is for sleep. A lot of people are put on drugs that have an unwanted side effect of making people sleepy, but that doesn't make it a good choice for sleeplessness.
1255936 tn?1296623461 What is the dose for treatment of such disorders and not just a low dose for sleeping? I hear 25mg is really not high enough to be effective for GAD or anything else other than a sleeping aid (why anyone would take a anti-psych for a sleep aid is beyond me). I hear that 200-300 mg is the dose for treating GAD, BP, and depression. I will be seeing my doc tomorrow to discuss increasing the dosage. Any input from anyone on the "front lines" would be awesome! Cheers!
Avatar f tn As for fibromyalgia, if you do have that, again the Lyrica will help you feel better for it. But I think I'd revisit the allergy idea, and then settle on peripheral neuropathy, which toxin allergy can cause it. I don't know why your neurologist hasn't focused on that, but you could get a second opinion if he thinks you don't have it. The Mayo Clinic website has a good description of it. Hope these ideas help you out.
Avatar m tn I have recently started taking pregabalin for GAD and I can honestly tell that it is a miracle drug for me. It has been a week now since I have started taking 50mg pragabalin after meal. All of my GAD symptoms have gone. I don't feel severe anxiety, constant restlessness (akathesia), social anxiety, muscle tension, depression, panic attack e.t.c. Before that I was taking Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin for sexual side effects, Inderrall for heart palpitation and muscle relaxants everyday.
1423878 tn?1282883632 Asking what is the best medication for anxiety is like asking what is the best color. Everyone is different when it comes to medications. Personally for GAD I would first start with a soft antidepressant like Zoloft which have good success history for GAD. But remember that one drug does not fit all like one size does not fit all.
Avatar f tn HI everyone, I am a 32 year old female who has just had an MRI to check for MS lesions. My doctor put on my notes "GAD if needed." When I went for my MRI the technician said that I may need the dye, but the doctor will come in and look at a couple of scans and let them know. It turns out I didn't need the dye, so I was wondering if this means my scans were clear of any lesions? I assume they only need the dye to get a better look at any lesions they see.
Avatar n tn I am having my second bout with GAD after having relief for 18 years with no medication. I have been taking klonopin on and off for the last year. When I use klonopin it makes me feel like a new person. My concentration is improved I laugh my anxiety is gone and I have a general feeling of well being. I have been taking it everyday for the last two months at .25 mg a day in the morning. I know it does not sound like much but it works for me.
Avatar m tn While Xanax is good for the occasional panic attack, it is not the best drug for GAD over the long haul. Klonopin would be better for the long term control of your anxiety. Most Drs prefer it over the Xanax anyways. If you have to keep bumping the Xanax you will end up on high doses and it will become extremely difficult to come off of.
Avatar m tn I have GAD and have had it all my life.. I had an extremely acute 2 year period and am getting much better etc. I was given the option of SSRI's but preffered to try and live with it.. I have to drive to Nebraska and so one of my many phobias fears is Thunderstorms and Tornadoes etc. So am trying to get past this by educating myself and so I can face my fears. I would love any feedback help.
Avatar n tn lyrica is mostly for nerve pain..I just had fusion...lyrica is of little help..side effects are not great..dizziness, loss of concentration etc..
Avatar m tn She was taking nexium for severe GERD and LPR for 5 years and was very ill. I searched online for an answer...and i found it! Insufficient stomach acid! I took her off nexium (acid blocker) and put her onto betaine HCI with pepsin supplements (to increase stomach acid) and digestive enzyme supplements (to improve digestion). Within weeks GERD and LPR were gone and about 6 months later anxiety and depression issues resolved. You need good levels of stomach acid to absorb essential nutrients!
Avatar m tn Because I rode that damn ride for half my adult life worried every minute of every day that I had a deadly disease. What a waste. Those are YEARS I will NEVER get back. I missed out on so much. Don't do that to yourself. You have this anxiety for a reason and a good therapist will help you figure out why and then help you get rid of it. And for the love of Mike, do NOT Google your symptoms! Those places can turn a stubbed toe into cancer in the blink of an eye!
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me zoloft a few months ago for panic attacks, insomnia, and depression. I only stayed on it for about a week, because the side effects were horrible. Since then I've been having more panic attacks, can't sleep because I'm worried about everything, I get that strange derealization feeling, tightness in my chest. It's at it's worst when I try to sleep. I'm considering counseling, but I really don't want to be put back on meds!
Avatar f tn I was on Lyrica for some time and gained TOO much weight...making me feel worse and ache more....I need something without that side effect....have been on Cymbalta too ....will savella take the place of both?
Avatar n tn I was looking for an alternative and discovered Lyrica, but then I saw the warning about addictive behavior. I don't want anything that will cause that feeling to return ever again. Are there any fellow addicts out there who have had experience with Lyrica?
Avatar m tn Is there anyone out there suffering with GAD and if so do you always seem to feel unusually tired and cannot concentrate well?
Avatar n tn I have heard of links between gluten and autism. Many doctors suggest gluten free diets for children and adults with autism. However, I haven't heard anything about GAD and gluten free diets. Doesn't hurt to try I suppose!
