440728 tn?1234645302 Also, you know the lump I have that the awful endo said was probably not a nodule, but was a thyroid lump. Well can anyone get a lump on the thyroid for no reason at all and it doesn't mean anything or do anything? Or do you only get a lump because it is a sign you do have something wrong with your thyroid? Just wondering on the last bit, because I'm trying to get as much knowledge to be ready to sound like I know what I'm talking about when I go for my scan.
Avatar n tn A goiter is the thyroid enlarged by disease or excess thyroid hormones. Lump/nodule is on or in the thyroid itself. Many people have lumpy bumpy thyroids and never have known it or have any problems at all. A goiter on the other hand can get very painful in pressure and stick out of your neck in a big way. You can have a lump anywhere on the thyroid and even just on one side. Ultrasound is one of the recommended ways of seeing what is going on.
Avatar f tn s, so close ultrasound follow-up is important to recheck this area and determine if FNA biopsy is needed. Usually with levothyroxine treatment, the thyroid size (and often nodule size) will decrease.
Avatar n tn Go back to the doctor. I had the same thing happen to me in the space of a few months and had to have total removal of the thyroid. You don't mention if you had all your thyroid out. It could just be scarring inside which can get a bit lumpy, but only the doctor will know by feeling it for you. Don't wait for advice from the forum. Best to get it checked professionally.
Avatar n tn She also ordered a thyroid ultrasound which showed a mildly heterogeneous thyroid gland without focal nodule. The measurements were: RT 4.7 x 1.7 x 1.2 cm and LT: 4.9 x 1.7 x 1.3 cm. From what I have read all limits are in normal range besides the 4.9 on the LT, which appears to just be very slightly large. Would this be something to worry about?? She said that the slightly heterogeneous meant nothing really other than I have a bumpy thyroid. Does this sound right??
Avatar m tn He said it was bumpy and lumpy. LOL He said it was most likely Follicular Adenoma, but I had atypical cells with crowding and grooves. I am afraid it is cancer. I am set to go into surgery and learned about the Da Vinci Robotic surgery where the surgeon goes underneath your armpit and there is no neck scars, recovery time is minimal and besides an ice pack the next day it seems pretty easy. Has any one had the procedure?
Avatar f tn I have a 3.2 cm. nodule located in my lower left thyroid. I am undergoing a partial thyroidectomy for a suspicious follicular lesion in November. I am waiting for a call back from my doctor on what he'd like me to do, but I recently found a very small pea-sized bump on the far right of my neck (which seems to be out of the realm of where my original thyroid ultrasound took place to figure out my first lump).
Avatar f tn m probably looking at a 1 in 10 chance of cancer and that I probably have a cold nodule. He set me up with an U/S guided FNA biopsy and blood work. And sent me on my way. Needless to say, I wasn't comfortable with his bedside manner and the bomb he dropped on me as if he told me I had an ear infection. Biopsy stated benign. TSH reported normal at 1.7. No T4 or T3 or antibody test done. No details of size. Doctor then stated a follow up in 6 months.
Avatar n tn I recieved very poor care for almost 6years with my thyroid treatment and was hyper had RAI - then hypo . Recently I found another MD that saved me from a situation with Synthyroid - after my meds were controlled - the symptom I had for so long was still present. I felt for the last 4 years a strangling sensation in my neck. I found this forum and stared asking what to do - Many suggested getting an Ultra Sound. SOme here were shocked I never had one since RAI 5 years ago.
Avatar m tn My mom had an enlarged thyroid for many years with normal blood, this was years ago and was never ultrasound - don't think they had it then :) Then overnight it grew to twice it's size and they removed it. I am 43 have normal blood work (TSH T4 T3) but I was having joint pain, fullness feeling in neck area, feeling like was going to get a sore throat and a bit of a cough - but I don't have a cold, ear pain.
Avatar m tn If one has thyroid cancer, the thyroid is removed and the cancer goes with it. Thyroid cancer is the most easily cured cancer there is.
Avatar f tn No calsifications. I the lower part of the thyroid in relation to the nodule there is another smaller sized nodule of 1 cm, similar appearance. There is no increased doppler signal in the nodules. Right gland looks slightly enlarged. No pathologigal glands observed in the neck. R: Nodules in the left glandula thyroidea, further testing required" I find it a little strange that the doctor at home did not see the multinodular thyroid that Mayo has described.
Avatar f tn I have had thyroditis about 20 years ago and was left with small nodule. My last ultrasound reads: "Both thyroid lobes are small measuring up to 3.5 cm in lenght. Parechyma within the mid gland on the right is focally heterogenous, but a discrete nodule is difficult to identify" . My doctor doesn't seem to be concerned. Lately I have hoarse voice, sometimes trouble swallowing food, swollen uvula and pressure in the neck, also swollen glands in the neck.
Avatar f tn nausea was a big symptom for me. Had it for years. Had no idea it was a goiter.
Avatar f tn Each thyroid lobe and Isthmus has solid nodles, see above Electronically signed and reviewed by :

Avatar n tn January 2014 I went to my gyn and she thought she felt a nodule on my thyroid. I had an ultrasound done, results came back that I had a nodule on my left side, she said I should wait until my next yearly visit (1/2015) to check on it again. I did not feel comfortable with that so I went to an (different one than 8 years ago) endocrinologist. Looking at the results he said I did have a nodule and we would check on it again in 6 months.
Avatar f tn m trying the meds, with no results. In the meantime, last Monday I finally had a FNA done on the right nodule, and am waiting for the results. The ENT said if the results of the FNA are normal, then "we just won't worry about the nodules." Easy for him to say!!! I think what I'll do is request to be referred to an endocronologist if I don't get anywhere with the ENT. What do you think?
Avatar f tn He ordered an ultrasound that showed that I have a small heterogeneous solid nodule (5x6x7mm) involving the lower pole of the left lobe. My thyroid is normal size measuring: the right lobe is 4.4 x 1.7 x 1.6 cm and the left lobe is 4.4 x 1.7 x 1,6 cm with the isthmus measuring 3mm. They are suggesting another ultrasound in three months. I am wondering if I should be more concerned and should I see an endocrinologist? Also, what do the U/S results mean?
Avatar f tn History: 43 yo female. During a routine neck exam from my ENT (I went there for a problem in my left ear initially) a nodule was discovered.Ultrasound found: .4cm cyst in upper rt; 2.1cm solid in med to lower rt and a .6cm solid in lower right. Left lower lobe had complex 2.4cm nodule. Blood tests: thyroid function normal. I saw an endocrinologist for 1st time today and have been told to go for repeat ultrasound at different facility, then the dr wants to look at it before ordering a FNB.
4454327 tn?1405203128 Hi. Healthy 45 yr old woman. About 2 months ago while showering, I felt a pea sized nodule, on right side of abdomen, about 2 inches from the belly button. As far as I know, it's not a hernia and I don't have symptoms of one. Are there lymph nodes in that area that can be felt if swollen? There is no pain. I cant see the nodule at all. It is under the skin, so to speak, and maybe under another layer of tissue. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn The isthmus is just the center portion of your thyroid, and apparently the nodule is located on it. The nodule is very large (look at the dimensions of it compared to your left lobe!), mostly solid with a small cystic (fluid-filled) portion, and dense. During the uptake scan, it apparently didn't absorb much of the radioactive iodine, making it a cold nodule. Given its size and the fact that it's "cold", your doctor wants you to have it biopsied to rule out malignancy.
Avatar n tn Mildly heterogeneous left thyroid lobe with sub-5 mm low suspicion mid left lobe thyroid nodule. Recommend attention on ultrasound follow-up in 1 year. Isthmus: No nodule. IMPRESSION: Mildly heterogeneous thyroid gland which can be seen with the sequela of chronic thyroiditis.
Avatar f tn I recently had a thyroid untrasound done and I need help with these results: Isthmus .62cm Right thyroid lobe 5.6x2.4x2.4cm left thryroid lobe 5.1x2.1x1.8 findings: There is heterogeneous echogenicity throught the thyroid gland. There is mild hypervascularity. There is a 1.3 x.7 cm heterogeneous hypoechoic solid nodule along the mid pole of the left lobe There is a 1.4x1.11 cm cystic-solid nodule along the posterior aspect of the mid pole of the left lobe There is a 1.5 x 1.
