Avatar n tn i have a mass on my thryoid i don't know what size my nodule is because i don't know how to add up the measurements my measurements are 1.9x2.2x3.1cm dimension?
Avatar n tn The only thing the uptake test tells you is if the thyroid is actually working or not. A hot nodule is still using iodine, a cold one is not working at all. If the nodule is solid, it is of no particular concern and is only 5-15 % chance of it being cancerous. If you have vascularity, calcifications or irregular borders, then your chances of cancer increase. If there are any other indications in the ultrasound, please list them, and I might be able to help you more.
Avatar f tn Hi all, an ultrasound of my thyroid reveals a small nodule on my left side, but a goiter on my right. Can the right goiter contain cancer without having a nodule on that side?
17020225 tn?1455749597 Can you have a thyroid goiter without having a thyroid disorder such as hashimotos, graves.?
Avatar f tn Hyperplastic nodule left lobe. Goiter NOW HERE IS THE RESULT OF MY ULTRASOUND ON 22 DECEMBER 2015: Comparison: 7/23/2015 thyroid ultrasound. Findings: Right lobe of thyroid 4.7 x 1.4 x 1.9 cm in homogeneous without mass. Left lobe of thyroid 5.0 x 1.4 x 1.7 cm with solid nodule lower pole left lobe of thyroid 1.7 x 0.9 x 1.3 cm with mild vascularity with color Doppler ultrasound. Previous measurement 0.7 x 0.8 x 0.7 cm right review assessment demonstrates 1.7 x 0.8 x 0.7 cm.
Avatar f tn I have just had an ultrasound of my thyroid that was notified because of a goiter. My bloods have come back as normal but the ultrasound said the following.solid nodule on the isthmus, minor hyperaemia. Right lobe normal size but two noduels, dominant one 23x15x17 mm, solid, internal vascularity and calcifications, minor hyperaemia. Left lobe enlarged with multiple nodules largest in upper pole isoechoic, solid with internal vascularity and calcificatinos and hyperaemia.
Avatar f tn 2cm nodule on my left thyroid was a Goiter. I have two smaller nodules (mm) as well. My PCP wants to treat with Synthroid, 125 mg. per day. My endo just had his office call me and tell me to follow up in 6 months, no meds. So far, my blood work has been normal, but in the low end of the normal range. My sister has Hashimotos and is being treated for it. I have many of the Hashi symptoms.
1194684 tn?1264954174 I'm curious to know, what your Endocrinologist has recommend. In most cases, where there is a Goiter without nodules, the patient may be told to keep watch on the goiter to see if it grows and in that case, recommendation to have surgery is suggested. In the case of a multi-nodule Goiter, depending on the "cells" inside of the nodules, watch and wait approach may be recommended.
Avatar f tn I have a visible goiter on the left lobe of my thyroid. When I swallow, there is a lump larger than a quarter that moves up and down. My voice is sometimes hoarse (when talking low) and I had a thyroid ultrasound yesterday. The technician took a long time on the side of the visible goiter. I don't have an appointment until November 4th (2 weeks) and it is with an endocrinologist. My blood work however was normal. Any idea if they will do something to rectify the lump?
Avatar f tn Hi! Just recently I was diagnosed with a small goiter & nodule on the left side. The doctor ordered all of the tests (TSH, T4 and TPO antibody level) and everything came back normal. The biopsy on the nodule is normal as well. Benign and no signs of cancer. My concern now is regarding my goiter & nodule. If my test results are all normal, what caused it to enlarge? What do I do to shrink it? My doctor will not give me anyhing because he said there's nothing wrong with my thyroid.
Avatar n tn 3 cm complex hypoechoic thyroid nodule with both mixed cystic and solid components. This nodule is predominantly cystic. A biopsy of the isthmus nodule was normal. Thyroid scan and uptake finding: Six hour uptake 20.8. Twenty four hour uptake 37.2. I have been on Methimazole since oct 2009. My TSH level have been normal since. My symptoms are lightheadedness, chest pain, feeling sluggish and the feeling of a ball stuck in my throat. (I don't have acid reflux).
Avatar f tn if FNA indicates colloid goiter (benign condition), the the nodule can be observed and monitored. however if it will show rapid growt, surgical removal will be necessary.
491352 tn?1258807095 Multinodular goiter. Dominant left solid nodule. Please correlate clinically with thyroid panel and nuclear medicine scan if not already performed. Nuclear MEdicine Thyroid Scan Dominant solid left thyroid nodule ...There is an ovoid-shaped, fairly large cold defect within the left lobe. Remianing portions of the thyroid gland show uniform tracer uptake. There are no hot nodules. Uptake values at 6 and 24 hours are 18.6% and28.7% respectively. These values are high normal.
Avatar n tn A goiter is the thyroid enlarged by disease or excess thyroid hormones. Lump/nodule is on or in the thyroid itself. Many people have lumpy bumpy thyroids and never have known it or have any problems at all. A goiter on the other hand can get very painful in pressure and stick out of your neck in a big way. You can have a lump anywhere on the thyroid and even just on one side. Ultrasound is one of the recommended ways of seeing what is going on.
Avatar m tn At least 10 solid hpoechoic avascular nodules mesuirng 1cm or less are noted within both lobes of the thyroid gland, including several nodules which have coalesced in the interior left lobe. No Microcalcifications are seen. IMPRESSION: Features consisten with multinodular goiter. Results 2010: The thyroid gland is diffuesly heterogeneous. The right lobe measures 5.2x2.1x2.2cm.
Avatar n tn The largest identifiable nodule is within the right superior thyroid gland with discontinuous peripheral calcifications measuring 3.6 x 3.9 cm. Findings are consistent with multinodular goiter. There is resultant significant narrowing of the proximal tracheal airway at the level of T1-T2, airway measuring 1.5 x 0.5 cm. The subglottic airway measures 2.0 x 1.5 cm. There is no evidence for suprahyoid or infrahyoid cervical lymphadenopathy by size criteria on this noncontrast examination.
Avatar n tn In some cases one lobe can be larger then other due to the nodule, and the ultrasound should should determine if that lobe has nodule or if the doctor just palpated it wrong (it is quite common). The AACE recommended thyroid neck check self exam can can help catch the nodule or swelling right away.
623944 tn?1244035490 Findings consistent with multinodular goiter with a single large nodule measuring 1.4 cm in greatest diameter. Malignancy cannot be excluded and histologic evaluation is recommended.
Avatar f tn t post, a thyroid nodule is different from goiter. A nodule is a small overgrowth of thyroid tissue and extremely common. A goiter is the overall swelling of the thyroid. It's not necessarily a warning sign of hyperthyroidism. Your total T3 is above range, but FREE T3 is a much more informative test. FT4 does look a little high in the range, but not above most ranges. Ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from you own lab report.
Avatar f tn The result of the biopsy in my largest nodule in my thyroid came out to be benign; is there chances that any of my others nodules can be cancer?
Avatar f tn Many small nodules size are usually not posing increased risk of cancer then solitary [only one nodule] is found or if there is a larger nodule [called dominant nodule] is present in addition to the smaller ones. The biopsy is recommended for SOLID nodules larger then 1 cm (AACE, 2006). The small nodules may never grow; if ultrasound had revealed heterogeneous echotexture of the gland, it indicates thyroid inflammation that may lead to nodule formation.
Avatar f tn They can then tell more about the nodule. A goiter can be a group of nodules that swell with the thyroid tissue, or a goiter can be the thyroid itself swelling up....in most cases a goiter is caused by hashimotos thyroiditis (autoimmune disease). Usually a nodule the size of 1cm or bigger is biopsied with ultrasound guidance. I would ask for a Ultrasound not another catscan...as well as the catscan being unnecessary extra radiation. Good luck and let us know what happens.
Avatar m tn I am just confused because I thought a goiter indicated an enlarged thyroid when my overall thyroid is normal. Why would they call this a goiter?
1305311 tn?1273157927 removal of my thyroid gland was suggested from both (ASAP as my thyroid nodule (goiter) could transform in cancerous cells) but I would do everything to avoid it and not to be on pills for the rest of my life. Although, I’m completely clueless… and frightened. Any suggestion or recommendation or alternative treatment known? Mille fois merci!
