Common Questions and Answers about Losing weight while vegetarian

6231275 tn?1379901818 To me losing weight on the vegetarian diet is easy if you have the right mind set and your willing to change! first off I call this the quarter, quarter, half rule. this means when you eat make half the plate greens(any), a quarter a carb(potato, corn, etc), and then the last quarter a protein. I in no way would recommend anything like soy products for various reasons. Some examples of veggie protein are beans(13.4g), seitan(21g), or you could buy a veggie supplement/protein drink.
Avatar f tn I need some help. I am a vegetarian now 11 weeks and I am having a hard time losing weight. How much protein should I be eating a day?
Avatar f tn I joined a gym and exercised for a year but did not lose a single pound. I am a vegetarian. I diet but instead of losing weight, owing to heavy workout and strength training I got slip disk in L4 and L5. I was on complete bed rest. Ever since I have put on weight. I joined a slimming program but there also instead of losing eight I gained 9 pounds. I have tried everything. I do not have thyroid. My PCOS tests were also normal. Still I cannot lose weight.
Dog Hi! Weight gain and loss can be very difficult to explain or understand. It certainly sounds like your calorie intake is less than your calorie outgo--meaning that you should be in negative balance. It may be that your body has entered starvation mode since your calorie restriction is so severe. In starvation mode, your body hangs on to every bit of weight possible. It is also possible that you haven't waited long enough.
Avatar f tn I want to lose 5 kg in one week and my height and weight are 5.4' and 68.5kg.
Avatar f tn It also helps to plan your meals ahead of time so that you know before hand how many calories your going to eat that day. You dont have to eat much of some foods to keep from losing weight. You can purchase the calorie counter book in a paper back at most any book store... Id also suggest that you try eating 1,500to 1,600 calories daily. Most males usually use or burn about 2400 calories daily.
Avatar f tn My doctor recently changed my long acting insulin from lantus 90 units at night, to toujeo 90 units. Since taking toujeo I have gained 8 pound in 3 weeks. I'm so not happy. Lantus I didn't have that problem. I just had hip surgery so I can't move around as much. The doctor is like your making excuses about gaining weight. I follow a vegan vegetarian meal plan I'm not making excuses. I haven't gained weight in two years. I've been losing. She is pissing me off.
Avatar n tn Not a pregnant female (or any other kind) but the mere fact you eat a vegan diet has nothing to do with whether you're eating a healthy diet or one suited to losing weight. You also say you work out, but don't say how much, so it might not have been enough for you to speed up your metabolism. Some people are not suited to vegan or vegetarian diets, and some are -- you might be one of them and you might not be, but most vegans eat according to ideology, not health.
Avatar n tn As a vegetarian I am looking for a good weight loss plan, I haven't honestly forums one yet. I know that I already eat "normal diet" stuff but I am looking to lose 25lbs.....I thought that there might be another vegetarian here with a suggestion.
Avatar n tn However, my weight fluctuates terribly, and have a lot of bloating and now I am suffering with enlarged and tender breasts. I eat a healthy vegetarian diet so why am I having trouble with losing weight.. Is there any supplements or anything I can do to speed up my metabolism?
Avatar n tn As far as exercise, get some weights and do some weight training, or do some push-ups. Cardio is not necessary for losing weight. In fact, I believe that running too much can be bad for you. That's a whole other topic of conversation. Stick to high-intensity workouts for shorter periods & you'll be healthier. Also, remember that it's not what you do at the gym that makes you look/feel great, it's what you do at home in the kitchen that counts.
Avatar n tn By the end of this year and a half, I had plummeted down in weight. At one point, my weight had even hit 87 pounds or so. I realized the vegetarian lifestyle was a terrible choice for me, because my mom was single again and we were tight on money and it seemed there was barely anything I could eat and I had lost so much weight. So instead I opted for a 'as healthy as possible' sort of diet which I guess I still mostly keep.
Avatar n tn 2 years ago i was 210 lbs, i became a vegetarian and an addict to exercies, the thing is its been 12 months that i just keep my weight , and i have became more intense on my workouts, and more strict on my diet, i take a 1200-1300 cal diet, and a 2 hour workout high impact, 80 - 90 mins of cardio and 20-30 min of weight lifting, and about 5 mins of stretching, WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?
Avatar f tn t getting the recommended amount of protein during pregnancy. However, you can have a very healthy pregnancy while being vegetarian, you can find lots of info about proper diet/nutrition online. Its also normal to have not gained any weight that early in pregnancy.
Avatar f tn takes honey and lime juice in evening,,,,m honey at night,,, then also not losing weight,,,iam 33 years old my weight is 70 kg , iam 5ft 2 inch....
Avatar f tn Im fine through out the day as long as i do NOT eat meat. Im losing weight due to only eating fruits and vegetables and im not sure if not getting any protein is harmful. i can imagine it would be but i try to eat nuts and eggs every now and then. Does any one else have this problem?
Avatar n tn Should I be concerned? Because I seem to be losing weight too fast. I heard that anything over 2lbs/wk is dangerous to your health. Should I visit a doctor? This has been my eating plan although sometimes I eat less and sometimes I eat more.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if any of you have successfully lost weight or stayed the same while pregnant. They only thing I plan on doing as far as losing weight is to eat healthy foods and not to overeat like I tend to do and to also excercise. I know if Im prego I shouldnt overdo myself on exercise but light exercise and walking wont hurt! :) I just would like to minimize the chance of getting gestational diabetes or preclampsia while prego! :) Thoughts, opinions, concerns, etc are all welcome!!!
Avatar f tn u really shouldn't try to lose weight while pregnant. but if u get bad morning sickness u may not have a choice. try to keep ur weight the same or if it bugs u talk to ur doc. good luck dear!
