But losing weight isn't different for a vegetarian or non-vegetarian -- you have to find the foods that you metabolize well and digest well, and eat less and avoid what metabolizes to sugar or unhealthy fat storage quickly.
6231275 tn?1379901818 To me losing weight on the vegetarian diet is easy if you have the right mind set and your willing to change! first off I call this the quarter, quarter, half rule. this means when you eat make half the plate greens(any), a quarter a carb(potato, corn, etc), and then the last quarter a protein. I in no way would recommend anything like soy products for various reasons. Some examples of veggie protein are beans(13.4g), seitan(21g), or you could buy a veggie supplement/protein drink.

I need to lose weight badly to make transfers and general life activities easier. I would consider including meat in my diet again (6 year moral-reason vegetarian) if this diet is authentic. If all is accurate and genuine, would it be adviseable for me to begin this diet?

Avatar f tn I joined a gym and exercised for a year but did not lose a single pound. I am a vegetarian. I diet but instead of losing weight, owing to heavy workout and strength training I got slip disk in L4 and L5. I was on complete bed rest. Ever since I have put on weight. I joined a slimming program but there also instead of losing eight I gained 9 pounds. I have tried everything. I do not have thyroid. My PCOS tests were also normal. Still I cannot lose weight.

Avatar n tn Keeping the TSH normal (0.5-2.5) should eliminate any thyroid impact on weight. Most weight gain, even in thyroid patients is not due entirely to the thyroid. It's primarily calories in (and calories out), but having untreated hypothyroidism makes it more difficult.
Avatar n tn I eat very healthy of the time - lots of fruits and veggies and whole grains - though I do overindulge every once in a while. I am vegetarian (well, I eat fish occasionally), but make sure I get tofu and other proteins throughout most of my meals (though I'm not 100% sure I'm getting enough). I usually keep my calories between 1300 - 1600. But I am not losing any weight whatsoever. I weigh 147 on a good day.

Avatar f tn My doctor recently changed my long acting insulin from lantus 90 units at night, to toujeo 90 units. Since taking toujeo I have gained 8 pound in 3 weeks. I'm so not happy. Lantus I didn't have that problem. I just had hip surgery so I can't move around as much. The doctor is like your making excuses about gaining weight. I follow a vegan vegetarian meal plan I'm not making excuses. I haven't gained weight in two years. I've been losing. She is pissing me off.
Dog Hi! Weight gain and loss can be very difficult to explain or understand. It certainly sounds like your calorie intake is less than your calorie outgo--meaning that you should be in negative balance. It may be that your body has entered starvation mode since your calorie restriction is so severe. In starvation mode, your body hangs on to every bit of weight possible. It is also possible that you haven't waited long enough.

I don't have much time to exercise, but I do eat a low calorie(between 1000-1500) vegetarian diet. I would love to weigh 120lbs but havn't been able to get there, I've been trying for 3 years now. I usually eat a scrambled eggwhite with however many glasses of water for breakfast and through out the day I eat fruits and drink as much water as I can and for dinner ibeat something with good proteins like fish or chicken with a side salad. Im semi vegetarian, (ill eat chicken, seafood, turkey, but no other meats).

Avatar n tn Continue with the current regimen that you are on. I would urge you to begin exercising and losing weight. This will probably improve your symptoms and also decrease you cardiovascular risk later in life. Even though, you are a vegetarian, Indian food tends to be high in fats and carbohydrates, and may still put you at risk for developing coronary disease in the future.
Avatar f tn I should add I have always been slightly overweight, I did go down but 10 pounds put me over again. I have started getting active again to start losing weight. This just started happening now never before. So usually at night/early morning/morning I wake up with the intense pain in chest, after working out during day. Pain usually goes away in a day if I dont exercise. Pain is in my chest sometimes back, more on the right side below shoulder though.

Avatar f tn It also helps to plan your meals ahead of time so that you know before hand how many calories your going to eat that day. You dont have to eat much of some foods to keep from losing weight. You can purchase the calorie counter book in a paper back at most any book store... Id also suggest that you try eating 1,500to 1,600 calories daily. Most males usually use or burn about 2400 calories daily.
