Recommend she drink milk shakes to stop the weight loss. Have the Doctor do a scope of her esophagus or check the tonsils area if he has not already.

You probably know that losing weight quickly usually means you gain it back later because it means you have to do something fairly extreme rather than make lasting changes to your diet and how much you exercise. Slow weight loss stays off, quick usually doesn't.

It's good to be healthy but you shouldn't be trying to lose weight, not saying that you are.

Doctors are unable to pin point loss of taste to any reason, but suspect metformin as the issue. We need to solve this at the earliest as my mom is unable to eat & is losing weight. While away at college I started gaining weight again rather rapidly, I thought that the condition may have actually reversed itself and turned into hypothyroidism but after returning to my doctor and having more blood work done I found out that my hormone level had nearly doubled from 2.5 to 4.7.

That is why I take a synthetic hormone for my thyroid now. I took him to the vet where he was tested for hyperthyroidism. This test came back negative. The vet ran tests for feline leukemia, parasites, high protein levels in urine - all tests came back negative. The vet is just as frustrated as I am as my cat continues to lose weigh and there are no indications why.
