I am wondering what is a good type of birth control to take for acne and that will regulate my period, but won't effect my hormones too much?
I have tried mulitple birth control such as ortho-tricyclen and multiple others that I can't remember the names to. They each helped with my acne and to regulate my period significantly but I didn't like taking them.
I have no other symptoms of PCOS except some acne on my chin (but occasional breakouts are not uncommon for me, I have oily skin, plus an expired skin product and eating wheat with my allergy may have caused this). I am a pear shape with thick legs, I don't gain weight in my abdomen, no hair loss or facial hair symptoms. My acne isn't really cystic, just small tiny whiteheads.
Did any of you ONLY have missed periods as a symptom? Should I be concerned?
My gf had not been on birth control for a year or more. She began taking Lo Loestrin Fe on Oct. 20, the first day of her period. The side effects (increased acne, severe anxiety and depression, emotional lability) were so severe for her that she decided to stop before the pack was done. I believe she took roughly 2 weeks and a few days of the pack (maybe 3 weeks total), then quit them because she was so miserable.
I was on Loestrin 1/20 Fe for 2 years and it initially seemed to help the acne, but eventually it got worse. I switched to Estrostep 1/20 for 6 months and it got even worse. Then I switched to Ortho Cyclen in hope that the higher estrogen dosage would help. It has and my face is almost clear after 3 months. However, it has made me gain weight and be bloated all the time. This is not okay, so I definitely need to switch again because I cannot afford to buy all new clothes in the next size up.
Both surgeons told me they do not understand why I have such inflammation per mri and just inject me with steroids. 3 months ago I started on loestrin for perimenopausal sympts that are so severe , including continual sweating , that it was necessary. Since the start of the loestrin , all of my symptoms have been so severe I am missing work . Today my Md. just increased my levothyroxine to 100mcg but did give me the option of the cytomel route. .
I just want to feel better.
The Loestrin helps me but if I miss a pill or am late I get a light period. Today I noticed more pelvic pain while I exercised. Made me think of how acupuncture has helped in the past. Can not afford visits. But if I am better about the Loestrin is helps. I buy nearly 4.5 months worth from a Canadian website for $75.
I am waiting out a surgery to see if any hormone therapy will do the trick because I have to pay out of pocket. The doctor wants me to try loestrin 24 for 3 months. My question is, does anyone have experience with both? I hate to second guess my doctor, but I am wondering how a lower dose can do better for me than Yaz? Also, I have been extremely depressed since a month or two after starting Yaz, and I turned down anti-depressants in hopes that a new medication will help with that.
im eating way more, extremely moody and emotional, i occassionally get really bad stomach cramps. and i dont know if this has anything to do with it but my acne has been really bad for the past 2 months...
i did switch to a new birth control in february, loestrin fe. i dont know if that could cause my period to stop.
and now ive switched again to beyaz. ive been on birth control for a while but i have never gone this long without a period.
BUT from March 20-30 I took antibiotics for a sinus infection. I was still on Loestrin but I stopped taking it March 29th because I hadn't had my period since January 5th and I was feeling pregnant. Anyway, I started bleeding April 1-4. I started my new pills Ortho on April 6th. Now I'm feeling VERY CRAMPY in my stomach. I've just read that some people have gotten pregnant on this pill because it is low estrogen. I'm just wondering...
Hi, i have been on lo loestrin fe for 1 month. Today i am taking second brown pill, which is also the last one...i feel menstrual pain for a few days, but no menstruation. I am worried! Is pregnancy possible if i had intercourse with my bf (while i was on the pill) but he had never ejaculated inside? It is written that lo loestrin fe is protecting you from the first day if u are starting on the first day of your period. Thats how i did. But why is my period not coming?
I started Lo Loestrin Fe oral birth control pill on January 14, 2014 after being off of it since Thanksgiving of 2013. Previously I had constant break-though bleeding (more like a period- for even 2 and a half weeks) and cramps. I switched to Microgestin and that made me so sick I stopped, and then restarted Lo Loestrin Fe.
I have taken it everyday and have never missed a pill.
I'm 19 and have no stds or infections. I just recently started having sex when I married my husband. We used condoms until I got on birth control. I noticed everytime we had sex I had a burning and stinging feeling in my vagina during and after sex but it was bearable. I also felt some deep pain during sex my guess is in my uterus but I don't know new to this stuff. I did get an exam by the gynecologist which caused the deep pain for the rest of the day.
I have been on lo loestrin fe for the past 4 months. This past month I had breakthrough bleeding. I've been told that breakthrough bleeding means that I am not protected anymore, but does that mean that my pills were not working for the entire month prior to breakthrough or just the time after that? Could I have gotten pregnant before breakthrough even if I had taken pills regularly?

I also took lo loestrin for about a month and stopped right before the brown pills because I was also feeling depressed. The day after I stopped I got hives on my back, neck, and stomach around the time that I was supposed to take my brown pill. Not sure if it would happen that quickly but its a possibility.
Hi, I am on lo loestrin fe and i have been on it continuously for about two years and on the birth control I stopped getting my period. On Sunday I was sick and threw up for a while but it was later in the day at least 6 hours after i took my birth control pill. The next day I had vaginal spotting/bleeding and still took my dose at the normal time. It has been three days and I am still lightly spotting. Is there a problem or something I can do?
Thanks! I'm really trying to get this breakthrough bleeding under control, as it is very annoying. I feel like I can't live a normal life...that is why I went on the pill. The loestrin was great for my period (just spotting), but I would spot from day 14 on! I will start FemCon when I finish this pack. Thanks for your thoughts!
