Is loestrin good for acne

Common Questions and Answers about Is loestrin good for acne

loestrin

Avatar f tn My doctor just prescribed me Microgestin 1.5/30, which is generic for Loestrin 1.5/30. I'm a little concerned because I think the lower-dose is 1/20. Hopefully it works out and doesn't cause me too many issues. :/ We'll see..
Avatar n tn I am wondering what is a good type of birth control to take for acne and that will regulate my period, but won't effect my hormones too much? I have tried mulitple birth control such as ortho-tricyclen and multiple others that I can't remember the names to. They each helped with my acne and to regulate my period significantly but I didn't like taking them.
Avatar m tn I have no other symptoms of PCOS except some acne on my chin (but occasional breakouts are not uncommon for me, I have oily skin, plus an expired skin product and eating wheat with my allergy may have caused this). I am a pear shape with thick legs, I don't gain weight in my abdomen, no hair loss or facial hair symptoms. My acne isn't really cystic, just small tiny whiteheads. Did any of you ONLY have missed periods as a symptom? Should I be concerned?
Avatar n tn If she is pregnant, she should also check with her doctor, of course. It is possible that the pills delayed her ovulation and that is the reason for the delayed period. ALSO two things--the side effects become much more tolerable and diminish if you give the pills a little longer AND don't forget about emergency contraception ( eg. Plan B, Next Choice) that is available at most pharmacies without a prescription. Good luck!
Avatar f tn There is not one right answer - would discuss pros/cons with your endo and re-eval if lo-estrin is a good fit.
Avatar f tn Wow, I'm sorry you are going through this. Has your doctor scheduled you for and ultrasound? I would say that's first on the plate, then go ahead and schedule your lap. I can't take hormoness either - they give me AWEFUL migraines!! It's ridiculous! I'm not sure if endo causes weight gain or not. At 15lbs in 2months I would actually be concerned - that's why I asked about the u/s.
Avatar n tn I was on Loestrin 1/20 Fe for 2 years and it initially seemed to help the acne, but eventually it got worse. I switched to Estrostep 1/20 for 6 months and it got even worse. Then I switched to Ortho Cyclen in hope that the higher estrogen dosage would help. It has and my face is almost clear after 3 months. However, it has made me gain weight and be bloated all the time. This is not okay, so I definitely need to switch again because I cannot afford to buy all new clothes in the next size up.
Avatar f tn Give her time to heal from the surgery and give Loestrin time to work. When Loestrin is used continuously to stop your period that is how pain is stopped.
Avatar m tn im eating way more, extremely moody and emotional, i occassionally get really bad stomach cramps. and i dont know if this has anything to do with it but my acne has been really bad for the past 2 months... i did switch to a new birth control in february, loestrin fe. i dont know if that could cause my period to stop. and now ive switched again to beyaz. ive been on birth control for a while but i have never gone this long without a period.
Avatar f tn They will address your cystic acne-which being 23 is going to be very diffuclt to clear up. Once you reach adult hood, acne is harder to treat; but is treatable. Next a dermatologist will be able to give you a skin allergy test. You consuming a lot of soy products could be the issue. We are allergic to a lot of foods we eat, and we dont realize what our bodies are saying to us. When you talk to a dermatologist, make sure to ask them about a disorder called candida.
Avatar f tn I am waiting out a surgery to see if any hormone therapy will do the trick because I have to pay out of pocket. The doctor wants me to try loestrin 24 for 3 months. My question is, does anyone have experience with both? I hate to second guess my doctor, but I am wondering how a lower dose can do better for me than Yaz? Also, I have been extremely depressed since a month or two after starting Yaz, and I turned down anti-depressants in hopes that a new medication will help with that.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Loestrin (generic) for about a year. My doctor gave me the brand as a sample to save some money. I am in week three of the first pack. My period started yesterday. What can cause this early bleeding?
666357 tn?1225318814 nope. should i ask for an increased dose? would that be good?
Avatar n tn So like I said, this is aparently normal when on Loestrin. Im going to go on the generic of Loestrin, Junel Fe, which worked for me in the past and I think its 21 days of the pill and than 7 days of the "period" part. As much as I dread my period, it's a reassuring thing.
Avatar f tn I have been on lo loestrin fe for the past 4 months. This past month I had breakthrough bleeding. I've been told that breakthrough bleeding means that I am not protected anymore, but does that mean that my pills were not working for the entire month prior to breakthrough or just the time after that? Could I have gotten pregnant before breakthrough even if I had taken pills regularly? Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn Somehow I still produce plenty of lubrication its amazing. The only good thing from the birth control is it has cleared up my awful acne. Sex on birth control pills hurts way worse and is not bearable with same pain as before just intensified. Also, what is the point of being on birth control when you can't even get aroused and sex is too painful. I don't like the idea of using birth control that requires me to have to stick something up inside me.
Avatar f tn Thanks! I'm really trying to get this breakthrough bleeding under control, as it is very annoying. I feel like I can't live a normal life...that is why I went on the pill. The loestrin was great for my period (just spotting), but I would spot from day 14 on! I will start FemCon when I finish this pack. Thanks for your thoughts!
Avatar f tn I started Lo Loestrin Fe oral birth control pill on January 14, 2014 after being off of it since Thanksgiving of 2013. Previously I had constant break-though bleeding (more like a period- for even 2 and a half weeks) and cramps. I switched to Microgestin and that made me so sick I stopped, and then restarted Lo Loestrin Fe. I have taken it everyday and have never missed a pill.
Avatar n tn I've been thinking about similar things. My doctor put me on the minipill, which doesn't seem to have the same risks for older patients. I'm not sure that I'll take it until menopause, but for now I feel good about it.
Avatar m tn I have been on Loestrin for about 4 months now, true it is low in hormones but I am taking it continuously for Endometriosis so I haven't had any spotting at all. Loestrin itself means low in estrogen.
Avatar f tn Hello, I've been on birth control since I was 15 (now 23) for ovarian cysts. About a year ago I switched pills from Loestrin 24 fe to Lo Loestrin 24 fe. Within the year I think I've had 2 periods (only lasting a day or so) and a few days of very light spotting. I do know this pill is the lowest dose of hormones you can have with a birth control pill. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn BUT from March 20-30 I took antibiotics for a sinus infection. I was still on Loestrin but I stopped taking it March 29th because I hadn't had my period since January 5th and I was feeling pregnant. Anyway, I started bleeding April 1-4. I started my new pills Ortho on April 6th. Now I'm feeling VERY CRAMPY in my stomach. I've just read that some people have gotten pregnant on this pill because it is low estrogen. I'm just wondering...
Avatar m tn Today i am taking second brown pill, which is also the last one...i feel menstrual pain for a few days, but no menstruation. I am worried! Is pregnancy possible if i had intercourse with my bf (while i was on the pill) but he had never ejaculated inside? It is written that lo loestrin fe is protecting you from the first day if u are starting on the first day of your period. Thats how i did. But why is my period not coming?
Avatar f tn Hey everyone. So this is the story. Last summer, I went on Loestrin Birth Control Pills.I was on it for about three months, then stopped taking it. Since them, I've had bad anxiety/depression. This might sound crazy, but I was wondering if the hormones could have somehow permanently altered my hormones/moods? And if there's anything I can do to reverse it. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
