Avatar m tn Did my 5th injection this week and had a real tough time. Injected on the left side and the plunger wouldn't push. Looked down and saw that the edge of the needle was poking through my skin. Pulled the needle out and then re-injected. Immediately got a big bump and blood. Called a friend of mine who is a nurse and the Pegasys hotline and both said to ice the spot until the bump went down. Took about an hour of ice to make it go down.
Avatar f tn I am making an assumption that even if the syringe and needle were not new the risk would be non existent as the injection was into a muscle and bit a vein. Is my assumption right or am I wrong and while lower than IV risk an IM injection is actually still a risk.

Avatar n tn I am trying to find out the typical numbing proceedures for an avastin injection. Is it mandatory to receive some method of numbing before the injuectoins? Is there ever a case when you would not want to perform this prior to performing the actual injuections?
Avatar f tn This type of injection uses both manual palpation and guided imagery to locate the trigger point. First, the physician will feel around for the trigger point. Then, a needle is inserted into the area. This needle relays information back to a monitor, which the doctor can then look at to guide the needle directly into the trigger point. This method is much more accurate.
Avatar f tn Do not pop pimples, or pierce them with a needle. This spreads bacteria under the skin leading to more spots in the same area, delayed healing time and risk of secondary infection. Look for a spot treatment which can be applied precisely to a small area, ByeByeBlemish make one. If your acne is moderate or severe, see your doctor for a prescription strength acne gel and/or a course of oral antibiotics.
Avatar m tn I used syringes and vials for my injections and pre-filled syringes for the epogen. I'd say don't get too hung up on the 45 degree angle, I injected at between 45 and 90 degrees with closer to 90 degrees with no issues. If you're using the beveled tip needles then yes, the bevel up helps. The first few injections I checked for blood by pulling the plunger back and then just didn't bother after that.

Avatar f tn A question was recently posted about blood after an injection and it got me to thinking that I had questions along that line myself. I have only taken 2 injections so far and I have not done the "draw back" to check for blood before injecting because it seems both of my hands are busy. One is pinching my skin and the other is holding the injector. How do I manage to free a hand to pull the thing back a bit to check for blood before injecting?
