I just had one on Monday and it was not bad at all. I had no lidocaine, and I barely felt the needle poke for the biopsy. It was done by a surgical oncologist, and the whole thing took about 10 minutes. He held the US in one hand, the needle in the other- and was done very quickly.
I am a dentist wimp ( seriously). I would take another FNA over the dentist anyday.

i have been experiening tight throat for the past week. I suffer form generalized anxiety from time to time. I took a benedryl thinking it might be alergies but after i eat it tends to get worse. I don't have a problem eating or drinking.
Is this acid reflux? Or allergies?

A year ago, I had routine knee surgery and when I woke up my throat was sore. The anesthesiologist told me it would be sore for a day or son because she had to use "too big of a tube," she didn't have one that fit down my throat. Oky, well, I didn't think anything of it, but literally two days later I was sicker than a dog. Vomiting so horrible I had to walk around with a trash can!
There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
My dentist gives me my shot and see another patient, by the time he got back to me I was fully numb. and the numbness last for 8 - 12 hours. I am highly allergic to lidocaine it puts me into anaphylactic shock, I have an epipen but sa that I don't have to use that I just make sure everyone is doing their job and I always wear my medic alert bracelet.
For three months, I have been so ill that I have been in and out of the hospital, and they don't have a clue what is wrong. When this started, it was because an anesthesiologist put the wrong size tube down my esophagus instead of my trach, and I got extremely ill. I started having the worst burning pain in my chest and throat that I have ever had. Then, I had explosive vomiting and diahrrea for about a month. At one point, I was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
Thanks for the tips! It seems to have turned into just a really nasty cold at this point. The horrible "swallowing knives" throat seems to have gone away and been replaced by congestion, runny nose, headache, and all the other classic cold symptoms. I've never had a cold start out with such a horrible sore throat before!
I am terrified of needles too and I FELT NOTHING.. They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain.
Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
t look anywhere but up at the ceiling. I was immediately seen and the doctor said I had throat ulcers and gave me lidocaine and a throat x-ray. That helped momentarily, but did not improve the neck problem which quickly spread to my back. I felt as though someone was pushing my back forward and I couldn't bend it, my neck was pulled up and to the side and I couldn't move it.
Hello, My sister needs extensive dental work i.e. root canals and fillings and crowns. She is a heart patient and we are wondering if Lidocaine, EPI, or any of the 'caines' are safe for dental work in heart patients? We do not want to start an arrythmia attack. Any safe meds? Thanks much.
I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with.
I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
i had a lidocaine shot too for a different procedure and I have been having the same proble as well, over the sumer everyday I would get a palpitating feeling in my chest and wondered if it has something to do with that. I do remember when I had the procedure my heart was racing. If you found anything out please let me know-

Not to my knowledge, there is nothing that can cause a positive cocaine result.
t able to eat - you more than likely would hav ea very difficult time taking the pain meds - however, he could have prescribed you a throat/mouth gargle that contains a lidocaine type medication that would help numb your throat and mouth so that maybe you'd at least be able to get some liquids down.
m on my 17th week of interferon and ribavarin and lately my tongue and throat feel dry and very sensitive...like a burning/stinging sensation. The Dr. doesn't say much about it. Matter of fact...pretty much anything..he sums up to side effects. For example...I have these bumpy red spots on my arms, neck and legs. They itch constantly and the surface of my skin has become leathery. My blood panel isn't to far out of whack..except my TSH which is a 45.1...
used cocaine for the first time two weeks ago got allergic reaction,dry throat,dry mouth ,clogged nose,mucus stuck in throat ,hard time swollowing,]acid reflux,went to doctor didnt say i took drugs ,doctor perscribed reflux meds,didnt take them due to side affects ,i am a type 2 diabetic,tighting of stomach as if it may seem like anxiety attack,what should i do please.
Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
Ok so I was just diagnosed with this problem and I can't eat or drink anything. The pain is horrible. Is there anything I can do to suppress the pain just for a couple hours or an,hour just to eat or drink. I havnt actaully eaten in almost 5 days because of this. the hospital let me go last night because they found out what, was causing me pain. All they gave me was Lidocaine 2% 3 bottles for I don't know what reason I guess for my throat because that's what they said I went in for..
