Avatar f tn for six year now i have serious issues with my stomach. right in the middle of my upper abdomen. every few months out of seemingly no where, it begins to hurt, like a stabbing pain. it usually becomes so intense that i am vomiting, and curled up for a few hours 'til it passes. often times the pain does not go away until i puke up bile (which is gross).
Avatar f tn A lidocaine infusion quickly determines if sodium channel blockers will be the right choice for your daughter. It sounds like they are looking for the best way to treat her pain. Nortriptyline as I'm sure you know is a tricyclic antidepressant which is often used to treat pain. I have heard this can be effective. Others will post that will offer other opinions and suggestions. It may be a little slow today as it is Sunday. You say you have been "literally everywhere.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever used a pain patch for their TMJ pain? have some Lidoderm patches, which contain 5% Lidocaine, which I have for my fibaro and spine problems. I just got back from Reno, Nv, which was an 1143 mile round trip. The trip down was fine, but the trip back today was in rain, hail, wind and snow. Needless to say now in more pain than ever. I had a massage while there, concentrated on the head, neck and shoulders. Masseuse commented I had a major major amt of tight muscles and knots.
234449 tn?1429109070 I do abuse Excedrins and Ibupropen due to migraine headaches too so I know my stomach is messed up from that as well. My question is does stomach issues cause severe chest pain? Rib pain? And Such? Please Help. I go to gastrologist in two weeks!
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with. I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
1571533 tn?1322943509 Hi Sandy! My doctor also prescribed me the Lidocaine patch for my hip and lower back. (didn't have neck or upper back pain at that time) They only worked for about a day and they also wouldn't stick to my body but I just found out last week that I tore a ligament in my hip so that my be why they didn't work. I hope your dr.can find the right med that helps with your pain!

Avatar n tn Have had rectal pain for 2 months, thought it was hemorrhoids, GI and family doctors said it wasn't and didn't know what it was from for sure. Said to see a pain management doctor thinking it is a nerve in my recturm? However, I am confused as to what the pain management dr would do since no definite diagnosis. I tried everything over the counter including lidocaine with no relief. The pain is constant and only relief is when I sleep. Worried!!!
383138 tn?1314167773 So when I told him about the pain dr. wanting to do a lidocaine IV infusion for my pain, the cardio. said no because if the lidocaine triggers that type of fast hearbeat again, my heart probably won't survive it, even with medical intervention. It would be done in a hospital with cardiac monitors because the lidocaine does have heart warnings on it for anyone getting it (even with normal hearts).
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar n tn This is a question for your doctor or a pharmacist.
Avatar m tn Hi, six months after my left-side thoracotomy I was yesterday told by my surgeon (USA) that I need to get Lidocaine intercostal nerve-block injections for a persistent pain issue I'm having. Here in my country, Cyprus, though, it's impossible to find someone who has experience in injecting Lidocaine on the thorax. So, my second option is UK, but still I would need to find someone specialized on this type of nerve-block. Any recommendations?
397118 tn?1219762250 If Ibeprphen doesn't help ask your doctor to prescribe Lidocaine patches. They are not addictive and can really help. I've used them for sever knee pain and sciatic pain. They are expensive but last a long time. You can cut the patches up in 3 sections or 4. You only leave them on for 12 hours at a time. And don't get in the shower with them or they blow up like a babies dirty diaper. Anyway, i highly reccommend the Lidocaine patch.
Avatar m tn However, I get phenol shots in my neck for neck pain without lidocaine, which is painful. I will probably never never know what really happened.
306455 tn?1288862071 they work pretty good for me and i have alot of back issues.....they dont kill all the pain but makes it bearable...make sense? lol....love u magi and hope ur feeling better soon....hows the sub working for ya?
Avatar f tn A year ago, I had routine knee surgery and when I woke up my throat was sore. The anesthesiologist told me it would be sore for a day or son because she had to use "too big of a tube," she didn't have one that fit down my throat. Oky, well, I didn't think anything of it, but literally two days later I was sicker than a dog. Vomiting so horrible I had to walk around with a trash can!
14051 tn?1238251732 proposed celiac plexus nerve block using X-ray and lidocaine only for pancreatic cancer pain and to reduce pain killer dependence.. I see alcohol or phenol most often mentioned for this. Anyone know if lidocaine only successful?
Avatar f tn I've been looking for alternatives to narcotics for pain - specifically in one localized area the dr. has called a "trigger spot" in my shoulder. It becomes a big knotted up muscle under my shoulder blade and gets worse when I'm stressed. I've also been told I have tinitus in that shoulder. ANYWAY, I'm currently tapering on suboxone and really need to find alternatives for this pain.
Avatar f tn is pain normal a week after the biopsy shooting pain through the breast not at the site of injection This discussion is related to Painful Stereotactic Core Biopsy.
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Lidocaine blocks conduction of nerve impulses by decreasing neuronal membrane's permeability of sodium ions, which results in inhibition of depolarization and blockade of conduction. Intranasal administration of lidocaine drops requires specific and, for many patients, difficult technique. The dose is 4%solution intranasally.
1264863 tn?1391118193 hi there, go call you physician or dentist and ask for a prescription of benadryl, maalox, and lidocaine. It is commonly known as the "magic mouthwash" and I used to prescribe it all the time for patients going through chemo or had systemic diseases that created chronic apthous ulcers (aka canker sores.) If for some reason you can't get to the dr., use the combination of equal parts liquid benadryl and maalox (or mylanta) gargle and swish for 60 seconds then spit..
Avatar f tn The only thing I experienced was some sleepiness which lasted for about an hour after. My pain level was about a 7 when I got there, but I hadn't taken my morning pain med. It was a 4 when I left, but again, I had been sitting in a comfy recliner with warm blankets, so it's hard to really tell.
Avatar f tn I did a lot of dishes today and went overboard. I fell asleep for a few hours and the pain is quite bad. I am on lidocaine for a cyst on my knee ( a small bump with a bundle of nerves) I wanted it removed, but was told it might open a new can of worms. I mean lidocaine patch. I was on fentanyl patches, ha no way for me. I fell asleep standing up. Not kidding. Hope to hear back. Your plate sure is full!!!!!
Avatar f tn I have had ic for 5 years and also have urolgical pain in and around the vagina area. I use ice packs to calm the pain and have used heating pads. I am on elmiron, take prometrium for hormones which helps with sleep also. I have done bio feedback for pain and urgency. I am considering a vestibulectomy to relieve some of the pelvic pain. Avatar f tn For three months, I have been so ill that I have been in and out of the hospital, and they don't have a clue what is wrong. When this started, it was because an anesthesiologist put the wrong size tube down my esophagus instead of my trach, and I got extremely ill. I started having the worst burning pain in my chest and throat that I have ever had. Then, I had explosive vomiting and diahrrea for about a month. At one point, I was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
