Avatar f tn Anyone tried this therapy? Does it work for you? I told my PA at the PM office yesterday that I was very concerned about my current flare up (Fibro) and our move this week/next weekend. She suggested I go in for this IV and that it could bring me relief for 1-3 weeks. It's expensive, but I NEED to function right now. It's scheduled for tomorrow morning.
383138 tn?1314167773 So when I told him about the pain dr. wanting to do a lidocaine IV infusion for my pain, the cardio. said no because if the lidocaine triggers that type of fast hearbeat again, my heart probably won't survive it, even with medical intervention. It would be done in a hospital with cardiac monitors because the lidocaine does have heart warnings on it for anyone getting it (even with normal hearts).
Avatar f tn I am currently in patient at Methodist - Jefferson Headache Unit for the pain I am having and my body has rejected the DHE! I got violently sick last night . . . . it was horrible. So today my headache is raging :( I cannot take Compozine and other medicines similar since I have been reacting to those as well. Fenergin seems to be tolerable at the moment. . the Lidocaine is on full flow but I am feeling no change since being admitted on Tuesday. PLEASE HELP ME!!
Avatar n tn Also start shivering off and on. For past 3 days I have had chest pain when lying down...chest feels like it is being squeezed. Feel it now in any position but lying down increases the feeling. For past 2 days intense headache. Epinephrine should be out of my system, right? Could the chest pain be caused by days of extreme fear and anxiety? I'm pretty scared and wondering if I'm going to have a stroke. (Am 42, female, non-smoker, normal weight with no heart problems as far as I know.
Avatar f tn Make them have Zofran AND Phenergan ready IV if you need it. Get OFF narcotics as soon as you can by trying Tylenol and Motrin IV. This worked for me, you will be much more alert and feel better sooner. Also, try the Lidocaine patches on your neck instead of the muscle relaxers. They work great and have no side effects. Lastly, realize that it is normal for your head to feel weird after surgery, you may feel pulsating when you change positions...etc. it's all normal and it does subside.
Avatar f tn And then I am allergic to every iv pain med they offer. I had to get my epidural at 4cm and had it going for about 25hrs, which was 2hrs into my labor before I ended up with a c section.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've just stumbled across this forum and think I can offer some answers to your questions :) I have a 6mm Chiari Type 1 Malformation and also suffer from RSD / CRPS as a result of cancer and a serious MVA. So far I haven't had the decompression surgery although I'm a candidate as I'm a bit nervous about it as the Drs here in Australia haven't been able to offer me great percentage chances of success.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever used a pain patch for their TMJ pain? have some Lidoderm patches, which contain 5% Lidocaine, which I have for my fibaro and spine problems. I just got back from Reno, Nv, which was an 1143 mile round trip. The trip down was fine, but the trip back today was in rain, hail, wind and snow. Needless to say now in more pain than ever. I had a massage while there, concentrated on the head, neck and shoulders. Masseuse commented I had a major major amt of tight muscles and knots.
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with. I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
1571533 tn?1322943509 Hi Sandy! My doctor also prescribed me the Lidocaine patch for my hip and lower back. (didn't have neck or upper back pain at that time) They only worked for about a day and they also wouldn't stick to my body but I just found out last week that I tore a ligament in my hip so that my be why they didn't work. I hope your dr.can find the right med that helps with your pain!
Avatar m tn Hi All. I am scheduled for a biopsy and learned that they offer an option not to use IV sedation. I have done many biopsies before, but they routinely use IV anesthetic. I wonder if anybody has experience of a biopsy where they use only local anesthesia around the area of needle stick. Was it too much discomfort? The advantage for me is to be able to drive home by myself and perhaps saving some $$.
Avatar n tn Have had rectal pain for 2 months, thought it was hemorrhoids, GI and family doctors said it wasn't and didn't know what it was from for sure. Said to see a pain management doctor thinking it is a nerve in my recturm? However, I am confused as to what the pain management dr would do since no definite diagnosis. I tried everything over the counter including lidocaine with no relief. The pain is constant and only relief is when I sleep. Worried!!!
Avatar n tn Thank you for your quick response! And thank you for your further investigation. To answer your question, this was her first filling with lidocaine. She had another cavity filled 4 days later that wasn't deep and it was drilled and filled without anesthetic.
Avatar f tn I always have to be premedicated with steroids IV and IV Benadryl before receiving most IV meds. My nursing background has sure come in handy; however never wanted to have to use it on myself.
Avatar f tn The discomfort was manageable, and I did not require any pain medication. The doctor can give you a prescription for pain medication if it is needed. I was able to resume my usual activity the next day, just being a bit more careful and not "bumping" into things or doing any heavy lifting. All in all, I had wonderful care from a great team of doctors and nurses and obviously, the benign results made the entire experience worthwhile.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar n tn This is a question for your doctor or a pharmacist.
Avatar f tn A hip replacement is inevitable, but I hope to manage the pain (which has been getting worse this year) for a while, before facing surgery. I got my first infection on October 1 (16 days ago), hoping for some relief for my daughter's wedding that was on October 10. I regret to say that, so far, I am not feeling much relief at all. I have times that it feels ok, but as usual, after some activity, it is fatigued and sore again.
Avatar m tn Hi, six months after my left-side thoracotomy I was yesterday told by my surgeon (USA) that I need to get Lidocaine intercostal nerve-block injections for a persistent pain issue I'm having. Here in my country, Cyprus, though, it's impossible to find someone who has experience in injecting Lidocaine on the thorax. So, my second option is UK, but still I would need to find someone specialized on this type of nerve-block. Any recommendations?
Avatar m tn However, I get phenol shots in my neck for neck pain without lidocaine, which is painful. I will probably never never know what really happened.
306455 tn?1288862071 they work pretty good for me and i have alot of back issues.....they dont kill all the pain but makes it bearable...make sense? lol....love u magi and hope ur feeling better soon....hows the sub working for ya?
14051 tn?1238251732 proposed celiac plexus nerve block using X-ray and lidocaine only for pancreatic cancer pain and to reduce pain killer dependence.. I see alcohol or phenol most often mentioned for this. Anyone know if lidocaine only successful?
Avatar f tn is pain normal a week after the biopsy shooting pain through the breast not at the site of injection This discussion is related to Painful Stereotactic Core Biopsy.
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Lidocaine blocks conduction of nerve impulses by decreasing neuronal membrane's permeability of sodium ions, which results in inhibition of depolarization and blockade of conduction. Intranasal administration of lidocaine drops requires specific and, for many patients, difficult technique. The dose is 4%solution intranasally.
