Lexapro withdrawal diarrhea

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro withdrawal diarrhea

1288270 tn?1301291212 This either results in fewer withdrawal problems, or the withdrawal happens later down the road, maybe a month later. Lexapro leaves the body quite a bit more quickly, and so you are much more subject to a bad withdrawal by quitting abruptly. None of these should be quit abruptly, but the short half life ones especially so. So ditto with the other posts, do this under the careful monitoring of a psychiatrist who understands withdrawal just in case, though for most it's not that big a deal.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Lexapro, I took it on Wednesday (3 days ago) and in the afternoon had panic. It scared me and so I didn't take another. Three days later I feel weird, no emotions, cold, diarrhea, restless legs. How long will this take to get out of my body?
Avatar n tn at 4 weeks, and after NOT having flu like symptoms, should I consider these symptoms the real flu, or just delayed withdrawal symptoms from the lexapro? I original posted this question for a physicians response. But, then, why should I go to a physician for a response? It was an M.D. who put me on Lexapro 10 years ago, and who refused to allow me to withdraw from it, and it was the internet and a friend who has helped me to withdraw. Further comments from you will be appreciated.
Avatar f tn The first couple years of taking Lexapro I had no side effects. For the last year +, I have had abdominal pain, gas, heartburn & diarrhea almost daily. I have asked my Dr. 3xs if it could be from the Lexapro, but he keeps telling me no. I have a decent diet ~I eat lots of fruit & salad & drink nothing but water. My Dr. just want to give me more med's for the symptoms (prilosec, etc). I take Pepcid and GasX almost every day.
Avatar n tn I attributed it to being in love and having my mind elsewhere, but who knows? POSSIBLE LEXAPRO WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS Just over a month ago, we went on our honeymoon and I completely forgot to bring my pills with me. I was feeling so blissfully happy and relaxed, I decided I probably didn't need them any more, and didn't bother to renew my prescription when I returned home. Thoughts of the friend who died no longer saddened me so much.
Avatar m tn My 25 year old son called me 2 hours ago and told me he has been taking Percocet for the past 2 months. He tried to stop and is having horrible withdrawal symptoms. He is coming to stay with me for the next 4-5 days so I can help him through it. I have no idea what I am up against. He has no insurance and just started a new job so he can't go into any treatment facility. It's up to the two of us. Any advice would be most appreciated.
Avatar n tn i was at work and could not stay awake and just this week have been unable to go to work related to diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pains, restless legs and arms etc. i am still taking the lortab but only about two halfs of the 10/500. at no time during the three years did i ever take more than five pills a day. i do not crave the drug, but find i have to take it to alleviate the symptoms. i hesitate to go to the dr.
Avatar f tn (all in all I probably took 30 pills) From what I've been reading, most people experience withdrawal after months or years of continuous use, or after much higher doses (which is not my case) , but then again, I realize how everyone's body is different, and how we all react differently to pills. Is it possible to experience withdrawal symptoms if I decide to stop relying on the pills?
Avatar f tn maybe a little worse because of the length of time you've been on it. the lexapro can also cause funky withdrawal effects but usually wouldn't last much longer than a week or 2 except in rare cases. best to run it by your doc and see what they think. are you going back on them, or staying off for good?
Avatar n tn I've tried to get off Paxil recently and had the WORST problems. After researching and talking to people who have gotten off (or tried to get off) of the drug I am horrified that Paxil is still being prescribed. I am also AMAZED that a DOCTOR would actually say that this isn't dangerous, or that it isn't the PAXIL!?!? Are you kidding? How much were you paid to say that? Paxil DID help with my panic attacks. Did not cure or stop them, but helped.
Avatar n tn could I die from withdrawal? I guess I need to know if I can do this on my own. I am ready to stop. That I am sure of. I am just scared of the W/D symptoms. I have a wife (and 2 small kids)but I do not want her to know what has happened. I guess it boils down to one question: Should I see my doctor or can I get through this on my own? I just want to do what is best for my health. I am sorry for taking up your time but if you have any advice I would love to hear it. God Bless all of you!
Avatar n tn After I finished the project in mid-may, I decided that I needed to stop using a drug to get through the day, so I tried to just stop taking it. WOW! Serious withdrawal symptoms including joint and muscle pain, stomch issues, fatigue, depression and a strange hollowness in my nerves ensued. I didn't feel I could just stop functioning for a week or two or whatever it would take, so I used some hydrocodone that I had to help me get my tramadol use down to 100mg per day over the course of a week.
Avatar n tn and do the every third day thing for a couple of weeks until the lexapro gets into my system. This withdrawal stuff really freaked me out.
Avatar n tn thanks for the post...the withdrawal from the lexapro was the most horrible thing that I've ever gone through...after going 16 weeks without anything...I basically had a nervous breakdown....my serotonin levels were depleted and all I did was shake and cry hysterically......I finally went into my psychologists office on a crisis call and within 20 minutes he knew what was going on and he contacted my primary care physician and a prescription for prozac was called in...
Avatar n tn nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, restlessness, and leg movements, or jerking.
1325193 tn?1450131036 I really need some help please!! I wrote on here before about my vic withdrawal, but now I have a new demon. I switched to tramadol. Worse mistake of my life. Before I knew it I was lying to my wife about how many I was taking, buying them on the interent, and taking 18-20 a day!!! It all came to a crashing down last Friday when I ran out for almost 18 hours. The withdrawals were intense. I finally got some but now everyone knows.
Avatar n tn I took another Celexa hoping it would stop and all I got was extreme diarrhea. Either way, this sucks. So, I've been dating a paramedic. He suggested taking 5-HTP supplement. What is the verdict on this? Good idea? Bad idea? Just don't take anything? When does this feeling stop? I want to cry. Am I experiencing "normal" side effects?
Avatar n tn Feels like the flu x 10. Bodyaches, restless legs and arms, can't sleep, diarrhea, heart pounding, depression. Sounds like the taper was working. It will get better. Maybe telling a doc? Is that a option for you? Keep posting, You are not alone.
Avatar n tn I still feel somewhat tired from time to time but did start taking vitamins this time around which has helped a lot!!! I am also on Lexapro (for migraine headaches) which I am also thinking is helping me through this and helping with the serotonin levels in my brain. Be sure to take Vitamin B-12 daily, it helps a lot with the energy as well as a good Multi-Vitamin. I have access to Vitamin B-12 injections which I believe has helped a lot with giving me energy during this time around!!
Avatar f tn Ask a question Avatar universal Very scared to start Lexapro and Valium? scared198698 Currently I am in Zoloft withdrawal after having been forced to stop taking it. I took the zoloft on and off for years. Like all SSRIs it's a very nasty drug that I regret ever starting in the first place. I have had some "unexplained" rashes, swelling, rectal bleeding (zoloft induced) and have to stop taking it again.
Avatar n tn My doctor wants me to start Lexapro but he wants me to wait until Zoloft is completely washed from my system. How many days do I have to put up with this ****? Any answers or advise is much appreciated. You know the medical world tells us that you cant become dependant or addicted to these meds but I tend to dissagree the more I read about people having discontinuation syndrome after following doctors orders on a good weening off process.
358304 tn?1409713092 Have been fine. A couple days ago though I missed a dose of my lexapro 10mg for one day but I had no issues that day I missed it and no problems after getting back on track. Now lastnight about 10:30pm my tummy started rolling and felt kinda yucky I had the urge to go to the bathroom and had diarhea lastnight. I took a Klonopin bc I got paranoid about getting the stomach flu. I dread and fear the stomach flu like no other.
Avatar n tn Did you lose your weight after d/c lexapro? I have d/c lexapro also about 1 month ago, but am having frequent dizzy spells. Did you experience any of that after d/c the lexapro?
Avatar f tn I understand that coming off of Paxil is a terrible thing, I have never tried that particular drug myself but weaning off of Lexapro was a mess by itself. Your withdrawl symptoms actually sound like what I felt like when I had a bad reaction to Effexor. I have a week long panic attack along with vomiting and diarrhea. I really hope you stay strong and have success with Zoloft. I tried taking some SSRI's to stabilize my OCD and anxiety but found that I just couldn't tolerate it.
Avatar n tn Some good news - I've been off Lexapro for 5-6 weeks and the miserable withdrawal symptoms are all gone except for some vertigo issues for which my doctor put me on Claritan-D. For about 10 days I thought I was going crazy and had enormous sympathy for people battling mental disorders such as bi-polarism. By the end of two weeks, things were much better. I was very nervous about the depression/anxiety coming back and they have, but in a manageable way.
1478126 tn?1291072975 i have been taking roughly 12-16 lortabs or percocet 5's for the last 10 months. i could use some suggestions on what to do/take to ease the withdrawal symptoms. i started taking a wide spectrum multivitamin today, using imodium every 6 hours, advil for aches, drinking a TON of water, and taking hot baths. i feel like this is a good starting point, but would like to know if anyone else has had success with anything else. i don't have leg pain on RLS.
1910757 tn?1348686919 About two weeks ago, I started getting diarrhea. At first it didn't bother me, because I spend most of my time at home and I just though it would eventually go away like the other adverse effects. Plus, compared to feeling miserable and crying everyday, it was something I could tolerate. However, it hasn't really stopped and my psychiatrist told me it might not go away, and that she wanted to change me to Venlafaxine. Honestly, my first reaction was OH NO, NOT AGAIN. Not another new medication.
444932 tn?1273984397 Why did it take two days after stopping the pills for the withdrawal (if that's what this is) to get so bad? I googled withdrawal symptoms and was linked to a site for suboxone (sp??). Has anyone tried that? Does it work? Is it worth it? I have not told my medical doctor about this b/c I don't want it in my medical records. I don't want my employer to find out. I don't want my family to find out. I just want to deal with this and get it over with.
Avatar m tn I have found that my most difficult days were on days 3 - 4 ,then around 7 - 8 days, then again, around days 12, 13 , even 14. Many of the symptoms you described are part of xanax withdrawal...but I can't speak for diarrhea & sleepy - esp. the sleepy. If you can continue staying at this dose of Xanax for awhile then you can see how you feel... If the symptoms do not level off, I'd call my Dr. to report the side effects...esp, diarrhea....
Avatar n tn I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect. Light headedness, the runs, blood pressure going up, and general fatigue. Lots of fatigue. And some irritability. I am hoping that these symptoms begin to decrease soon. Well, they have gotten better than it was in the first 2 days. I am still wondering how long I can expect to have these side effects of withdrawal?
