Avatar m tn m clear of Gonnorrhea and Clamydia however I tested positive for Mycoplasma Hominis and Mycoplasma Genitalium. I thought these couldn't be acquired by oral sex but I guess they can. I'm now under treatment with Clarithromycin 250mg twice a day for 7 days. I'm awaiting blood test results. My questions are: 1) Howcome I caught MG through oral sex? 2) Are there chances of other STDs? 3) Does MG increase risk of HIV?
Avatar m tn frequent urination, pain in uretha, and dripping/ discharge clear fluid. Doctor did PCR test. Positive ureaplasma and mycoplasma hominis. Gave me levofloxacin, doxycycline and Azithromycin. 7 days levo, 10 days doxy, 2 single dose Azithromycin . 1 week after treatment Ended symptoms came back suddenly. (1 month after risk event). just received culture for uretha swab indicates AB resistant mycoplasma to all antibiotics (AB) except for one doctor has never heard of (myocline?
Avatar f tn Been on 2 months of Antibiotics - tried Clarithromycin, Levofloxacin and Azithromycin. MG PCR results have been pos, neg, pos and then neg again. Symptoms however remain. I've tested negative for all other STDs. Never imagined how painful MG could be. I wish I had known before - would not have had indulged in paid sex. Be careful.
Avatar m tn So far I had totally no symptoms of any of these Stds except the pain and swelling of the left testis and pain in my lower back and groin in same side. The pain is mild and it come and go so not consistent. After finishing the antibiotic course the pain came back and I was prescribed doxycycline for 2 weeks. I made Echography and everything looked normal according to the urologist. The urologist said pain might remain for a while. Its now more than a month and I still feel pain.
Avatar m tn I have read that there are many multi resistant kinds of mycoplasma in China since antibiotics is cheap and easy to get here.
Avatar m tn My recommendation is it wait a couple of weeks since taking your antibiotics, do not have sex with anyone, and then test for Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma and Trichomonas. And here's some copy/paste info for you: Tests are available through LabCorp, they are often not covered by insurance. Mycoplasma/Ureaplasma, Real-Time PCR http://www.labcorp.com/datasets/labcorp/html/chapter/mono/vm003300.htm Number 138778 CPT 87801 Trichomonas vaginalis, Nucleic Acid Amplification (NAA): http://www.
Avatar n tn Also, if you have taken ciprofloxacin of levofloxacin, you can still take Moxifloxacin and have a decent shot of curing the infection, if it’s indeed MG.
Avatar m tn The urologist said pain might remain for a while. Its now more than a month and I still feel pain. I read about Mycoplasma and it might be the reason in case of absence of chlamydia and gonorrhea. I am so concerned and confused about what the reason of all this and whether it is an STD considering the timing(3 weeks after safe sex with prostitute). Do you have any explaination kr advice? I am in serious relation and planning to have kid. Should I wait?
Avatar m tn m in fear of a co-infection with HIV. Mycoplasma Genitalium appears particularly nasty especially compared with Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia.
Avatar f tn One thing though he did right is that he prescribed me a 500mg a day Levofloxacin for week and it almost instantly helped my condition. Although he was a quite friendly doctor, I felt I was more informed than him on STI’s given my research and thanks to this forum archive database. I decided to visit Zack medical as I was informed they are specialists in STI’s and Dr Zack is quite knowledgeable and they run the best pathology tests in town.
Avatar m tn They didnt give me anything so i went back to the gyno , he said everything is fine with my genital area, it must be a UTI, so he gave me levofloxacin , uva ursi and D-mannose. My symptoms got better a little bit, i dont feel like my bladder is going to kill me anytime, but still i need to urinate frequently. After the levofloxacin, i went to a diffenrent urologist, a private one and asked him about interstitial cystitis , but he said that it is a really bad UTI and i should take more uva ursi.

Avatar m tn - Levofloxacin or moxyfloxacin; this might help against mycoplasma - Metronidazole in case I have trichomiasis Please let me know your thoughts.
Avatar m tn There are three main casuses of non-chlamydial non-gonococcal urethritis. These are Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma, and Trichomonas. They are not tested for with the typical battery of STD tests in the US, though they are in some other countries. Tests are available through LabCorp, they are often not covered by insurance. Avatar f tn pain during urination, soreness just below the head on one side of penis, pinching pain after ejaculation (sometimes after peeing), frequently urinating and dripping after I pee, abdominal pain, tingling on right side of body all the way up to my head, testicle discomfort, not really any discharge however my discharge has change when I am sexually aroused a lot more clear watery discharge happens then before and my semen is different no odor but just different then it was, I have tested negative
Avatar m tn After returning to the US, I had tests done again which all came negative, including standard broad spectrum STD testing and even mycoplasma (blood test, not swab) yet symptoms still exist. I have gone through two courses of levofloxacin (30 days) and one course of moxifloxacin (10 days) yet it still persists. The moxifloxacin seemed to have more effectiveness. I've seen several similar posts in this community and hope someone can help or share their experience. Many thanks!
Avatar m tn Clinicians are testing out of protocol out of sheer ignorance and then sending off people with no answers, or worse yet, putting people on 30-60 days of cirpofloxacin and levofloxacin which has no effective cure against MG and only makes Moxifloxacin useless because MG gains resistance from cipro/Levo. Moxifloxacin is still a hope for 70% of the cases. For many due to prior treatment of a flouroquinolone its useless. You options are test full ejaculate and FVU together.
483814 tn?1214311480 Serious and occasionally fatal events, such as hypersensitivity and/or anaphylactic reactions and some of unknown etiology, have been reported in patients receiving therapy with quinolones, including levofloxacin. These reactions may include effects on the liver, including hepatitis, jaundice, and acute hepatic necrosis or failure, and hematologic effects, including agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, and other hematologic abnormalities.
Avatar m tn This Zinnat had no effect and i was at another hospital and a doctor gave me Levofloxacin 500 mg/ 1 per day and Duomox 750/250/ 2 per day, for 7 days, in 3 days the discharge has gone and i took this 2 for 7 days, but this is the week ( 15 may i think ) when the nightmare begun. I started to have awful pains in low back, hips and genitals, fever, chills , i thought i would die. 1 week later i got some brown lumps on soles, and another week later my eyes were very irritated.
Avatar m tn That is an excellent question, since both antibiotics are fluoroquinalones, the same class of drugs. It is not a good idea to take a "lot of these drugs". Tendon rupture and horrible aches and pains for months can result. People have different genetic tolerances. I can tolerate Cipro, for example, however Levofloxacin caused me terrible problems for almost eight months. Getting back to your question the answer is "probably", but not absolutely positively. .
Avatar n tn Careful with Levofloxacin. Sometimes the side effects aren't worth the benefits. I took Levofloxacin to cure a bout of pneumonia. Sure enough, the infection cleared up, but my joints ached so bad I could not raise my arms to take a shower, put my clothes on, bend to tie my shoes, get in and out of a car quickly. Strength training and jogging was out of the question for a month.

Avatar m tn 2 weeks after the last injection the microbioligal sample was negative, but DNA showed gardnerella vaginalis and I took 7 days Levofloxacin. Symptoms persist. I was tested for: * Urine DNA Chlamydia test negative * Urethral swab DNA for Trichomonas, ureaplasma and micoplasa - negative I went to a surgeon for hemorroids who did prostate massage and told me I had problems with the prostate, but 2 months before that my prostate was normal in size on echograph.
