After amoxicillin and endo retreating tooth, it felt better and fever gone, but 2 days after ending antibiotics, infection returned with intensity, spread along jawline into nearby tooth, causing that tooth to then also need a root canal. I was put back on the same dose of amoxicillin, then tried clindamycin for a few days, but infection continued to spread - a large red hot lump (tablespoon sized) formed on my jawline, just under the 2 affected teeth.

Hi. I have been experiencing some really disturbing set of symptoms. I was a healthy and happy 22 year old and now feel almost crippled. I have peripheral neurpathy, horrible anxiety, deppression, nausea, weight loss. I took Levaquin for a UTI infection in November 2009 and didn't have symptoms then. I also had a susequent yeast infection. Do anybody have any idea what could be causing thIs? Thank you and God Bless.
I was given Levaquin 750s paired with Flagyl 500s 3x daily, which seemed to work on the infection but the Levaquin made me panicky and sleepless at night. I had to go off Levaquin because I literally could not sleep. Now I'm on Augmentin XR (1000/62.5 2pills 2x daily) by itself, and although I'm physically feeling better each day (I no longer feel as ill as I did before) the infection is starting to spread, swell and possibly looks like even ooze pus again (from the surgical sites).
I am a heart patient and concerend. Should I be? The DDS (Oral surgeon) said once the tooth is gone..the infection is gone also., Is this true? I am on Augmentin 875 and this has not touched the pain or infection. Thank You so much for helping me with this. I am so scard that i am doing the wrong thing by having this implant at the same time as extration of tooth #7. Lots of $$$$ for another failure.
The prednisone and Medrol would reduce swelling, but would also suppress your immune system allowing an infection to get worse. Whatever infection you have, the antibiotics you have taken so far were insufficient to kill it.
Try going back to your doctor and ask about getting some blood tests done for strep, staph (MRSA), meningitis, and any other possible tough-to-kill bugs your doctor might think of.
I was on Levaquin for 10 days for a sinus infection. Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? Does anyone know if it is possible to still have a kidney infection after rounds of antibiotics like Cipro and Levaquin? Every time I go to the ER they tell me that my urine is free of bacteria but contains white blood cells. I have extreme flank pain and abdominal pain.
I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. I got my breath back after a minute or so and was pretty shaken up by this. I'm very tired but reluctant to go back to sleep if it happens again. I was pretty shaken up. Is this an allergic reaction or a side effect?
History: mother who is diabetic, copd, hypothyroid, has stomach issues excess acid and gout, and had breast cancer a year ago with a few benign tumors removed from breast since.
She has some congestion in chest, low grade fever for 20 days now of 98.8 to 99.9 and extreme fatigue. Fever comes at 2pm every single day, she takes tylonel and it goes away only to come back the next day!
Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
hey docs. i was treated recently for ngu and a testi infection. 750 mg of levaquen for 28 days. but this is what i read. The selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) sertraline (ZOLOFT), widely prescribed for depression, has been associated with a decrease in the effect of levothyroxine. i take zolaft 100 mg daily. i still have testi pain and burning. i am now bieng treated with diflucan for 7 days for a yeast infection. should i be worried. do u think my ngu was wiped out.
I have been fighting a bone infection in my jaw for 6 months - it wasn't identified until this past month but I'd been very sick this whole time. This past month I finally found a good oral surgeon who removed the 2 teeth causing the problem, and cleaned out the bone underneath.
Levaquin isn't used in 90% of the country (if you mean the US) for gonorrhea, but it is used frequently for prostatitis.
And no, gonorrhea wouldn't show up on a pap smear. It would, however, show up on an std test that the doc might have done along with the pap.
You have a clear diagnosis of an infection in your prostate. I would go with that.
Crap I just had a long post and lost the whole thing .Levaquin was a life saver for me and really severe kidney and bladder infections .
Now I have no clue why they would put you on it unless he thought you had some infection .I will see if I can find any WD uses for it but I don't know of any right off .
I would call the doc in the morning and ask what part of wds is it supposed to help with or like pharma said was it a mistake of some kind ?? Let us know what you find out.
figures) They put me on metronetazol 500mg 2x day and Levequin 500mg 1x. on meds for 3 days now, shouldnt the blood in my unrine and stool be going away. how long does it take or should I go to the ER?
I went to the doctor who suggested it could be a bacterial infection, and prescribed me Levaquin. I got tested for every potential STD: HIV, Hep A/B, Syphilis, etc. Now, let's say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose.
Hello about 3 months ago I was prescribed Levaquin for an upper respirtory infection. Well I did experience the normal side effects listed online but then started getted ringing in my ears. I only had a few days left of the medication and didn't realize the ringing wouldn't go away since the doctor told me it was due to an ear infection.
I have been off balance and have had visual problems and anxiety of not feeling right sometimes through the day.
I took Levaquin unfortunately last week to treat a bacterial infection. The infection is gone but now my legs are tingling all the time and are in pain as well. I am wondering how long these side effects last and if there is any way to make them go away sooner. I am also having trouble sleeping now. I wish I knew this before taking this!!!

Hi dr, I thought that I had a sinus infection about a month ago and was treated with levaquin 500 mg for 7 days. Now, the pain is still there an my entire right side is sensitive to heat/cold. Really, it even seems as if the bottom mandible is sensitive, but when he did the tap test on the teeth, the upper #4 was the one hurting. It is my upper #4 tooth, but the pain radiates to my temple, ear, and back to the entire upper mandible. My x-ray showed very little infection/inflamation.
