I am on my third round of anti-biotics for a sinus infection and cannot get any relief. The first round was 14 days (cannot remember name) along with a one week supply of Prednisone. The infection seemed to get better, but came back very strong 3 days after my meds were finished. My head hurt so badly that I was crying and had to use an ice pack to help ease the pain. My doctor gave me Levaquin (10 days), another 7 day supply of Prednisone, and Lortab 10mg.
Flecainide stretches out the QT interval and so do the abx, but put them together and it is much more than a simple 1+1 =2 effect- they actually potentiate each other. Whe I had a sinus infection this winter, they had to look hard for an abx to put me on to treat it. I don't think you have to WEAN off flec like a beta-blocker. They don't work the same way. I would love to come off them for a while and get a chance to separate out some side effects. Let me know what you determine.
Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
I have been fighting a bone infection in my jaw for 6 months - it wasn't identified until this past month but I'd been very sick this whole time. This past month I finally found a good oral surgeon who removed the 2 teeth causing the problem, and cleaned out the bone underneath.
t seem to be eliminating the infection, either. I obviously need to find out exactly what is causing this sinus infection. Can anyone give me tips as to what my next steps should be. I want to ask my family doctor the right questions, get referred to a specialist if necessary, etc. I have decent insurance (knock on wood!) but I don't want to waste time and money running around. We're in Chicago so many types of specialists would be available to me.
Doctor does a strep test that comes back negative. Insists its strep – and that I’m not over the sinus infection. Doctor gives me a shot of penicillin.
June 1st – Throat feels worse. Can barely swallow, and it hurts to turn my head, to speak, to eat, everything. Even when I’m sitting still it’s still uncomfortable. Some of the pus pockets are turning black. I’ve still got drainage. It’s horrible. Also, I’ve returned back home and my sinuses feel a bit of pressure again.
I was on Levaquin for 10 days for a sinus infection. Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.
Doctor prescribed Prednisone,Zithromax, Acyclovir [for cold sores] and Clindamycin cap 300 mg for sinus infection. Just lately I got acid reflux.... hard to swallow... even when I did it was bad... slight burning to severe burning feeling on the left hand side of my mid upper chest area. I went back again to see the doctor who told me the coughing, wheezing [which now both had stopped... nearly completely] from the sinus infection is proobably the causes of it. He now prescribed AdipHex....
Unfortunately I had to start a course of Levaquin for a sinus infection and UTI. I am scheduled to complete the course of Levaquin on Tuesday, February 5. Is it safe to try to get pregnant on Friday, February 8. I have not started any prenatal vitamins, is it foolish to start prenatal vitamins along with the Levaquin or should I have been taking these a few months beforehand?
How long have you had the sinus infection? Do you frequently have problems with your sinuses? Did you mention the vision concern to your doctor when you went on the antibiotics, or is this a new concern?
Old wives tales speak of vinegar helping infections. I'm not sure any one person is going to be able to tell you whether or not it actually works. It's similar to individuals' remedies to hiccups.
So now I'm on Levaquin for 3 weeks for a sinus infection. One of the side effects is tendonitis. I already have tendonits (both wrists) and everything has failed including physical therapy and steroid injections, i was referred to surgeon now as nothing has worked, have an appoint in November. Should I take the levaquin if i already have tendonitis? The sinus infection is bad saw ENT friday and put me on levaquin.
I have had a chest, sinus cold going on four weeks now with intermittent laryngitis. I have been on a course of Levaquin 2 weeks ago and am still sick. Prior to this cold I had another cold and was on a Z pac, can't seem to get any better... Never had a fever, just productive cough raising green phlegm.. Should I be working about my immune system at this point?
I have been treated with 4 different antibiotics for an infection in my sinuses. I began having yellow mucous out of just my right nostril and went to see a doctor on 12/7/09 where I was given a prescription for Omnicef. It caused me not to be able to sleep, so the doctor gave me Zpak. I took that and no changes in the mucous or sinus/ear pain.
Had unprotected oral (only) sex exposure (giving and recvg) 2 months ago. Took 8 days of 400mg Avelox for sinus infection post exposure. Saw Urologist appx 11 days after event with urgency / frequency to urinate, fullness in abdomen, penile discomfort consistent with having to urinate badly. No dischearge and no burning when urinating. Urine sample was clear, rectal prostate exam with secretions showed bacteria in prostate. Diagnosed with prostatitis. I am not sure what (clear) meant?
treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.

I had sinus surgery about 5 months ago and they diagnosed me with psudemonas and no seems to be able to help me, can you?
That may have made me feel the best of all the antibiotics, although I credit Levaquin for clearing up the infection in the flesh in my nose. Doxycycline just made me feel healthy, and gave me endurance.
A couple of weeks ago, a UTI, and with bravery, I faced another dreaded doctor's visit. The nurse asked me how I had gone shopping when I had a UTI. I said compared to how I've felt in the last two years, this is nothing. Seven days of Cipro. Again, I felt better still.
I had a sleep study done and waiting for results. I have had Levaquin 500 mg for 20 days. Then Levaquin 750 mg for 10 days. I still have fever and sinus headaches. The doctor also started me on Mucinex. I do not think it is doing anything at all. My fever varies from 99.9 to 100.5. I am always tired. I don't feel I am getting any answers and I don't want to feel like this anymore.
I was on augmentim for a month. by the end of 2 weeks i felt better, but it was not gone, so I got another 2 weeks. I thought it was gone when I finished, but it came right back.
I got a 10 day treatment of Levaquin from my allergist. I have taken 3 pills. It has helped a little, but not alot. They told me to make an appointment if I did not feel better by Wednesday. Should I be feeling better by now? I do not work anywhere near my allergist so taking time off of work is a problem.
I was on 875 mg of amoxicillin for respritory infection then the day i finished that I was given levaquin for a sinus infection I got while I was on the amoxicillin and now I have an ear infection with discharge and bleeding and the sinus infection is not gone? Is it possible to get all these infections one right after the other while on these anibiotics?
