Crap I just had a long post and lost the whole thing .Levaquin was a life saver for me and really severe kidney and bladder infections .
Now I have no clue why they would put you on it unless he thought you had some infection .I will see if I can find any WD uses for it but I don't know of any right off .
I would call the doc in the morning and ask what part of wds is it supposed to help with or like pharma said was it a mistake of some kind ?? Let us know what you find out.
I had a low-grade fever and was tested for flu even though I had had a shot; negative. I was given a prescription for Levaquin and told only to fill it if I didn't get any better. Well, I didn't. I continued to feel weak and tired, to have a tight chest (had an X-ray, but no report yet), and to have a persistent dry cough. I didn't know what to do.
How do I decide whether or not to take the stronger antibiotic?
I was sick with a upper respiratory infection about 2 weeks ago I went to the doctor he said it was bacterial.
t want to battle with my doctor (who is a huge advocate of levaquin), but it seems that levaquin is not the right direction for me (I am allergic to penicillin), even if I were to develop pneumonia, which, with the corticosteroids, is also an increasing possibility. Do you have any further insight on this for me? Thanks for your help.
I've been on 500mg. of Levaquin for 4 days and I'm having difficulty breathing. Not all the time at times it's just hard to catch my breath without doing anything too physical. Has anyone else had this side effect?

I know this is a guessing game since there is not much research or data dedicated to the cure of this weird but annoying respiratory disorder. I have tried levaquin (long term) it helps for the moment but it comes right back when I stop using the antibiotic. I started having complications using levaquin so I stopped and told my ENT i will never use it again unless it is absolutely necessary.
I had Levaquin 500 mg which I had been given for prostitis a few months back. I took one of these for seven days. I also took 2g of tablet form Zithromax, in one dose, the day after I ended the Levaquin. Yesterday (two days after the Zithromax), while I was urinating, I noticed a white thick discharge in the toilet. When I squeezed my penis, some more milky discarge came out. It looked like a small pile of semen in the toilet.
That may have made me feel the best of all the antibiotics, although I credit Levaquin for clearing up the infection in the flesh in my nose. Doxycycline just made me feel healthy, and gave me endurance.
A couple of weeks ago, a UTI, and with bravery, I faced another dreaded doctor's visit. The nurse asked me how I had gone shopping when I had a UTI. I said compared to how I've felt in the last two years, this is nothing. Seven days of Cipro. Again, I felt better still.
I was on Levaquin for 10 days for a sinus infection. Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? Endodonist said there was pus -- infection. I have had allergic reaction to Levaquin and AzitheraI and have had side effects diarrhea and lightheaded from Cefdinir and Cephalexin so he prescribed Cipro 500mg. Said he doesn't usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
It is most likely to be asthma as asthma can be initiated by a bad respiratory infection, but that must not be assumed for there are a number of lung diseases that can mimic asthma, at least as far as wheezing is concerned. A Pulmonary Function Test and a Chest X-ray and possibly a Methacholine Challenge could bring more certainty to the diagnosis of asthma. I was on 875 mg of amoxicillin for respritory infection then the day i finished that I was given levaquin for a sinus infection I got while I was on the amoxicillin and now I have an ear infection with discharge and bleeding and the sinus infection is not gone? Is it possible to get all these infections one right after the other while on these anibiotics?
I have been treated with 4 different antibiotics for an infection in my sinuses. I began having yellow mucous out of just my right nostril and went to see a doctor on 12/7/09 where I was given a prescription for Omnicef. It caused me not to be able to sleep, so the doctor gave me Zpak. I took that and no changes in the mucous or sinus/ear pain.
I took Tussionex for the first time at 11:00 pm after I took a Levaquin at 10:00 pm. I have bronchitis. I awoke suddenly from my sleep at 2:00 am and had no breath - and could not speak or call my husband although I was trying to say 'help'. Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
Doctor prescribed Prednisone,Zithromax, Acyclovir [for cold sores] and Clindamycin cap 300 mg for sinus infection. Just lately I got acid reflux.... hard to swallow... even when I did it was bad... slight burning to severe burning feeling on the left hand side of my mid upper chest area. hey docs. i was treated recently for ngu and a testi infection. 750 mg of levaquen for 28 days. but this is what i read. The selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) sertraline (ZOLOFT), widely prescribed for depression, has been associated with a decrease in the effect of levothyroxine. i take zolaft 100 mg daily. i still have testi pain and burning. i am now bieng treated with diflucan for 7 days for a yeast infection. should i be worried. do u think my ngu was wiped out.
Infections usually start out as upper respiratory infections, such as from a cold and then travel down into your lungs (lower respiratory infection). Other times it's from getting the flu and a secondary infection sets in, such as pneumonia or acute bronchitis. Other times you could get acute bronchitis from being exposed to a lot of irritants in the air (such as wood dust, heavy pollution etc).
Levaquin isn't used in 90% of the country (if you mean the US) for gonorrhea, but it is used frequently for prostatitis.
And no, gonorrhea wouldn't show up on a pap smear. It would, however, show up on an std test that the doc might have done along with the pap.
You have a clear diagnosis of an infection in your prostate. I would go with that.

I went to the doctor who suggested it could be a bacterial infection, and prescribed me Levaquin. I got tested for every potential STD: HIV, Hep A/B, Syphilis, etc. Now, let's say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose.
Hello about 3 months ago I was prescribed Levaquin for an upper respirtory infection. Well I did experience the normal side effects listed online but then started getted ringing in my ears. I only had a few days left of the medication and didn't realize the ringing wouldn't go away since the doctor told me it was due to an ear infection.
I have been off balance and have had visual problems and anxiety of not feeling right sometimes through the day.
I took Levaquin unfortunately last week to treat a bacterial infection. The infection is gone but now my legs are tingling all the time and are in pain as well. I am wondering how long these side effects last and if there is any way to make them go away sooner. I am also having trouble sleeping now. I wish I knew this before taking this!!!
