Went to the doctors yesterday he did a ultrasound of the prostate and said it did not look inlarged but he said there was some stones in there but that is not a problem. As of right now he gave me more levaquin 500mg this time for 3 weeks. Oh I forgot to add I did get the painful swap in the penis, but after taking antibiotics.They say u will never get a positive result after taking antibiotics.
Was this an std or just a prostate problem
If this was an std will levaquin cure it.
I then decided to go to a Urologist and he check my prostate and told that my problems can be due to a prostate inflamation or infection of the prostate. So, he decide to treat the problem as an prostate infection with a drug call Levaquin.
After the treatment was over I was able to get an erection for a week and ejaculate without pain. Then all of a sudden I could not get erections.
that particular antibiotic is generally prescribed for prostatitis. it's also the cheapest. there are others that are given in once a day dosing called levaquin. did your doctor do a PSA blood test? this is a test to determine if the prostate is overactive and will help rule out other problems. this test was helpful for me because it help my doctor diagnose my prostate cancer before it spreaded. not intended to alarm you!
did he check your prostate to check for bogginess or swelling? your symptoms are classic for prostatitis... I do not fear anything serious.. your symptoms don't even point into the serious direction.. the testicle pain can be a "referred pain" from the prostate... do you have any worries? no, not really... just change your diet.... lots of water to drink... take anti inflammatory like Motrin or Aleve and the testicle pain will stop...
He prescribed me Levaquin and Flomax but i had a bad reaction to Levaquin after just 5-7 days on it (Rash on one shoulder and weak knees).....After coming off the Levaquin my Prostate seemed to be more sensative and i was more Gassy.and more inflamed.
I experienced pain in my underarm Lympnodes and an increase in stomach gas...
i return to the urologist and he tells me...i have Chronic Prostatitis TYPE II and III.....he does not tell me what i should expect with this diagnosis..
t have pain with urination only after urination a dull achy feeling all throughout the urethra and groin area and all of these symptoms come and go, delayed ejaculation with little semen coming out with no pain probably from the inflammed prostate.
Crap I just had a long post and lost the whole thing .Levaquin was a life saver for me and really severe kidney and bladder infections .
Now I have no clue why they would put you on it unless he thought you had some infection .I will see if I can find any WD uses for it but I don't know of any right off .
I would call the doc in the morning and ask what part of wds is it supposed to help with or like pharma said was it a mistake of some kind ?? Let us know what you find out.
I am now on Levaquin 500 mg for 10 days. He sent the urine sample off to the lab for a Cytoplasm test ($220 later), it too was negative. Also has an Ultra sound of my abdomen nothing at all found. The doctors recommendation is a cystoscopy if the antibiotics don't clear whatever this is up. On day 8 now of the levaquin and still having the same symptoms above.
What could this be? Anymore information or knowledge, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I was told by a urologist that prostatitis is an inflamation of the prostate and does not allways have to be an infection. Is prostatitis most often an infection?
I myself have had this on numerous occasions starting at the age of about 22 to 24. I'm almost 45 now and still have this now and than. I'm married to my wife for 19 years and I know that she is faithfull. I know that that I did not get this sexually since I got married at 25. No other partners.
I had prostatitis about 4 years ago. After taking Cipro and Levaquin for about two months, it finally went away. I was fine until just recently when similar symptoms came back. They are much more milder than before, but still bothersome. Primary physician did urinalysis and DRE, and said everything seemed OK, but I could see a urologist if it was still bothering me.
Went to urologist, and he said stream good, but trace blood in urine.
She examines me says prostate is inflamed, bactrim is weak prescribes Levaquin for 30d. 5 days on the Levaquin the penis tip burning went away but testicle pain remained. I finished the levaquin and went back to PCP she examined again and said prostate still inflamed and sent me to a Uro.
Visit with URO was routine, said that he had no doubt that I had prostatitis and that the penis tip burning was a sure sign, he did exam said inflamed. Put me on flomax, no acidic foods or drinks for 30 days.
was prescribed levaquin 500mg for 7 days.
He did say that for 33 my prostate seemed a bit large. He gave me 7 days of Levaquin and sent me on my way incase it was something else.
I was feeling better while on the antibiotics , but shortly after stopping I have been getting the back pain and groin pain in the lymph nodes. Although my need to urinate all the time has not come back.
Should I get a second opinion? I really makes me worried when I am sure something is wrong but dont know what??
I have been diagnosed with prostatitis around 3 weeks ago. I had beed on levaquin for 10 days and several rocephine 1g injection. After 3 weeks of treatment my urologist told me that the infection is gone. Had a urine culture that shows no infection. I dont have any prostatitis symptoms except for the pressure feeling in my rectum.especially when i sit down for a long time.
CPPS can occur at any age. You are young for true prostatitis but as I said, I doubt that is the problem.

I am back with this second question because things are weird with me
As I said before I had a burning sensation in my penis the day after my exposure of receiving oral sex, And it went away after I took doxy and got a shot of antibiotics
My sickness symptoms of cleared up, but now the burning in my penis is back for about 2 weeks now, it is a constant feeling, it feels like my penis is leaking something but its not lea
How can this not be an infection. I went to my Ureologist because I had an appointment with him for my Prostate. He looked at it and said it was a bad skin infection caused by MRSA or something like that. He gave me Clyndamicin and told me to clean it with Hydrogen Peroxide and Neosporin. The symptoms went away in about a week. The whole episode lasted almost 4 weeks. My question is since you are an expert in dermatology:
1 How common is this infection on the penis (Ive never heard of that)?
With no improvement of my symptoms from the advice my urologist gave, 5 days ago I went to a doctor who specializes in STD treatment. He took 3 urethral swabs and so far only has results back for chlamydia and gonorreha which are both negative. At our initial appointment he started me on doxycycline 2 times per day for 2 weeks and same regimine for flagyl. With 5 days of these 2 meds and about 3 weeks of levaquin i don't feel any better. Still discomfort in my urethra with no discharge.
