levaquin and weight loss

Hi. I have been experiencing some really disturbing set of symptoms. I was a healthy and happy 22 year old and now feel almost crippled. I have peripheral neurpathy, horrible anxiety, deppression, nausea, weight loss. I took Levaquin for a UTI infection in November 2009 and didn't have symptoms then. I also had a susequent yeast infection. Do anybody have any idea what could be causing thIs? Thank you and God Bless.

I am a 46 year old caucasian male, height is 6' and weight about 225. For nearly two weeks now I've been experiencing a faint or dull sensation in the lower left quadrant of my abdomen along with like a pulsating or flaring feeling. The pain (2 or 3 on 10 pain scale) is nearly gone when I am up and about, but seems to escalate slightly when laying down. After about five hours of sleep at nigh, I do awake as I feel gas pain.

has to be the levaquin, i am in good health and the only thing added was the levaquin and then cannot walk on rt leg! Dr. ordered crutches for me to keep weight off leg and let it heal and naproxin but i'll use advil or motrin for inflammation. Hoping I recover quickly from this event. Well, I had some issue in my ear, a little bit of pain and a feeling of fullness in right ear, may be some hearing loss as well but not sure. I went to an ENT who diagnosed that I have some infection in ear and gave Levaquin. I took it in the night and I don't remember if I slept immediately after that. Buy what I remember I woke up to a very scary morning. I felt extreme dizziness and spinning sensation. I was struggling to stand up from bed. I vomited and had nausea.

I eventually went to the er and was admitted. A colonoscopy was performed and the GI dr came back and told me that I had Ischemic Colitis. A couple of days later another GI dr came in and stated that there was no way that I could have Ischemic Colitis that I just did not fit the profile. Apparently there is something going on with my colon but no one can seem to agree to anything. They put me on Flagyl, Levaquin, Phenghan, Percocet, along with other things.

Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.

I decided after really thinking about my body is in fairly good shape for my age and I'm not going to worry about this sagging skin on my abdomen. The problem I really do have which is a not that uncommon to women of both perimenopausal and postmenopausal age is hair loss. I've been seeing a dermatologist now for 2 years. Like they say hair is a woman's crowning glory.

My symptoms are severe pain lower back ( around kidneys), weight loss, fever, no energy. My urine output is not good and it is dark. Would the concern with foul smelling breath in this case be that food is rotting in the lungs? He has a permanent feeding tube. I think you are right that the intestine and stomach were swollen and not functioning properly. The food was simply not being absorbed and then ended up going back up the esophagus and coughed out. He did not have a normal bowel movement for 10 days, so that cannot have helped flow through the intestines either. What is the recommended course in such cases?

You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.

s say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose. My question is this: will I still be able to transmit any infection that I may have right now? Or will the Levaquin have made it so I am no longer contagious?

Many antibioitics cause reflux. Levaquin is a strong one and is known to cause problems. I would recommend that you take the Levaquin with dinner tonight (it is supposed to be taken with food) and then enjoy the evening with your husband so you can both monitor your symptoms. If you have the difficulty breathing again, you should go to an ER. Also, if you are an asthmatic, you probably just need to use your inhaler on a regular basis while you get over this infection.

They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.

Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.

I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.

I went to the dr. today and was dx with a UTI. I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? May I ask if Lyrica can cause weight LOSS through making one 'feel' so good they can conquer all and set out to do just that. Over time, losing weight through going like a bee all day long. Feeling of elation I guess I would call it. Can Lyrica cause enlarged spleen and does enlarged spleen bulge when eating. I was put on Lyrica for Neuropathies, coincidentally, when all my gastric issues began.

If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.

I would trust the pharmacist. I have had levaquin and synthroid and it has been fine. They have website that you can search the reaction of medications with each other. Just google it. Good luck!

At this point I still had a bit of swelling in the testicle and spoke with my urologist and was prescribed another course of levaquin. ive taken it for 7 days now and see that i am still having the clear discharge and have some discomfort. also, i was also treated for a mycoplasma pnemonia infection about 3 weeks prior and was given clarithomycin for 10 days. i went to a new doctor, because I just moved out of state, and am waiting the results of a urinalysis.

I am very concerned, as it seems everyday, there is a new symptom. I know that levaquin assaults the CNS, but the photophobia and hearing probs did'nt start til 3 yrs after the levaquin. The ears seem to be aggravated by the vicodin, though it did'nt cause the problem to start with. I obviously have some sort of nerve inflammation from the neck up. Please help ! Thank you!

I went back to doctor and went on another cycle of levaquin. The swelling still remained and the spot remained too, until I took a Q tip and wiped it away myself (lol gross, but it was bothering me). Ever since the second cycle of levaquin I have had the feeling of my throat swelling up, and a sensation of a lump whenever I swallow. I can swallow and breath fine, it just feels like tightness, like I am being choked.

he prescribed me doxycycline and phenazopyridine. I was tested for chlamydia,gonorhea,and trichomaonas, and they all came back negative. I had no sexual intercouse of any kind with the stripper, no ral nothing. I have never had sex before period. Im concerned because they didnt test for herpes. Is there a possibility I have herpes even though theres no visible sores what so ever. Should I go get tested. Or is this just anxiety thats really bothering me.
