Avatar n tn I took all 20 days, eventually recovered from the pneumonia but then suffered tendon pain primarily in my elbows and knees for 2 years. During the time I took the drug, I had a lot of muscle twitching. One year ago I started having random shooting pain that has progressed. Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal.
Avatar f tn Weakness in arms and legs- most profound on left arm, as my left forearm muscle has shrunk and is noticibly atrophic looking. It gets weak and heavy- have noticed this for a couple of yrs, but really bad now. I also have abdominal weakness and cannot feel myself when I push to go to the bathroom..sometimes incomplete bowel movements because I cannot push it out- not constipated, just numb.& weak.
Avatar n tn m still experiencing full body tendonitis, joint pain, muscle pain and weakness, tingling and burning sensations, stabbing pains, and more. The insomnia went away after about 6 weeks for me. I am a 36 year old female, and was very active and physically fit. There are some great forums you can check out on Yahoo that will be helpful to you. All I can tell you is do not take any steroid that is prescribed to you, or it will make it worse.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have been experiencing some really disturbing set of symptoms. I was a healthy and happy 22 year old and now feel almost crippled. I have peripheral neurpathy, horrible anxiety, deppression, nausea, weight loss. I took Levaquin for a UTI infection in November 2009 and didn't have symptoms then. I also had a susequent yeast infection. Do anybody have any idea what could be causing thIs? Thank you and God Bless.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately he also developed the types of pains and muscle weakness you are describing. This was in January and it has been a year without it going away. Cipro is a VERY powerful antibiotic and there are boards on the internet that have many people complaining about their "Cipro poisoning". He had been on Cipro in the past for no more than 7 to 10 days with no side effects. He's had many tests and the doctors just "poo poo" him. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I was told that some people are particularly likely to experience these side effects on Levaquin and that we tend to get hid pretty hard with them. Tell your doctor about every symptom and enlist his/her help in treating them (symptomatically or at the source) and in remembering to prescribe a different drug if there is a next infection. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Elevagted histamine in urine 3x normal amount. Starting antihistamines and H1 and H2 blockers. Possible Mast cell activation disorder? Why woulod immune response continue and I keep feeling worse, aftger Cipro and Diflucan and Nuva ring were discontinued? How is this treated???? I am so exhuasted I cannot function. ALl bloods normal except histamine in urine and malabsorption, ie, Vit B-12, D, anemia. Is IViG indicated?
Avatar m tn I also suffered a loss of balance, muscle bulk, weakness, all symptoms associated with peripheral meuropathy. What can I do to alleviate these symptoms? This discussion is related to Levaquin Reaction.
Avatar f tn Soon after the Levaquin, I developed Neuroathy in both of my feet. My neurologist was surprised, and ordered all types of diagnostic lab work to seek an answer. All labs were either wnl or negative. Do you have any suggestioons for treatment or an answer to how long this will continue to occur. I am a retired hospital pharmacist, and the neuropathy is disableing me.
Avatar f tn While at the Dr, I told him about muscle weakness in arms, legs, tingling, ear probs, numbness in ears, hearing is muffled (ENT dr said auditory nerve inflammation, but does'nt know the cause), numb scalp, numb ears, decreased feeling thruout ,most of my body. Gastro probs, like weakness, can't feel myself go, I feel the urge, have'nt had any accidents, but numb feeling from waist down, & fatigue. He ordered an EMG, and a brain MRI. My EMG showed rt. ulnar nerve damage.
4451049 tn?1387153437 I had periods of blindness and muscle weakness in my arms. Off balance and memory issues. An MRI showed brain lesions. I am better with treatment but I still get lesions on my body. Still have Lyme brain, some balance issues.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).
Avatar n tn I got hit at once diagnosed with both hsv-2 and prostatits. It started 2 months ago. Extreme irriation sensitive tip of penis, and burning. Got tested for stds and came back hsv-2. I then went on acyclovir for 2 weeks, pain still there. Went to urologist, said prostatits. Cipro for 2 weeks still in pain. Then switched to Levaquin for 10 days. While still on the cipro I began to feel mild muscle aches. After 4 days of Levaquin my muscle aches and joint pain increased.
Avatar m tn Hi iam 30 a week ago my body stated twiching and muscle weakness had MRI blood drawn nothing what is happening but a week ago I was strong no symptoms than this what is this please help
Avatar f tn The short answer is that all of the above - hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or other can all cause muscle weakness. Muscle weakness in the muscles you are talking about feeling weakness in, like from pushups (triceps, deltoids, maybe biceps and trapezius) are associated with hypo and hyperthyroidism though, so I think you're on the right track to look in to your thyroid hormone level as a cause, but I can't say it is definitely one of those, or which one it is.
Avatar m tn I have been having intermittement muscle weakness and joint pain for about 2 months now. Have had a spinal tap (negative) and two MRIs - some lesions seen but neuro says they are "insignificant". MS has been ruled out. The only blood tests that have come back abnormal are for active epstein-barr, vitamin d deficiency (level is 10), thyroid underactive and cortisol underactive. I am extremely exhausted and anxious alot of the time.
5759924 tn?1374704061 Been looking for answers for over a year now as to why my muscle weakness has not subsided. My muscle weakness is generalized, my arms, legs, neck, and back. First noticed the weakness when I was washing my hair in the shower, I could barely hold my arms up without feeling over exerted. It all started with lymph node swelling in the left posterior and supraclavicular regions in my neck. The swelling lasted for 5 months so my ENT had one biopsied.
Avatar f tn oops --- I meant to delete "Both" before I hit the send button. Didn't happen obviously... LOL !

Avatar m tn I keep checking my sugar levels before and after I eat to see if there is any significant difference and spikes. The weakness after eating comes and goes for me, but when it does happen it is like you just want to go to sleep..
1523516 tn?1330044257 s my body is still lean and athletic looking, like its always been BUT the signals my brain sends to my muscles are erratic, so a signal to the muscle could one minute be constantly firing and the muscle will spasm or the opposite of that and not get any signal at all so the muscle is not aware its needed and doesn't respond as you expect it too.
4544656 tn?1371593548 from all the information I have read, muscle weakness and hypothyroid are linked and one dr said a lot of fibromyalgia patients were misdiagnosed by not threating the underlying cause, thyroid. Yes I do think if my medication was higher, the muscle pains would have went away. I only became recently aware that my plantar fascitus, joint aches etc was linked to undermedication of thyroid for over a year.
791814 tn?1236891100 Hello everyone, for the past 8 years or so I have been having muscle strength issues and it's getting worse and affecting more parts of my body. Here are some of those issues. Having issues with arm strength, and hand strength. It's hard to hold my arms out or carry heavy items. My hands are really bad, I have a hard time grasping things and typing. All of which includes pain. Now my jaw is having a hard time opening and my tongue is having movement issues with pain.
877337 tn?1249844450 I've read that the thyroid can effect the muscle, giving weakness. My questions are these: Can the thyroid affect the hand? For instance, if I am doing a repetitive movement or holding something for a long moment, would the cramp I am experiencing be related to the thyroid situation? Yes, this has happened in the past but more so or quicker recently.
Avatar n tn The doctor will assess the strength and the muscle, the muscle itself and ask about activity levels. Lisa alludes to multiple reasons and she's so right - it really can be a combo platter (w/out the shrimp, lol).
Avatar n tn hello, i have one question i realy hope someone can help me because the doctors in my country are giveing me differend advices... my child is 9 years old, he got weakness in legs, arms and the right side of his breast is moved inside. he has to swing hes arms first to get them up and he CANT hold them straight forward, he hes no appetite for food. so please if someone has an idea or and advice share it... thanks in advice.
Avatar n tn When I first came on this forum, I had terrible muscle pain, members here advised the Vitamin D and Mag. and it worked like a charm. Be sure to get "Glycinate" two other Magnesiums that are available do nothing for you and may have a laxative effect.
