levaquin muscle pain

I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.

I got hit at once diagnosed with both hsv-2 and prostatits. It started 2 months ago. Extreme irriation sensitive tip of penis, and burning. Got tested for stds and came back hsv-2. I then went on acyclovir for 2 weeks, pain still there. Went to urologist, said prostatits. Cipro for 2 weeks still in pain. Then switched to Levaquin for 10 days. While still on the cipro I began to feel mild muscle aches. After 4 days of Levaquin my muscle aches and joint pain increased.

m still experiencing full body tendonitis, joint pain, muscle pain and weakness, tingling and burning sensations, stabbing pains, and more. The insomnia went away after about 6 weeks for me. I am a 36 year old female, and was very active and physically fit. There are some great forums you can check out on Yahoo that will be helpful to you. All I can tell you is do not take any steroid that is prescribed to you, or it will make it worse.

i started haveing severe symptoms a few days after i started takeing them such as sore joints muscle pain dizzyness extreme fatigue an weakness..now its been 4 days i have been off of them an i got a rally bad sore blister in the roof of my mouth an i have broke out with folicallictitus i feel like i am getting a UTI an i also have been constipated an now my blood pressure is high i am on edge my nerves is bad i dont know what to do..

Good to see his symptoms improving. It could a side effect of levaquin, as this can cause swelling and pain in the joints, this is more so if he is prone for joint/tendon problems such as tendonitis and bursitis. It should resolve once the medication is stopped. Discuss these symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medication. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

After a couple of days I started feeling pain in my upper chest, shoulder, down my right arm and right underarm. The pain feels like a needle is jabbing me. Sometimes the pain will go away and somtimes it is very bad and lasts for weeks at a time. I also have some musle pain in these areas. Can you please help me figure out what to do about this.

I read about the side efects but I had a bad infection and insisted on that specific drug. My problems (muscle pain, tenderness, discomfort) lasted six months after I took the medication, but they did go away. Curiosly Cipro, which is of the same class of drugs, doesn't seem to cause any problems.

They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.

Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now). In looking at the drug interaction information, it seems that those who are taking the corticosteriods, are even more at risk for muscle rupture and more at risk for developing pneumonia.

I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.

I was on levofloxacin (Levaquin) for my Bart, and I had to stop after six weeks when I developed pain in my left achilles heel. I was disappointed as my anxiety pretty much disappeared on it. Levaquin is known to cause tendon rupture, especially in the achilles tendons, even weeks or months after a person stops taking the drug.

I described to him that in addition to the tendon pain I also get extreme muscle stiffness, and fairly regular muscle spasms (my physical therapist often commented that my biceps were very "rope-y"). He told me to try Baclfoen for the stiffness, prior to considering the anti-depressant. I've been on the Baclofen for about 2 weeks now.

I found a post that said that medications from the fluoroquinolone antibiotics (such as Cipro, Levaquin, Tequin, Avelox or Floxin) can cause these symptoms...I took Cipro and Levaquinn about 7 years ago, for a few short days each and my doctor switched the medication saying I was allergic. Now I am wondering if all my symptoms that have gone undiagnosed could be a side effect of those medications. Anyone else able to tie the two together? If so, what can you do to make it better?

I have had a numb scalp (hair loss also, may not be related, but..figure that if I am not possibly getting blood to my scalp, then hair loss makes sense), tinnitus, numb ears, numb face, lack of ability to taste most foods, photophobia is also an issue. I had cervical disc fusion in 10/2008, and wonder if there is a compressed nerve (Neurosurgeon refuses to follow up)..I had bone spurs also and stenosis.

I was having testicular pain 7 weeks ago and the doctor suspected i was having a UTI he prescribe me 7 day 500mh cipro twice a day antibiotic treatment. How during the course of it , i have difficulty in breathing and had dey theoat and mouth which i thought should be the normal side effects of the medication. However after completing the course of the drug , i felt nerve pain on my eyes , thighs , groin area , legs , arms. And muscles weakness.

I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. I eventually figured out it was contributing to my chronic stomach pain. My doc switched me to Levaquin which worked beautifully. I started feeling better within days. About 2-3 months later, I noticed vibrations in my Achilles' tendons, and after a big cramp in one, we stopped the Levaquin. That was over a year ago. I went to a Med-Express for a Sinus Infection and given the choice of an Antibiotic or a round of Steroids, since the Steroids don's always work for me I went with the Antibiotic and was given Leviquin. The PA told me to take it with food because it might make me sick but did not tell me about any other side effects. I want to know why the medical community is not made to go over all possible side effects with the patients before they are given the medication?

I too suffer from Levaquin toxcity ruptured shoulders bicep and now I believe my hip is ruptured I live in pain everyday Nothing they give me completely gets rid of the pain. I am seeing a chiro for Levaquin detox just started so no progress yet this drug should beremoved from the treatment of any matter.

So after googling about mirena side effects i found your post about levaquin. I did not take levaquin but I took nearly 6 rounds of cipro several years ago. The infection I had was nor esponsive to it and no one would listen. I started having joint pain and brain zaps when I was on it and eventually I got SEPSIS. They gave me 4 more weeks of cipro to take home for that. It was awful. I felt like they were trying to kill me.

You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.

My twitching started about 20 month ago after a brief illness (viral maybe). The onset of twitching occurred during my illness, which started in my left tricep and rapidly spread over my whole body within days. The twitching comes and goes in severity and position but seems to be primarily located in my lower calve muscles. I also experience some very mild cramp like sensations in the feet, right hand and left tricep - the sensation feels like the muscle is going to cramp but never does.

My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.

I went to PT today to see why my left shoulder arm are aching and causing non-stop pain. I was afraid it was a frozen shoulder , which I was told I am headed for anyway from the weakness in my left arm and the atrophy . The other option I could think of was a rotator cuff tear. Thankfully she ruled both of those out and said I had brachilis tendinitis. Add this to the slowing resolving pneumonia and fatigue and I doing jimmy-dandy.
