Avatar m tn About six months ago (February and March, 2015) at age 80 I underwent cataract surgery on both eyes. About a month afterwards my doctor recommended that I undergo laser capsulotomy for posterior capsule opacification in both eyes. I have two questions related to this procedure, but, first, I wish to submit some background information on the cataract surgery and its results. After implantation of a "far-distance" IOL (toric) in the left eye, I agreed to use the monovision technique.
162948 tn?1205256292 I had the mirena in for about 13 months & had it removed end of august to try to get pregnant. I had thought it was more immediate. I found out it can take 3-6 months for your cycle to return. my husband and I are pretty bummed because we would have removed it earlier (or never had it put in). Anyway, I bled a few days after removal (probably due to the removal) & then nothing until a couple days of brown spotting at the beginning of this month.
Avatar n tn I can understand your point of view. If you're uncomfortable with the situaton - you should get a second opinion. Don't wait too long, though. I hope you can put the lab rat feelings behind - remember many of the wonderful and life changing medical treatments we have were developed using similar type studies. I wish you the best possible recovery from your BRVO. Sorry, I don't know any retinal specialists in KC, but I'm sure there are several great ones.
233488 tn?1310696703 “Protecting your eyes from the sun is as important as protecting your skin,” said John Hagan, MD, an ophthalmologist in Kansas City, and a clinical correspondent for the Academy. “By wearing UV blocking sunglasses, you can enjoy the summer safely while lowering your risk for potentially blinding eye diseases and tumors.” The longer the exposure to bright light, the greater the risk is. Excessive exposure to UV light reflected off sand, water or pavement can damage the eyes’ front surface.
Avatar m tn I have not been involved in the residency programs in Kansas City for about 15 years but I was active at one time and also familiar with ophthalmology residency requirements. Some did ask if there was a history of poor vision in one eye, strabismus, amblyopia, reduced depth perception or any condition that might handicap perfect depth perception (stereopsis we call it). If so some would not accept the application.
233488 tn?1310696703 If these are present the retinal specialist will often use laser or a freezing treatment to bolster or strengthen these areas. 3. The surgery is done using several special techniques that lower the risk of surgery in the highly myopic. 4. I see the person more often than my regular patients. The myopic patient knows the symptoms of a possible retinal detachment (flashes, sudden increase of floaters, loss of peripheral vision).
Avatar m tn Judging from most of the sad stories here on the forum the pre op measurements and skills required seem to be lacking in those cases. You better live in a big city with top named surgeons and the very latest high tech machines! Good luck.
233488 tn?1310696703 surgical or laser corneal relaxing incisions; toric IOLs or toric mutifocal IOLs; rounding the cornea at time of surgery with brand new (2013) femtosecond laser; post operatively using lasik surgery to remove residual astigmatism. 9. In cases where one eye has a cataract that is symptomatic and causing problems with important functions such as driving, reading, recognizing faces, glare avoidance, etc.
Avatar n tn I have been to Durrie Vision in Kansas City and they had recommended I get an IOL for my RK and most likely have PRK on top of that. I just feel like the LAL would save me from having the PRK. I do understand my case is tougher than a virgin cornea, but I am hoping that having 6 incisions in each eye that my case isn't extremely difficult to fit the LAL IOL between the RK incisions.

Avatar n tn It is a non-surgical fat removal procedure. The substances used in lipo-dissolve are standardized, although providers may use slightly different proportions of the two primary ingredients, which are phosphatidylcholine (PC) and deoxcycholate (DC). This procedure is only available through a physicians care with a treatment program. (Lipotropics) Three amino acids that are essential for the health of your liver.
Avatar n tn I just had my 2nd treatment Friday (upper & lower abs). I was a little sore firday and Saturday, but great today. I have mine done in Kansas City. I think that the person giving the treatment has alot to do with it. It certinly seams this treatment went better then the first. That could be that I did't know what to expect the first time or the individual was better at the injections. What ever, I've made an appointment with Susan for my next round.
Avatar n tn I had one laser treatment but it was a freebie and did nothing (SmartXide Dot laser) I've done all this for well over a year and NOTHING has improved. I look like a 40-year-old with an 80-year-old's arms. I live in Canada, so have more opportunity to cover my arms than someone living in Florida and cover them I do. I am embarrassed by them. I feel shocked when I look in the mirror. So ladies, I empathize fully. If I find a solution, I will post for you all.
Avatar f tn I then went and got Laser Hair removal done on my lower legs and since its been done I haven'rt had a single itch. The girl doing the laser treatment said my hair was growing back at an odd angle every time I shaved and it was causing the irritation and I made it worse by scratching. The relief when I got it done was unreal.
Avatar m tn About all you have control of at this point is to do your research on the surgeons you are considering for the Macular Pucker-membrane removal/Vitrectomy surgery. I went to 4 Retina Specialists before I decided who I wanted to perform my surgery. I asked a lot of questions and did a great deal of reading these forums, etc. ahead. I won't repeat my long story, but 2 years post retina surgery I can see well enough to live out my life happily ...
Avatar f tn The facility offered the full lineup of premium lenses but I never looked into the cost since the cataract surgeon and I had settled on a monofocal. By the way we were in the Kansas City vicinity (Liberty) a few weeks ago as part of a massive road trip. Had to go through St. Louis on the way where the traffic has become "challenging" to put it nicely.
Avatar n tn The oxygen resulted in Retinopathy of prematurity, which was treated with laser surgery to both eyes. He was in hospital for 97 days. My son is now 6 YEARS OLD, & very healthy. He wears glasses only for distance and has never required any other surgeries. He is very intelligent showing no side effects from the brain bleeds. His only-on going treatments are physio and occupational therapy for low muscle tone which may/may not be linked to prematurity.
