Avatar f tn HI There, I had laser hair removal treatment carried out on my legs, underarms and bikini area 4 days ago. Whilst my underarms and bikini are healing well, I have broken out in an "acne" type rash which is itchy on my legs. I have been taking a piriton at night and piriteze during the day and also using sudocrem on my skin. Is there anything else that I can do to alleviate the itch, speed up the healing and prevent any scarring?
Avatar f tn My derm advised me to seek laser hair removal, but now I am worried that laser hair removal will just make matters worse, which I just cannot handle. He said that laser hair removal is superior to electrolysis, but stories like this tell otherwise. I read that IPL damages darker skin tones because it does not do a good job in differentiating melanin in hair follicles and melanin in skin, so it damages the surrounding skin. Did all of you ladies have IPL performed on your skin?
Avatar m tn Laser acne scar removal is one treatment option for shallow scars from acne. It does not work as well on deep scars. In laser surgery for acne scars, a hand-held laser is used to burn off the scarred skin cells. Fresh new skin cells then replace the burned-off ones.

Avatar n tn Rockoff, I am an older primary care physician who has been exclusively practicing primary skin care for five years. I do laser hair removal, photofacial rejuvenation, Acne care, and a number of other primary skin care services. I have a good relationship with the areas Dermatologists and create many referrals for them. At present I am using the Clearlight from Lumenis to treat Acne. Avatar f tn I am in my mid 30's. I have tried laser for hair removal about 4 times over the past 10 years. Each time I have been for between 10-20 sessions. I still have hair, in fact it seems to have got thicker. In addition to this my skin has aged very badly, my skin seems very thin and I have some sagging and wrinkles. And now in my 30's have started getting acne again. Do you think all the different types of laser I have tried has caused my skin to thin?

Avatar n tn I am about to receive the Venus laser treatment (burn to peel skin off) to fight some acne scars, fine lines and large pores. I have received this treatment before and it had an amazing effect on my skin, especially when it came to wrinkles. However some weeks, possibly months after the treatment, I experienced a rather speedy aging of my skin, especially around my eyes, even a little on my forehead.

Avatar f tn Using a face scrub with glycolic acid or salicylic acid 2. trimming the hair instead of plucking or shaving (permanent removal by laser may be an option worth considering 3. Keep the skin moist at all times by using creams and moisturizers. For the scars you could try OTC skin lightening creams/ ointments containing tretinoin, hydroquinone, arbutin, azelaic acid, niacinamid etc. If these do not seem to help, you may consider seeing a dermatologist for alternative management.

Avatar f tn I have had acne issues for about 3 years now because i am allergic to something in the water where i am at school. I have purchased a water filter and the acne had gone away dramatically, but now i have severe blemishes on my face. At first i was using a product called Ambi and Crusaders soap and face cream that are skin bleaching creams. They both work well, but they lighten up my entire face rather than just evening my skin tone so now my face is visibly lighter than the rest of my body.
Avatar m tn Hello, There are many procedures of mole removal like by shave or deep elliptical excision, excision with cauterization (a tool is used to burn away the mole) and laser removal. Your dermatologist may choose excision with or without stitches, depending on the depth of the mole and the type of cosmetic outcome desired. Laser removal has less chances of leaving scars but it is also not without side effects. Discuss the details of these procedures with your dermatologist.
948349 tn?1294383837 I also believe that home laser hair removal kits will help you with your acne if your acne is causes by ingrown hairs. I'm going to be purchasing one within a month which is a bit steep in price at 500 dollars, but I think it's well worth it. I have ingrown hairs on my neck, and sometimes I also get acne on my neck. For men and shaving... avoid a close shave and shave in the direction of the hair follicles growth rather than against it.

Also I have about three small acne scars on the shaft of my penis and even a scar on the head of my penis from picking away scabs. I wanted to know if the skin of the penis is too sensitive for laser treatment or if there is a possible procedure for penis scar removal that is in use.
