Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but am a long-time type 1 diabetic who also takes Lantus and Humalog insulins and who has also done weight training at times in my life. I think you may be able to understand what is happening if you look at how your body immediately responds to both kinds of excercise and then look at what happens hours later after both kinds of exercise. In cardio exercise, you are working hard for a reasonably short period of time, burning LOTS of carbs and calories quickly.
Avatar n tn I have type 1 diabetes and am on Lantus. I was wondering though what the difference between 70/30 and Lantus is. My understanding is that they are both long lasting insulins, but I don't know much else. Does anyone know?
Avatar n tn Go here and select your option: 1] email Sanofi [makers of Lantus pens]... 2] have a Sanofi rep call you...3] call the 800 # listed. Good luck - https://contactus.sanofi-aventis.us/default.
Avatar f tn I use Novorapid as my quick acting and have low doses of that (10, 6, 8) and 16 Lantus. I have been type 1 diabteic for 26 years (since I was 5) and have not had problems with my weight but in the last 6 weeks have gained 5.1kg I am very active and am finding this hard to deal with. Can anyone shed any light on to what I can do to loose weight as i have tried everything ! I am considering going onto an Insulin pump.
Avatar m tn Also, I have never heard of a Lantus pen but have a call into our local rep to ask. My teenage son has Type 1 diabetes and there is never a dull moment with diabetes, is there.
Avatar m tn Do not dilute Lantus and do not mix Lantus with any other type of insulin. And, do not switch to another brand or type of insulin or change the dose or dosage time of any type of insulin you are using without first talking to your doctor.
Avatar n tn Hello, Mister Magic! I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. Humalog and Novolog are different types of fast acting insulin, meaning that they are quickly absorbed into your system to immediately drop your blood sugar. Some people find that one works more effectively than the other, so which is used is really up to the patient. Humulin, more commonly called Humulin NPH, and even more commonly called just NPH, is a long acting insulin.
Avatar n tn If so, she probably is a type 2 diabetic who has been put on insulin, and so is being CALLED a type 1 diabetic. Type 2 diabetics are usually overweight, and the problem is not an immune system disorder as in type 1 diabetes, but is instead a problem with insulin resistance, for fat tissue is insulin-resistant. So too much fat tissue can cause real problems with insulin efficiency.
Avatar n tn I know this is an old post but for future readers, very important. You are incorrect in saying you don't change types. Type 2 diabetics often develop Glutamic Acid problems which destroys Beta cells. LADA is just a term that identifies someone in that stage of diabetes and is weakly defined for a diagnosis. Type 2's can become Type 1's making them both. Type 2's can become Type 1's lose weight and lose the clinical designation of type 2 and still have type 1.
Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but the mom of a type one diabetic on the pump. I have not heard of this type of side effect from Lantus. I would suggest you talk to your endocrinologist and tell him, you problem, he might be able to switch you r insulin type or see there are other things causing you to have dry eyes. Several types of medications can cause that condition. Hope this helps. Pleas let us know how it goes.

Avatar n tn When I started using 2u Lantus in morning, 2 weeks ago, I'd go low in the late afternoon/early evening, and then my morning sugars would be elevated ... 140s, 150s. So I split the dose: I'm now using 1.5u Lantus AM & 1u Lantus PM. It definitely works better than 2u QD, and I've checked the middle of the night - not a problem. The drug sheet for Lantus doesn't mention BID dosing, but my internet articles do. What are your thoughts, and is Levemir better for BID dosing?
Avatar m tn and I know i'm a type 1 diabetic because I have been taking humalog and lantus for last 11 years and havent in the last 2 months with the exception of 1 or 2 injections.
Avatar m tn Hello, This is my first post, so I'm sorry if it's in the wrong forum. OK so I'm 19 years old, male, I've been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last summer, and I'm using Lantus 24hr along with Novo Rapid insulin for meals because pills are bad for my kidney and liver in the long-term (so says doctor). I've been having a lot of hypoglycemia recently too. But my question here is about Masturbation in relationship with glucose levels.
