Common Questions and Answers about Lantus side effects medication

lantus

Avatar f tn All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. These are the most COMMON side effects of Lantus. Redness, swelling, itching, or mild pain at the injection site.
Avatar n tn The other girl who wrote to me was having severe headaches and chest pains with Lantus, so the side effects for each of us have been very different. She is also having higher blood pressure readings since switching to Levemir and that was what caused me to give up that one also. At least there are some older insulins to fall back on, but I am beginning to wonder what is in them as well. Hope this is helpful or at least thought provoking.
Avatar f tn Page 1 of 269 for: I'm taking 32-40 units of lantus a day. My A1C is 6.7. Why would I be given a pill instead of short acting insulin if the lantus has proven to work so well? ive tried numerous pills for diabetes over the past 20 years. Efficacy never enough- so we tried lantus.
Avatar f tn i was treated with himulin 30/70 insulin for a years and usually my fasting sugar is high (200-400) and now my new doctor give me lantus and apidra insulin instead of himulin insulin and now my fasting sugar reaches to 215 not exceeded. Avatar n tn I am on lantus and the Novolog pen. I know when I first started lantus I got very anxious and before I had to take it, just in a dead panic. I can not fully answer your question, but I need your help. Can you ask your daughter if her lantus burns, itches, and/or does the area she injects it (arm, leg, stomach) feel heavy or like a big knot is under it?
Avatar m tn I believe it would be safer to raise your Lantus a bit, rather than add another drug, that does report serious side effects. Being on Metformin AND Lantus (at the proper levels for you) should show you the levels that you want to see. I am on 2,000 mgs. of Metformin a day and 20 units of Lantus once a day. My A1C levels have dropped from 10.2% (estimated average glucose of 246) down to 7%. Proper diet and exercise is just as important as your medications.
Avatar n tn pkw=symbicort According to this, while it apparently is not one of the most common side effects, it IS a side effect that requires immediate attention, so please contact your doctor right away. I hope you feel better soon!
Avatar m tn Well, loss of balance, slurred speech, loss of memory and disorientation are not known side effects of Bonista injection, so in a way the neurologist was correct. However, if the symptoms are reappearing with the injections, then yes, there could be a connection, or the injection is causing these symptoms due to some drug interactions, if the patient is on other drugs. Do discuss this with your mother's doctor. Take care!
Avatar n tn ve take Paxil 10mg for three days now and I would like to quit, I have headaches and nausea now. My headaches are not relieved with the Tylenol. Will there be serious side effects just taking the medication for three days?
Avatar n tn if you use too much insulin you can get hypos that said ive had no other side effects i have been on insulin for 17 years
Avatar f tn No the weight came on before. I was on this medication 3 weeks before my surgery. Before taking toujeo I lost 15 pound eating vegan vegetarian. So as I'm seeing the pounds go up I'm like wtf. U get me. Weight gain is a side effect of toujeo being that I liked it up . So I'm going back to my lantus.
Avatar n tn Injecting the Lantus slowly can help for some people, but what I find the best is taking an ice cube and pressing over the skin where I will inject my Lantus for about 4-5 seconds (or however cold you want to get it, the colder, the less sting) and then inject the Lantus. The body is more concerned with the cold effects of the ice cube than the acidity of the Lantus and while it may not remove the sting entirely, I have found it reduces it drastically.
Avatar n tn Since your panic attacks are happening less, are the headaches numerous and a reason that you cannot take the medication anymore? Or are some of the side effects okay with you now that your anxiety is much better? What does your prescribing doctor say about this? Headaches can also be caused by an endless number of factors in my opinon. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you still under a lot of stress? The point is, that the headaches may not even be related to the medication itself.
Avatar m tn After the body becomes acclimated to the medication, the side effects diminish. Good luck to both of us with this. Hope it does the trick.
Avatar n tn http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/uspdi/500253.html and did find some info on skin changes .. "Less common or rare Depression of the skin at place of injection; thickening of the skin at place of injection; ..." This doesn't mention cellulite directly, but it sounds similar. The site also has a clear caution to discuss these or any other changes with your doc.
1495558 tn?1288805527 this does not sound like a normal reaction, and why, for heavens sake, if she is having these side effects, should she stay on it.
