Lantus side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Lantus side effects

lantus

Avatar f tn All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. These are the most COMMON side effects of Lantus. Redness, swelling, itching, or mild pain at the injection site.
Avatar f tn i was treated with himulin 30/70 insulin for a years and usually my fasting sugar is high (200-400) and now my new doctor give me lantus and apidra insulin instead of himulin insulin and now my fasting sugar reaches to 215 not exceeded. Are lantus and apidra combatable for me?? and what are the side effects of them??????????
Avatar n tn I am on lantus and the Novolog pen. I know when I first started lantus I got very anxious and before I had to take it, just in a dead panic. I can not fully answer your question, but I need your help. Can you ask your daughter if her lantus burns, itches, and/or does the area she injects it (arm, leg, stomach) feel heavy or like a big knot is under it?
Avatar m tn Well, loss of balance, slurred speech, loss of memory and disorientation are not known side effects of Bonista injection, so in a way the neurologist was correct. However, if the symptoms are reappearing with the injections, then yes, there could be a connection, or the injection is causing these symptoms due to some drug interactions, if the patient is on other drugs. Do discuss this with your mother's doctor. Take care!
Avatar n tn The other girl who wrote to me was having severe headaches and chest pains with Lantus, so the side effects for each of us have been very different. She is also having higher blood pressure readings since switching to Levemir and that was what caused me to give up that one also. At least there are some older insulins to fall back on, but I am beginning to wonder what is in them as well. Hope this is helpful or at least thought provoking.
Avatar n tn if you use too much insulin you can get hypos that said ive had no other side effects i have been on insulin for 17 years
Avatar n tn Injecting the Lantus slowly can help for some people, but what I find the best is taking an ice cube and pressing over the skin where I will inject my Lantus for about 4-5 seconds (or however cold you want to get it, the colder, the less sting) and then inject the Lantus. The body is more concerned with the cold effects of the ice cube than the acidity of the Lantus and while it may not remove the sting entirely, I have found it reduces it drastically.
Avatar n tn Crestor is to control cholesterol, have more offen side effects but doses of 10 mg are the lowest , and side effects can be abdominal pain (not chest). So is better to talk to the doctor about this side effects. She is very well medicated but allergic reactions can happen. TALK TO TE DOCTOR is all I can tell.
Avatar n tn Lantus is very slow-acting and really rarely causes severe hypoglycemia, in my experience, for warning symptoms occur long before it gets severe. However, if the warning symptoms are not listened to, I have personally noticed that the hypoglycemia that eventually happens makes me feel worse than some of the quick-acting insulins do.
1041656 tn?1253394619 There are a number of insulin related drugs on the market with varying degrees of side effects. Since you kept your medications [injectable & oral] a secret from us it's impossible to answer your question. However, you can perform your own research investigation by Googling the name of the drug followed by the words "side effects" [w/o the " "].
Avatar f tn m given RX for those, which I take for a short while, and decide that the side effects are worse than the tremors. Well this summer the tremors became really bad and a whole lot of other symptoms started too. In brief, the symptoms were ALL of the things you would feel if you became hypo BUT I have had high BS (200's) all summer too. I've experimented off and on all summer and definitely know that these symptoms occur on the days I take Novolg.
Avatar n tn This is a wonderful resource for Type I's...often a minority in support groups, IMHO. My first posting to the forum although I've been type I since age 7...now a healthy 45 year old (female). I am mostly happy with the current combination of Humalog Pen and Lantus. My questions are in regards to Lantus: I understand the "non-peak" aspect...but personally dropped very low in early a.m.'s (about 4-6 a.m) after injecting on a regular basis at 10 p.m.
Avatar f tn I am a type 1A diabetic with normal insulin sensitivity and predictable bg responses to insulin doses. Until now. I went on a reducing diet (high protein, next to 0 carbs, increased exercise) but never decreased my once daily PM dose of Lantus (10 units.) Immediately my AM bg's jumped to over 200 and stayed there. No hypoglycemia during sleep (I never woke up, anyway.)I could bring my daily bg's down with my shortacting insulin.
Avatar n tn Lantus makers Sanofi Aventis have been reported to Health Canada and I encourage all users to report this effect to both doctors and other pertinant government agencies. It is not clear in the side effects how dangerous this effect can be. Be very careful how you inject this insulin.
Avatar n tn I use humalog before bed time and lantus at night. I notice that eversince my sugar levels have been in a ok range, ,my weight has increased by 4 lbs. Does insulin make u gain weight even if you eat healthy???I was thinking of starting to take lantus in the morning....
Avatar f tn ve been injecting Byetta for nearly two years (twice a day). My husband saw that there is a class action suit against the manufacturer because of side effects, damage to the pancreas. I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues. For the last year I have had IBS and now my blood sugar is climbing, (only my fasting). Needless to say I have quit taking the injections because I'm afraid it has caused these changes.
Avatar f tn My doc put me on that toujeo stuff, I gained weight same as you all, felt like crap it was the same 70 units as I was taking with lantus. He said something about it last longer and other stuff. I had enough told him I want lantus back and someone needs to figure out where to put all these toujeo pens that I got cause I'm not taking it anymore.
Avatar m tn I believe it would be safer to raise your Lantus a bit, rather than add another drug, that does report serious side effects. Being on Metformin AND Lantus (at the proper levels for you) should show you the levels that you want to see. I am on 2,000 mgs. of Metformin a day and 20 units of Lantus once a day. My A1C levels have dropped from 10.2% (estimated average glucose of 246) down to 7%. Proper diet and exercise is just as important as your medications.
Avatar n tn pkw=symbicort According to this, while it apparently is not one of the most common side effects, it IS a side effect that requires immediate attention, so please contact your doctor right away. I hope you feel better soon!
