lamivudine is not an hbv drug anymore, ban of it has been proposed already because it only worsen the infection
the only drugsare: tenofovir, peginterferon, entecavir, none is curative except two cases:
peginterferon when hbsag is less than 1000-1500iu/ml
sequential treatment of 3 years tenofovir or entecavir and peginterferon add on 1-2years (5years total)

So best not to use Lamivudine as it has very high drug resistance rate. Usually Lamivudine has very few side effects, so it is unlikely to cause all the problems you are experiencing.
thanks so much! can i have tenofovir for 4 months and undergo pegasys after? i want to start on december just in case i've got side effects that will affect my lifestyle atleast december is a vacation month to rest, also, are there post effects of pegasys? i have read patient reviews regarding pegasys and some have very scary experiences like sometimes temporary blindness, others feel a great depression and attempts suicide, some cant even walk.

I have been treated on two occasions with Prednisone, a steroid drug. Although this did bring my liver tests down, the side effects were terrible and the tests elevated after discontinuance of the drug. No, there should be no concerns. Just continue with your regular dosage. Some patients take 2x0.5mg per day of Entecavir for their treatment (in case of previous experience with Lamivudine).

I understood from my family doctor (not a liver specialist) that Lamivudine has the least side effect and is the safest among other medicine types for husband and wife who wish to have children. And yes, I understand the "high resistance" issue, but given the pro and cons comparing to other medicine, it seems to me that is the best choice to start. Am I (and my doctor) correct?
s one taplet, with T for tenoforvir and L for Lamivudine on the other side of the taplet. two in one. the Lamivudine as my Dr says will help fight strains the a resistant to tenoforvir. Am worried bc if I start this combo i can't go back to tenoforvir alone. has anyone used this combo?

My doctor suggests that I participate in the drug trial of Tenefovir (Viread) versus Tenofovir in combination with Emtricitibine (Truvada).
