Avatar m tn Telbivudine versus adefovir or peginterferon alfa-2a versus lamivudine increased post treatment HBeAg seroconversion. Peginterferon alfa-2a plus lamivudine increased HBeAg seroconversion versus lamivudine alone but not versus peginterferon alfa-2a alone. HBsAg clearance. Nine studies compared active drugs with placebo or no treatment. Only one RCT of HBeAg-positive patients found a significant increase in HBsAg loss after interferon alfa-2b.
Avatar m tn Doctor said i was a candidate for treatment and recommended Lam. Being taken lam ever since, but recently feeling very uncomfortable in the liver region(sometimes affecting my sleep). This is Africa (Nigeria) options and info very limited. due for another viral load test in a month what should i do.
Avatar f tn t go with the treatment, my baby will have a higher chance of contracting chronic hbv and if I do go on treatment, I am afraid of any birth defects. Either way just stinks. I don't know what to do.
Avatar m tn But in short, seroconversion from HBeAg to HBeAb COULD be an endpoint of lamivudine treatment. But no guarantee.
Avatar m tn stop lamivudine immediately or switch to tenofovir, it is decades now lamivudine is not used because it can lead to cytopatic hbv mutations that cannot be control with any medication leading to cancer and cirrhosis despite hbsag negative, hbvdna undetectable and normal ast-alt, another reason not to use lamivudine is that it is even totally useless on hbv the hbsag of the virus mutates to a form where the virus destroy cells directly even without replication hbv cure is achieved only by sequen
Avatar f tn Hello, My doctor advised me for pegasys treatment, I am just wondering if this is effective because it's too expensive here in Philippines and I have to take it once a week for a year, I am jobless right now because they unfit me to work and thinking I have to sacrifice my car because i cant afford it .i am just curious if this treatment is all worth it? Here are my lab results on July 15, 2013 HBsAG-II = 4208 – REACTIVE ANTI HBS =2.00 – NEGATIVE ANTI-HBC IGG=0.008 – REACTIVE HBeAg=967.
Avatar m tn Now my results are HBV-DNA=Undetectable,Hbeag=Non-reactive,Hbsag=+ve,normal LFT and quite normal ultrasonography results(heterogeneous liver, small thick walled gall bladder). My doctor suggested me to stop the treatment temporarily (as long as hbv dna remains und.).He has only asked me to take a liver supplement ursodiol 300 for the next three months.I consulted another doctor who asked me to continue with my lamivudine 100 throughout my life.
Avatar m tn I just spoke with somebody that doctor prescribe Lamivudine treatment for her and also for the children (2 years old). She took lamivudine for 1.5 year (0.5 year combo with interferon) and drop from couple of milions to 1000 copy and the children (lamivudine mono) clera the infection and seroconvert to HbsAb.

Avatar n tn Epivir=Lamivudine, said to be very safe for husband and wife who wish to have children. But do you have to choose Lamivudine as first-line treatment with its high resistance profile?
Avatar n tn You treated with Lamivudine alone and developed resistance. Then your doctor took you off Lamivudine and gave you Hepsera (Adefovir). If so it's a terrrible treatment strategy. If you just taking Adefovir now, you should absolutely go on the trial. Either option is better for you than Adefovir at this point. If you develop resistance to Adefovir as well, you will be at higher risk for resistance to other HepB antivirals.
Avatar m tn She has also been a patient of anemia. For the last 1.5 years she has been on lamivudine 100 after her hbv dna crossed 86 lacs. iu/ml in 2012.So far everything has been fine, the liver enzyme levels(AST/ALT/ALP) have nearly normalized, platelet count has increased. But one day ago she underwent a blood test and found that:Sgpt=206,Sgot=131,Alk. phosphatase=88,serum bilirubin total=0.9...While alk.
Avatar m tn If chronic then u definetly require treatment, involving antiviral drugs such as lamivudine?
Avatar m tn I have been infected with hepatitis b since my birth(inherited from my mother).Last year I carried out some tests, the results were Hbv-dna=1070 IU/ml,sgpt=37,sgot=33,wbc=5600,platelet=152000,HB=13.1...I didn't have any problems then and now.I have been on lamivudine 100 for an year now and current status is:Hbv-dna= -ve,hbeag=-ve.My USG report states:1)Heterogeneous liver 2)small thick walled gall bladder.Liver, pancreas, spleen etc are normal in shape and size...
Avatar m tn interesting posters thanx for posting i would like to concetrate on % of hbsag loss during sequential treatment 50 % hbsag loss in one year treatment all seroconversions in difficult to treat hbeag negative patients(guess how that 50 would go after another year). and stef2011 was right on that after 2 years that 50 might go near 90 or patients can have a "safe" hbsag value of <1000 iu/ml. thanx again important figure for us...
Avatar m tn I am a 26 year old male having hbsag and hbeag=+ve,hbv dna =1070 iu/ml(Taqman) but my LFT results are normal(sgpt=37,sgot=33).My doctor has asked me to take lamivudine 100 mg for 6 months or until it becomes -ve.My mom is taking lamivudine for the last 7 months after her hbv dna crossed 8 lacs iu/ml.Probably I have been infected from my birth. Is it possible for both of us to completely cure Hep. B after taking lamivudine.
Avatar n tn I recently refuse lamivudine treatment propose by a doctor when I recently went for checkup. she was surprise, she also claims interferon has no effect on hbsag. and that chronic hbv cannot be cured.
