Avatar m tn Good afternoon. There is a double-acting drugs - lamivudine, emtricitabine, tenofovir. This is known. Are there any similar action in the protease inhibitor, such as Kaletra (lopinavir) for example? Have you ever thought about that? I read - sometimes laugh. Simvastatin, vitamin D, which the Chinese poeben, mythical new drugs, masturbation with measurements of the level of HBsAg, and other nonsense....
Avatar f tn I have discussed with my doctor to start the anti-virus treatment immediately to reduce my liver damage. Since I have been treated with Lamivudine in 2000 for 11 months, which was totally not effective (HBV-DNA did not decrease). But, at that time, my ALT was 40. I should not given this drug considering my immune tolerant state! However, I probably can not blame my doctor too much if it dates back ten years ago. But, this failed treatment may induce LAM-resistance in my body.
Avatar m tn the second component is unchanged, 200mg of emtricitabine, also called FTC, a fluor substituted form of Lamivudine, that provides protection from the development of mutants that will lower the responsiveness to tenofovir. it's side effects are generally considered very mild, equivalent to lamivudine. This is theoretically good news for hbv patients waiting eagerly for TAF to be available for HBV. The problem is the high price: 1500$ for one month supply of 30 pills.
Avatar f tn I asked her of her status and she stated clean. I started PEP within 24 hours. (Teneogovir, emtricitabine, lamivudine ) What are the odds of being infected ? is this low risk ?
Avatar f tn You are correct that Truvada is a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine, and is generally prescribed for patients with HIV. Being a HBV forum, most of us know very little about Truvada except that it is prescribed off-label for HBV by some doctors, and that it is recommended for HBV patients who develop resistance to Tenofovir.
Avatar m tn Well here it is guys something that has been talked on the HIV forums for years they NUCS cause high blood pressure is finally have been labeled as side effect. Does not mean it will happen with everybody but it sure did happen to me taking Entecavir (Baraclude) which was also originally developed for HIV but it failed miserably as they virus developed resistance really fast to it..
Avatar m tn In HBeAg-positive patients with chronic HBV infection, high viral loads, normal levels of ALT, and therapy with the combination of TDF and emtricitabine provided better viral suppression than TDF alone, although rates of HBeAg seroconversion and HBsAg loss were low.
Avatar m tn Doctor recommended lamivudine in January. Took lamivudine and by June 2010, viral load was undetected. have read in many forums that lam is not the best, approached my doctor with this concern and she sugessted tenofovir. Should i start tenofovir immediately, how should i start. Should i just abruptly stop lam and move on to tenofovir, should i use both and gradually stop lam after a few day/weeks. No other options here. Nigeria (Africa), so i cannot combo with other drugs.
181575 tn?1250198786 Is combination of thymosin alpha-1 and lamivudine superior to lamivudine monotherapy in hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) positive naive patients with chronic hepatitis B? 3. Sixty-seven patients were assigned to two different groups in a randomized manner. The combination group (n = 34) received thymosin alpha-1 (1.6 mg subcutaneously, twice a week) and lamivudine (100 mg orally, daily) for 24 weeks, followed by continuous lamivudine therapy.
181575 tn?1250198786 Atripla is a drug used to treat HIV. It actually consists of 3 drugs, emtricitabine and tenofovir (which also works against HBV) and efavirenz (doesn't work against HBV). Combination treatment is common practice for HIV so they combine multiple drugs into 1 pill. Of course Atripla is NOT an FDA approved therapy for HBV. Sometime in the future when the standard practice is combo treatment for HBV, they will combine entecavir and tenofovir into 1 pill and call it XcalibR 300.
Avatar f tn now my ALT is normal, HbeAg is negative Anti-HBe is negative and may DNA is below 6 units but my HbsAg is still positve and Anti-Hbs is negative. Can you please tell me what are the things to be done in order my HbsAg will become negative and my Anti-Hbs will become positive.is it true that REST is one thing am i going to do because i am always tired with my work.
Avatar m tn 5 year combo with interferon) and drop from couple of milions to 1000 copy and the children (lamivudine mono) clera the infection and seroconvert to HbsAb.
Avatar m tn What are my chances of getting infected. Another question was administered a PEP drug emtricitabine and tenofovir, can it prevent me from contracting HiV.
Avatar m tn Hello Doc, am 28yrs Male from Africa Uganda,8 days ago i got sexually involved with a girl of 19yrs we used a condom for most of the intercourse but before i climaxed my condom broke at bottom tip, am not sure how long i lasted their in her virgina after my condom broke cos i was drunk but it was around 5 mins when i realized my penis head was not covered i did not continue sex stoped there and i did not cum cos i got scared right away ,then the following day i took her to test and she turned ou
Avatar m tn HBV DNA clearance was assessed using assays with different sensitivities to detect HBV DNA. Adefovir and lamivudine increased HBV DNA clearance at end of treatment versus placebo. Entecavir increased clearance versus lamivudine with inconsistent effect size. Lamivudine was less effective than adefovir in lamivudine-resistant patients and less effective than telbivudine in HBeAg-positive patients.
Avatar f tn Lamivudine is outdated and ur virus will multiply anyway someday due to resistance to it so best is change to tenofovir and also change ur doctor who even don't know in today's time lamivudine is not used.
Avatar m tn Good evening, I did stop lamivudine treatment around 3 weeks ago, and since a couple of days I feel a discomfort on my right body ribs. Is now around 5 months since I had the acute hepatitis B case. Last months test showed immunity developing, but I am worried if this could be a relapse. Is normal to still feel this pain or discomfort after 5 months? Can be related to stopping the treatment. Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn combo have no effect on hbv but more toxicity on you, if you have no resistance mutations baseline go for tenofovir only or tenofovir plus lamivudine which are the less toxic/more potent and retry interferon in 3 years
Avatar m tn D Doctor advised me to use Lamivudine which I did. Two months ago i did the test again and it showed that I am positive. I was advised to do Liver scan and HBD DNA Viral Load. The scan showed that my Liver is ok. The viral load is 991. I want to try Liv. 52 and Liv. 52H. Has anyone used them before?
