Avatar m tn I am not physically restricted - I walk 1 mile or more day and do 10 minutes of other light exercises most days. My BP runs under 120/80 most of the time. I understand carvedilol helps prevent stiffening of the heart muscle and can help restore LV function to some degree. How specially, so it do this? What is the biochemical mechanism?
Avatar m tn would you kindly do me a favorite, in general, if one person eat two pills of lamivudine, 200MG, in four weeks of exposure, does it will prevent the serconversion or in another word, does it will extend the window period? just help, do not need your answer resposible for this question, so scared, please, thank you, best wish!
Avatar m tn I'm not ashamed - rather funny. I can offer conduct a new experiment - measuring the level of HBsAg in response to the mercy of "lice with honey," and all of a sudden? But if without laughing, I propose to reflect at leisure, there is some anti-HIV drugs, protease inhibitors, a similar effect on HBV, because they act at an earlier stage of virus replication than tenofovir and the like.
Avatar m tn The mechanism of action of Campral® (acamprosate calcium) Delayed-Release Tablets in maintenance of alcohol abstinence is not completely understood. Originally, several neurotransmitter systems, including GABA, were investigated for a possible role in Campral's mechanism of action. However, recent evidence suggests Campral's main interaction is with the glutamate system. Chronic alcohol exposure is hypothesized to alter the normal balance between neuronal excitation and inhibition.

Avatar m tn Oyakawa I am in my 3rd year of medical school and I was wondering the mechanism of action of steroid injections in the eyelid causing cataracts. It is not an osmotic agent so why does that occur? thanks so much.
Avatar m tn All patients developed decompensated liver disease despite one patient having had a prior liver biopsy showing absence of cirrhosis. Reintroduction of lamivudine therapy failed to halt progression of liver decompensation even after hepatitis B virus DNA had been demonstrated to be absent. Sequencing for lamivudine resistant mutants in two cases where serum was available failed to show evidence of mutations associated with lamivudine resistance.
Avatar m tn To date, 10 patients had undergone liver biopsies at the last follow-up, all of whom had either 100mg lamivudine or 0.5mg entecavir at baseline and had been switched to 1.0mg entecavir during follow-up (median follow-up: 11.4 years; range 10.7 - 11.5 years). At baseline, the median serum HBV DNA, ihHBV-DNA and cccDNA levels were 6.66 logIU/mL, 273 copies/cell, and 3.2 copies/cell, respectively.
Avatar m tn The mechanism for resistance is differ from antiviral to antiviral. For example, Lamivudine resistance is more on and off. Adefovir is more gradual. Unless you research this area, it's hard to know what exactly is happening. But we do know all antivirals are at risk for resistance over time. And since you are 40 with early cirrohsis, you need the antiviral to stay working for another 30 years or so without resistance, that is a tough goal.
382218 tn?1341181487 Thanks for posting this DV. My favorite part was the mechanism of action for Tecfidera. "Poorly understood...
Avatar f tn Plavix has a unique mechanism of action by blocking the amplification of platelet activation by released ADP, and often used with aspirin to prevent the risk of clots for the first year after DES implant. Plavix and aspirin have different mechanism of action to prevent clots. After a year, plavix is usually discontinue as the risk for clots is decreased, and aspirin is continued long term. The risk of a clot is about 3%.
Avatar m tn and lamivudine is out of guidelines for hbv, what kind of nazy country are you from to allow such distortions of healthcare?
Avatar m tn Lam is not good due to high rate of resistance so would suggest you change now before its late or do a combo.
Avatar m tn She has also been a patient of anemia. For the last 1.5 years she has been on lamivudine 100 after her hbv dna crossed 86 lacs. iu/ml in 2012.So far everything has been fine, the liver enzyme levels(AST/ALT/ALP) have nearly normalized, platelet count has increased. But one day ago she underwent a blood test and found that:Sgpt=206,Sgot=131,Alk. phosphatase=88,serum bilirubin total=0.9...While alk.
Avatar m tn I've also just stared taking heptovit, but with lamivudine i'm afraid of the widrawal symtoms.

Avatar m tn HIV is transmitted by; Unprotected penetrative anal and/or vaginal sex Sharing works with other IV drug users Mother to child You never had an exposure.
Avatar n tn I understood what you explained me about it. Should I check blood test on HBV/DNA/PCR or HBsAg (Quantity) ? If resistance of lamivudine, what name of the drug will be changed? - If the HBsAb become Positive level, my liver working well or not? - What drugs can't I use? (Avoid hepatotoxic) when I got diarrhea - Headache or fever.
Avatar f tn 1) dump the doctor who prescribe you Lamivudine (and on top of that never bothered to check for DNA) and if you have a chance tell him that he is ignorant and dangerous for the society 2) go for Tenofovir (rather then Entecavir) as Tenofovir is the choice for Lamivudine exposed patients.
Avatar f tn Potassium is a chemical element and it is part of the electrolyte that should be in balance with other lytes to adequately conduct an electrical impulse that originates with the sinus node in the right atrium. The mechanism of action is not completely understood, but what is when a voltage (unit of potential for conduction) and electrolyte there will conduction and passage of electrical impluses.
