I have seen these warnings about use of lamivudine by breast-feeding mothers. More importantly, lamivudine is one of the earliest drugs for Hep B, and the one that Hep B viruses adapt to most easily.

But I read that Telbivudine is okay to use during a pregnancy. So ask your wife doctor about that option. Is Telbivudine effective with Lamivudine resistance?, I don't know.
If the doctor has valid reason why meds should be used during a pregnancy, then I would ask for a biopsy to assess damage. If liver is in good shape, maybe ask the doctor to stop meds for duration of pregnancy and hope for the best.
Since there is no known testing for Men, what is your recommendation (if not about resistance) for the husband, Lamivudine or Entecavir, in terms of having safe children?

Without taking any drugs, viral load was 22,000 in september 2009. 46,000 in december 2009. Doctor recommended lamivudine in January. Took lamivudine and by June 2010, viral load was undetected. have read in many forums that lam is not the best, approached my doctor with this concern and she sugessted tenofovir. Should i start tenofovir immediately, how should i start. Should i just abruptly stop lam and move on to tenofovir, should i use both and gradually stop lam after a few day/weeks.

I have tested positive to Hbsag for more than a year now. I was placed on lamivudine, methionine and essential forte. d doctor never ask me to do viral load test anytime I see him he do ask me to do LFT and subject me to d early medications I listed. so a friend advice me to go teaching hospital were I can see a specialist. my question here is now that I have been on medication for a year without knowing my viral load what is d implication ?

I am taking lamivudine for the last 1 month,my LFT results were in the normal range(sgpt/sgot=37 and 33).
He said I could have conducted viral load ( which here in Nigeria cost around 130 USD) before starting taking lamivudine. He said after I do the virus load now he may consider putting me on interferon alpha but I preferred tenofovir or entacavir( which are not yet available here in Nigeria). Please advise accordingly.
