Lamisil oral for ringworm

Common Questions and Answers about Lamisil oral for ringworm

lamisil

Avatar n tn I tried lamisil cream for 4 weeks with only a slight improvement and then saw my GP. He prescribed ciclopirox which I used for 5 weeks with maybe 25-50% improvement, but it would occasionally flare and come back just as strong. Went back to the GP and he suggested maybe the fungus was almost gone and that it was more inflammation than anything. To be sure, he prescribed oral ketoconazole for 2 weeks and prescription hydrocortisone.
Avatar f tn Is there an over-th-counter medication for ringworm ? I can't get to my dermitologist before New Years and i would like to at least try to get rid on this ringworm.
Avatar f tn It is used to treat infections caused by fungus that affect the fingernails or toenails. Lamisil oral granules are used to treat a fungal infection of scalp hair follicles in children who are at least 4 years old. It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended.
Avatar m tn i may have had a fever, but im always hot. i stumbled across a website for candida searchign for the ringworm, and took a test, and i have high risk for candida, and took a self spit test and showed that i do have candida, including about 30 of the symptoms that are related to it. I assume now that the candida has caused some of these bad rash conditions.
1198686 tn?1265224531 t touch it all, because the bacteria in your hands can prolong the ringworm, also, you will probably give the bacteria to someone else, which can give them the ringworm! I had a ringworm once on my arm, and it was there for a very long time. When it finally cured, it left a very big WHITE or discolored spot where the ringworm was, but I promise that spot will go away. Just make sure to put your Lamisil 2 x day for those 4 weeks, and you'll be good.
Avatar n tn I asked them if I could take the lamisil oral medication anyway and whether it could do me bad (in case of pityriasis rosea) and they said no problem. I am still confused and I would like some advice and maybe information on specific differences I could notice between the two different rashes.
Avatar m tn Did the doctor give him any tablets to take? There are a few options for oral medications that he might ask about. Other options that are different then Lamisil. I'd highly recommend he call the doctor and let the doctor know about the blood sugar issues so they can work on another treatment path that doesn't mess with that balance. Other wise, make sure he's staying hydrated, keeping an eye on the carb intake, and keep up with the treatment.
Avatar n tn My son is a competitive wrestler and picked up tinea corporis and tinea capitis about five weeks ago. Lamisil reduced, but couldn't completely clear the tinea corporis, so his pediatrician prescribed econzole nitrate cream which has pretty much killed it. However, the tinea capitis which started at his scalp line has migrated into his hair. Our pediatrician didn't feel comfortable prescribing oral medication, so we went to a dermatologist who gave him Griseofulvin.
1652119 tn?1301725969 Dear Doctor Thanks for the time and effort you gave ! ! It's Tinea Barbae for sure ; as I've been taking Terbinafine 250 mg po for past 2 wks and the symptoms have dropped by at least 50 % ! ! Topical antifungals have had no effect.
Avatar f tn t be treated topically. For the feet and pubic region, the best product is topical Lamisil. For the scalp, you must take Lamisil tablets: 250mg of terbinafine hydrochloride for 30 days. I also recommend shaving your head, keeping it dry, cool, exposed to air and sunlight.
Avatar m tn Usually, they can give you a stronger anti-fungal cream for ringworm that works better. Lamisil does work but does take a long time and for a large area you need something stronger. I have had both ringworm and I have eczema off and on. I also have rosacea. So I hope I can help. Yes you are right about washing your hands. Unfortunately, the herbal methods you mentioned are not strong enough either. They are soothing though. Usually, I don't find ringworm to be itchy.
Avatar m tn I have tried topical anti-fungal ointments (Lamisil), as well as Miconazole spray a week prior, and did the full 4 week treatment as well as the full 2 week treatment orally for ringworm, and I am guessing by the looks of the rash on my arm being bigger now than it was before treatment that it was most likely not ringworm.
Avatar f tn t work try with terbinafine cream (lamisil 1%) BID for at least 2 weeks, because I also think that is ringworm. Although, it is similar to an atopic dermatitis, so you should see a dermathologist.
Avatar f tn 24 hours later it was a red ring. I went out and bought OTC ringworm cream. I used it for two weeks. Within those two weeks the red ring got bigger and darker in color. I made an appointment, my doctor said it was ringworm and I was given ketoconazole cream. I was told to use it for 4 weeks and follow up. Within those 4 weeks I developed a red, scaly leasions on the R side of my neck.(it looks like a hickey, but it's not.).
1087566 tn?1282448730 Hello, Since you are a diabetic so any infection especially fungal infection takes a longer time to heal and hence you need to use topical and oral antifungals for a longer period of time. Please follow up with your dermatologist and try keeping the blood sugar levels under control. Also get your blood sugar levels evaluated at regular intervals. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn My boyfriend has had ringworm for about 4 months now. It first was visible on his hairline by his scalp/neck. We got some Lamisil and it cleaned it up in a couple of weeks. It was gone for about 2 weeks and all of a sudden came back! He immediately started treating it again thinking that he may not have cured it up completely. It went away and he kept using the lamisil in that area just to make sure. Well, then after a couple more weeks, it came back on his back.
1348119 tn?1276619265 I even took him to the doctor to look at it and he said that it can take 4 to 6 weeks to go away. I found the best antifungal cream for treating ringworm is Lamisil (Terbinafine). You have to apply it three times daily.
Avatar n tn In my 20s, I had vitiligo (white patches on back). This was treated with lamisil and resolved quickly. I have always had a predisposition for vaginal yeast infections, though after childbirth this is much better. (Avoiding coffee and sugar helps). About 10 years ago, i developed the first ringworm on my body (hip). About 6 months later, on my scalp. Oral meds cleared up the scalp and my hair grew back, but body tinea persisted. It has always remained as one "transient" lesion.
541150 tn?1306033843 Thanks April. Hopefully, none of them have ringworm; but if I have it.....it must be Dillan who gave it to me and my husband. How do you explain all of that missing hair? So far, Abby hasn't shown signs of it. Abby has puss comig out of a wound, a bite, in one ear, it's sore, red, and bumpy. I am putting triple antibiotic which also has pain reliever. He doesn't take it off. He lets me put that on so he knows I am curing him.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have a small round red circle on my upper thigh that I'm thinking is ringworm so I've been treating it for the past 3 or 4 days with Miconazole Nitrate. Last night when I got in the shower I noticed it has gotten bigger, about the size of a dime to nickel but now also has a puffy, swollen ring only on the outside of the rash. It hasn't been itchy until last night, now it's becoming itchy with a slight burn feeling to it.
252492 tn?1205609298 Doc says it is ringworm - had another name for it, I'm about to google for it. I remember them saying that this type of thing happens in those with HIV with weakened immune systems. I've got a negative test out to 7.5 months -- but I still have the rashes and now an ugly ringworm on my wrist. I can't help but freak out all over again. I go to the rheumatologist on Monday for the swollen lymphnodes. Anyone read anywhere that ringworms are bad signs? I've *never* had one before.
Avatar f tn ringworm is not getting cured even after applying antifungal creams.it has become bigger amd more itchy. It started from near my genital area. Now it has spreaded and its on my neck too now and even on my face(2 new small ones) I went to doctor and they only gave me a clotrimazole cream which dont seem to help at all. please help me.I dont want it to grow any moree..need cure asap.
Avatar n tn Hi, and sorry you haven't been feeling well. No ring worm doesn't make you feel bad it is on the surface of the skin and doesn't go systemic (internally). Did the cardiologist do a 24 hour monitor on you? The EKG, doesn't always pick up an arrhythmia. The echocardiogram looks for structural problems and the stress test is more for irregular heartbeat and blood flow as well.
