Avatar m tn are dendritic cells[2] in the epidermis,[3] containing large granules called Birbeck granules. They are normally present in lymph nodes and other organs, including the stratum spinosum layer of the epidermis. They can be found elsewhere, particularly in association with the condition histiocytosis. On infection of an area of skin, the local Langerhans cells will take up and process microbial antigens to become fully-functional antigen-presenting cells.
Avatar m tn Immediately I started applying Lamisil (terbinafine) every morning till today. All the redness and everything else is gone, but if I look at the skin from the side, I can still see the "circles" (in slightly different skin tone) where the fungi was located... does it mean that I'll have to keep on applying the cream for longer till I don't see those circles?
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and was told I had nail fungus and needed Lamisil. One tablet, once a day for 3 months. They took and ran tests of my blood to test my liver and they said all tests came back normal. They went ahead and said to begin taking the medication. I'm 21 and relatively healthy. I'm afraid to take Lamisil though. I've heard the side effects are horrible. Should I be worried?
Avatar f tn It spread to the finger next to it. Doctor put me on lamisil tablets 250 mg. I have been on the medication for 11 days and it does not appear to be helping. The fungus has spread to other parts of my hand and even to the other hand. I called the doctor's office and nurse told me to give it 2 weeks. I can understand taking 2 weeks before seeing positive results but should the fungus be spreading during the first 11 days while on the medication?

Avatar n tn I had a fungal infection on 4 of my toenails. I treated them with oral Lamisil starting about 9 months ago. Two nails have been growing, one has grown completely out, the other two haven't seem to grown at all. Do I have any other options? Is it possible they are permanently damaged?
Avatar m tn So, I made a trip to CVS and bought some Lamisil. Well, it was awesome. I put on the cream and the itching went away, and flakyness went away too, but not the redness. Lamisil says only to use it for one week. But once I stopped, all the symptoms came back. So, I decided to disobey the directions and began to use it twice a day -- now for almost 3 months. Here is what is happening now. There is no more itching, nor more flaking (unless I stop for a day...
Avatar m tn She performed oral (no condom), then intercourse with condom. About a week later I noticed a red itchy patch on my scrotum. I also have pimple like bumps, which have always been there, but now some are itchy on penis and scrotum. I am also itchy on undercarriage and inner thigh. I used Canesten for jock itch for 2 wks with no luck. I'm now on Lamisil but starting to worry. The girl said she was checked for STDs recently and all negative.
Avatar f tn m hoping for opinions concerning a new drug my dermatologist has added. Prescribed Lamisil 250 mg for 24 wks, (oral). He is drawing liver profile labs every month. I guess I'm alittle worried since I just got rid of the virus in January, an this med. can possibly be rough on the liver. I have an extremely painful case of fungal nails for years. I'm not that vain, an would let them remove the nails permanently, but dr.
Avatar f tn For example if you have 250 granules on a 60mg Cymbalta capsules that means that about 4 granules represents 1 mg. This is just an example, I don't know how many granules you have in your capsules and I am assuming you are on 60 mg caspules. So, if you want a reduction of 5% you have to tak off 3mg from your 60mg capsules that would be more or less 12 granules. You can keep the granules that you are eliminating to make new doses. I know it is confusing but all is a matter of math.
Avatar f tn You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral. Also wear cotton clothes and change the clothes twice. If the symptoms persist then oral antifungals may be needed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.

Avatar n tn I have been diagnose with a skin fungus infection (dermamytocosis) and the dermatologist has prescribed Lamisil (terbinafine hydrochloride) very strong tablets with quite a few side effects. I would like to try natural alternatives like apple cider vinegar but could the infection spread out or perhaps can resolved by itself over time. Will I be prone to get fungus infections in the future?
Avatar m tn Hello, Treatment of fungal infections involves topical and oral antifungal medicines. Most cases of fungal infections respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral. Also wear cotton clothes and try to keep the area as dry as possible.
Avatar m tn As I understand Lamisil is an antifungal cream. If you do not have a fungal problem, the Lamisil is not going to be doing anything. Natural yogurt for bruising and inflammation will help. It is a good idea for you to be examined by your doctor so that you can get the correct diagnosis. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Avatar n tn I tried lamisil cream for 4 weeks with only a slight improvement and then saw my GP. He prescribed ciclopirox which I used for 5 weeks with maybe 25-50% improvement, but it would occasionally flare and come back just as strong. Went back to the GP and he suggested maybe the fungus was almost gone and that it was more inflammation than anything. To be sure, he prescribed oral ketoconazole for 2 weeks and prescription hydrocortisone.
Avatar n tn It seems that I went to a barber and dirty clippers have caused me to devolp a fungus, I have tried all types of shampoos, and lamisil. It seems now to be spreading through out my head.
