I am in my mid 40's I have been on Effexor XR at 225/mg and Lamictal 300/mg a day for several years to treat bi-polar. I have been having problems with cognition, memory and concentration for many years and it seems to be getting worse. I have problems finding the right words, for example, I'll name 4 or 5 males names in my family before I say the right one, or i'll say glass instead of window.

If I have found, by taking Xanax XR are a PRN, that it lifts my mood as well as calming me down. The Klonopin just drags me out. What are some of the pros and cons of making this switch?

Sorry to hear about everything! I know how you feel...have been on a number of different anti-seizure meds for 14 years now, and totally understand how you feel. If it helps, things usually improve somewhat after you've been on the meds for 5 or 6 months....kind of get used to the dosage, although it isn't easy to deal with all the side effects.

He is in a group home and recently he started to have severe behavorial problems such as grabbing and tearing a caregivers shirt and punching. His meds are lamictal,400 mg. phenytek 200 mg. tegretol xr 800 mg, clonazepam 7 mg. Also just started citalopram from his GP for mood swings. Need input so when I talk to the neurologist today with some questions!

I think my pdoc is trying to cover all bases as she has me on cymbalta, seroquel xr, lamictal and lithium. I just don't sleep on a normal basis and seroquel didn't change that, but seroquel xr at first was great! helped my mood and let me sleep. Now...I'm getting depressed again with hallucinations, am gaining alot of weight and can't wake up for many hours in the morning.

However, she said I may be the treatment resistence type so prescribed me 25MG of lamictal to add to my 37.5mg of Effexor XR. I am supposed to take 12.5mg/day for one week then start on the full 25mg. I took the first 12.5mg last night and this morning I woke up feeling hungover, with tense twitching muscles and slight vision troubles. I felt groggy until about 3pm today. Is this normal when starting this medicine--will these side effects wear off usually? thanks all.

this happened when i tried to switch from depakote to lamictal. i stopped the lamictal but the symptoms persisted and are debilitating. have you ever heard of this before.

I have olfactory smell diagnosed 12-12-12 and on Lamictal XR 400mg they uped it twice so far last 3 times smelling burning didn't eat for 11 days lost 15 pounds..Does it ever get better or keeps getting worse Cause I am 100 percent sick of all this!!

I mostly only been taking 25 mg but started the 13th of Jan 50 mg and again the 30th of last month is when I started the medicine at 25 mg. This is just so screwed up cause I was on Lamictal 100 mg but this one is Lamictal XR two different ones I guess, not a problem on the Lamictal Regular.

the cycling just never seems to end. I am on 225mgs of Lamictal, 1600mgs of Neurontin and 1.5mgs of Klonopin. I have Xanax XR as a PRN and had too take that, along with 5 melatonin and 3 Benadrtyl to sleep last night; ridiculous...I still have a bunch of Xanax XR floating around in my system and it's not putting a dent into the mania. Over the past two weeks, my psychiatrist and I have tried Lithium (became very agitated) and Seroquel (made the cycling far worse).

I never win anything, so, maybe in my loss of health, I can win in the number of meds I take!

I have had the folowing test xray ,ekg,blood work,stress test all normal . I am still having sudden racing heart and waking at night with racing heart beat . This just started about a month ago . There is no heart problems in my family I have never had a problem with my heart this is the first. The first time it happen I had a sharp pain in my chest it woke me up in bed . I went to doctor I had shoveled snow that day my doc thought perhaps a pulled muscle caused it .

I am so sick of these seizures medicine not working I wish the world would disappear!! No hope on Lamictal XR 600 mg told therapist hope whole world would disappear!! About had it can't eat,nausea,depressed up all night can't sleep from the smell and just sick of everything!! I made the mistake of stopping two meds and replacing them with one. I was taking Bupropion and Lamictal, and switched to Effexor. I have been on Effxor for three weeks. I have had the worst fatigue I have ever felt. So now I am unsure if it was coming off the Lamictal or if it was the Effexor. I am going to stop the Effexor, but I don't know if I should go back on just the Lamictal, The lamictal When I first started taking it, up to 200 mg worked fairly well.

I was put on lamictal for mania because I cannot take any of the traditional mania meds. Lamictal worked for me but I had side effects and had to stop it. Your dr is just following new medication lists.

Hi everybody: I take Effexor XR, and have recently been told to take Lamictal to help the other drug along a bit and to stabilize my mood because of the PTSD. I was also told to watch for Stephens-Johnson's syndrome. Is this rare? It kind of scared me and I haven't started the med yet. I'm allergic to alot of meds, is this an allergy? Is anyone on this, and does it seem to help?

So, I am BP2, with a tendency to rapid cycle. I have been having issues again; trying to give up chew caused me to start cycling again. I am currently on 200mgs of Lamictal, 1.5 mgs of Klonopin and 1600 mgs of Neuontin. Last week, we tried increasing the dose of Lamictal as it's the only medication that's evened me out completely. I got the extra 50mg dose refilled and took it later in the day, after taking my normal 200mg dose in the morning. The 50 mg dose evened me out very well.

what meds are coverd on medicare that work very good for ur manic problems?? im on serquil 200 xr,s..there good but gain weight on them..i get them from family docky..wanting to find a shrink,,to put me on the right ones??PLESE HELP ME????????????????

iv been on Valium forever it stops my paranoia some of my anxiety and insomnia and vertigo too much benzo has paradoxical effect. I just started Adderall 20mds XR First day was bad i figured cause my anxiety.

Is your son taking only clonidine? Are there any other problems in addition to the ADHD and tic disorder? Does he display any voacl tics in addition to the motor tics? You'll want to rule out Tourette's Disorder. Since you are close to Chicago, it would be worthwhile to have him undergo a thorough evaluation in both neurology and child psychiatry at Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago. You will not likely find much, if any, benefit from alterations of his diet.

I was taking Lamictal before I got pregnant and stopped as soon as I found out i was pregnant. After i had her I was put on xanax xr and lithium, I have been on lithium very long but lately I'm very very irriatable and angry, the more time goes on since giving birth the worse my symptoms get..same way after I had my 3yr old son. I am on seroquel xr 300mg, along with lamictal. Doc says I may be able to eliminate the seroquel if I get stabilized with lamictal.

For the last year or so I was taking 300mg/day Wellbutrin Xr and also 200mg lamictal. I have also taken Buspar for around a year.
