Sorry to hear about everything! I know how you feel...have been on a number of different anti-seizure meds for 14 years now, and totally understand how you feel. If it helps, things usually improve somewhat after you've been on the meds for 5 or 6 months....kind of get used to the dosage, although it isn't easy to deal with all the side effects.

The Lamictal has been a very good medication for me; it stabilizes my mood very well. I have a big turn around since being placed on this medication last summer. I have had my rough patches, but we have found that increasing the Lamictal and tinkering with the dosing schedule has been good. It helps raise my mood, to a point, but it does tend to make me emotionally flat. This is a good thing for me; it quells my anxiety.

Lamictal 300mg, Effexor XR 300mg, and now just recently started taking Adderol for the distraction caused by the Lamictal. So far the Adderol hasn't had much affect. Would you recommend as a replacement for Lamictal?

If I have found, by taking Xanax XR are a PRN, that it lifts my mood as well as calming me down. The Klonopin just drags me out. What are some of the pros and cons of making this switch?

I think my pdoc is trying to cover all bases as she has me on cymbalta, seroquel xr, lamictal and lithium. I just don't sleep on a normal basis and seroquel didn't change that, but seroquel xr at first was great! helped my mood and let me sleep. Now...I'm getting depressed again with hallucinations, am gaining alot of weight and can't wake up for many hours in the morning.

this happened when i tried to switch from depakote to lamictal. i stopped the lamictal but the symptoms persisted and are debilitating. have you ever heard of this before.

I have olfactory smell diagnosed 12-12-12 and on Lamictal XR 400mg they uped it twice so far last 3 times smelling burning didn't eat for 11 days lost 15 pounds..Does it ever get better or keeps getting worse Cause I am 100 percent sick of all this!!

I am in my mid 40's I have been on Effexor XR at 225/mg and Lamictal 300/mg a day for several years to treat bi-polar. I have been having problems with cognition, memory and concentration for many years and it seems to be getting worse. I have problems finding the right words, for example, I'll name 4 or 5 males names in my family before I say the right one, or i'll say glass instead of window.

I mostly only been taking 25 mg but started the 13th of Jan 50 mg and again the 30th of last month is when I started the medicine at 25 mg. This is just so screwed up cause I was on Lamictal 100 mg but this one is Lamictal XR two different ones I guess, not a problem on the Lamictal Regular.

the cycling just never seems to end. I am on 225mgs of Lamictal, 1600mgs of Neurontin and 1.5mgs of Klonopin. I have Xanax XR as a PRN and had too take that, along with 5 melatonin and 3 Benadrtyl to sleep last night; ridiculous...I still have a bunch of Xanax XR floating around in my system and it's not putting a dent into the mania. I made the mistake of stopping two meds and replacing them with one. I was taking Bupropion and Lamictal, and switched to Effexor. I have been on Effxor for three weeks. I have had the worst fatigue I have ever felt. So now I am unsure if it was coming off the Lamictal or if it was the Effexor. I am going to stop the Effexor, but I don't know if I should go back on just the Lamictal, The lamictal When I first started taking it, up to 200 mg worked fairly well.

Hi everybody: I take Effexor XR, and have recently been told to take Lamictal to help the other drug along a bit and to stabilize my mood because of the PTSD. I was also told to watch for Stephens-Johnson's syndrome. Is this rare? It kind of scared me and I haven't started the med yet. I'm allergic to alot of meds, is this an allergy? Is anyone on this, and does it seem to help?

I've relapsed again, as I have posted in the past. However, I seem to be getting better, my doc upped my Lamictal from 200mgs to 225mgs. It's been rough, over the past few weeks, I have been a human guinea pig. We've been trying various medications and they've all caused me more problems. Lithium agitated the heck out of me and Seroquel started to make me cycle harder.

If your wanting to just take both dosesbat night (which I assume its because you get drousy) I wouldnt advise doing so without asking your doctor who prescribed you the med. Your dosing times are so far apart, maybe taking both doses at night could over medicae you, im not quite sure what can happen but being that your original dosing times are so far apart, I wouldnt do it without asking the doc first just to be on the safe side!!

ever since i've started taking lamacil, i've gained weight. i'm often hungry, and i'm often hungry, when i recognize, i shouldn't be. i've read posts that say it doesn't cause weight gain, but my weight gain started with taking lamactil, and i'm definitely searching for food at times that i shouldn't be.

The other day, the pharmacy could only fill my 200mgs tablets of Lamictal, but had to order in the 50mg tabs. I took my 250mgs on Saturday and then, on Sunday, I took 200mgs in the morning, received my refill of 50mgs at noon and took it then. I'll tell you after taking that 50mg dose, I felt the best I have in months. I felt the way I initially felt when I started Lamictal; calm, evened out and just generally kosher.

However, she said I may be the treatment resistence type so prescribed me 25MG of lamictal to add to my 37.5mg of Effexor XR. I am supposed to take 12.5mg/day for one week then start on the full 25mg. I took the first 12.5mg last night and this morning I woke up feeling hungover, with tense twitching muscles and slight vision troubles. I felt groggy until about 3pm today. Is this normal when starting this medicine--will these side effects wear off usually? thanks all.

helped more and has had less side effects than anyother I have been on. I have also tried zoloft, prozax, paxil, and wellbutrin xr. Anyways, I was just wondering what expeirences anyone else has had on abilify? I know it effects everyone different but.....

I was taking Lamictal before I got pregnant and stopped as soon as I found out i was pregnant. After i had her I was put on xanax xr and lithium, I have been on lithium very long but lately I'm very very irriatable and angry, the more time goes on since giving birth the worse my symptoms get..same way after I had my 3yr old son. I am on seroquel xr 300mg, along with lamictal. Doc says I may be able to eliminate the seroquel if I get stabilized with lamictal.

I currently on Lamictal, Neurontin, and Klonopin. However, there has been discussion of weaning off of the latter medications and adding a mood stabilizer to the mix. However, I am very sensitive to medication; Seroquel kicked me into a manic episode. Given this fact, what are some of the effective mood stabilizers for mania? What are some of your experiences with said stabilizers?

wants me to start trgretol xr 200mg for two weeks and then double it. I am not sure I want to try with the restrictions I now have plus the drug reactions. I'd like to hear from some epople who have been using this medication and living well with it.

I took Effexor Xr 37.5 mg for a month and decided to get off the medication. I will never again take this medication. The "brain zaps" are horrible and the feelings are just as bad. I thought since I wasn't on this drug long enough that I wouldn't have side-effects, wrong! I'm also not happy with the way this drug is being marketed and the lack of mentioning of these "zaps".
