lamictal

1192491 tn?1265031829 The Lamictal has been a very good medication for me; it stabilizes my mood very well. I have a big turn around since being placed on this medication last summer. I have had my rough patches, but we have found that increasing the Lamictal and tinkering with the dosing schedule has been good. It helps raise my mood, to a point, but it does tend to make me emotionally flat. This is a good thing for me; it quells my anxiety.
Avatar n tn ever since i've started taking lamacil, i've gained weight. i'm often hungry, and i'm often hungry, when i recognize, i shouldn't be. i've read posts that say it doesn't cause weight gain, but my weight gain started with taking lamactil, and i'm definitely searching for food at times that i shouldn't be.
1134609 tn?1269272200 ll tell you after taking that 50mg dose, I felt the best I have in months. I felt the way I initially felt when I started Lamictal; calm, evened out and just generally kosher. I talked to my shrink about splitting up the doses between the morning and noon; 200mgs in the morning and 50mg at 12pm. Yesterday, I took my 200mgs in the morning and continued to feel good. But, when I took the 50mgs at noon, I stayed even for an hour and then became very, very, agitated...
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed Bipolar II with minor depression and was put on Lamictal teetering up 25 mg every 2 weeks with 150mg Wellbutrin (Zyban) the aim was to reach 200mg and see how I feel, by the start of the seventh week, I got tiny itchy patches on my cheeks that flaired up after I took the Lamictal… so stopped lamictal, (remained on the wellbutrin) and went on an antihistamine (Atarax) for a 2 weeks 25/50mg, did some surface (72 hour skin contact) allergy tests and came negative for Lamictal so I w
Avatar n tn t have to wait for an answer #2 they usually know more about things like dosing schedules than the pdoc. They are the medication experts. I've been told to take lamictal 2 times a day so you may want to ask about that too.
Avatar f tn Some are even in common use such as Lamictal. Wellbutrin being an anti-depressent can sometimes worsen mania in bipolar. Lithium is highly effective but for some people can cause cognitive blunting and sedation. With antipsychotics, the newest ones Abilify, Fanapt and Saphris have less of a potential of weight gain but as they can change heart rhythms you would have to ask your psychiatrist if they could be used safely if you have heart valve problems.
Avatar n tn the medications are wellbutrin, lamictal and prevacid . I only know what my tsh is.
Avatar m tn I broke out in the rash -- it was HELL for two weeks. And it really surprised me because I'm not allergic to anything! It can be a very big deal if you break out in the rash.
Avatar n tn Topamax is used alone or in combination with other medications to prevent seizures in adults and children who are at least 2 years old. Topamax is also used to prevent migraine headaches. It will only prevent migraine headaches or reduce the number of attacks. It will not treat a headache that has already begun. Topamax may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Avatar f tn July of last year I had a daughter born with several holes in her heart, VSD, and aortic coratation of the aorta. Since than she has had two open heart surgeries and nothing genetically was found worng. I was taking lamictal 200mg and vyvanse 70mg. I found out I was pregnant Nov 2010 stopped the vyvanse the very next day, but was told to continue taking lamictal. The doctors say there aren't studies that prove lamictal causes birth defect and there aren't studies that say it won't.
Avatar n tn These serious skin reactions are most likely to happen within the first 8 weeks of treatment with LAMICTAL. Serious skin reactions occur more often in children than in adults. Rashes may be more likely to occur if you: take LAMICTAL in combination with valproate (brand names are Depakene (valproic acid)* and Depakote (divalproex sodium)*), take a higher starting dose of LAMICTAL than your doctor prescribed, or increase your dose of LAMICTAL faster than prescribed.
Avatar f tn Hi people who have seizures can seem like they have add, this is because when you have a seizure's, you can have a hard time learning and hearing what is being said to you while you are having a seizure and lose time. There for a lot of children I think, that are not add but maybe having other things going on, and missed because the doctors just think of add and not look at everything that is going on with young children these day's.
603015 tn?1329862973 Because of the cognitive dulling effects of Lamictal, I have to make sure I keep my medications in an AM/PM container. I fill it up the night before and use it, always. Even on the weekends. My problem was, I found myself double dosing on my medications here and there; I had simply forgotten I had taken them.. When I do that with Lamictal, I get a pretty harsh reminder; it winds me up and makes me very, very sick to my stomach..
Avatar f tn Has anyone had ringing in their ears due to Lamictal? i have been on Lamictal for almost 2 years. Over the last 6 months I have had four ear infections and now a constant ringing in my ears. I have seen a ENT doc and my hearing is perfect, nothing else is wrong, only the Lamictal that I am on. My doc one day said oh the ringing could be because of the lamictal which made me start obsessing over it, did not help, and now I have started weening myself off the lamictal but it is not an easy road.
Avatar f tn So today i took the first Lamictal 25 mg and will take another lamictal 25 mg at night with seroquel but i still want to keep taking the topomax and want to know if anyone had done this combo.
4971738 tn?1390565384 It sounds like we are on the same page. Have you read my post called mail causes severe anxiety? It's hard to leave the house most days, I'm always being reminded by my kids the things I forget to do...... yada yada yada. The only thing that makes me feel better is taking a step in the right direction, meaning give your doc a call and let the nurse know what is going on. She will give the doc your message and get back to you with the doc's response.
15695260 tn?1549593113 The research followed participants for 15 years and tested children when they were very young. They believe this will help delay or prevent diabetes in those predisposed to develop it. https://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=170637 Would you test your kids to find out if they are at high risk of developing Type 1 Diabetes?
Avatar m tn Oh, I would definitely not go off all your meds at one time. The thing I would recommend is changeing one thing at a time, until you get on the "perfect" regimen that works for you. Even though you are in Grad school right now, mild dosing changes on your medications should not affect your performance in school. I'm curious to know what exactly your diagnosis is, but at the least i can guess anxiety and depression.
1441157 tn?1284075251 Citalopram is the first port of call in New Zealand for anti-depressants. Of course, I have no idea how it works with Lamictal...
Avatar n tn My daughter-in-law, sho is bipolar, just became pregnant, it was not planned, she is on a lot of serious medication, lamictal, topomax, cymbalta, xanax. She is seeing her doctor's this week. We are all terrified that there will be something seriously wrong with the baby. Any advice or help would be appreciated.
925572 tn?1246540031 s not so gloomy neither so bleak. My experience with the meds in general, whether xanax, lamictal (tried the infantile dosage only), you name it, is that you can't in general lower your dose suddenly or even smoothly, you will eventually have to increase it as you proceed, I compare this with trying to reach the land while swimming, you will meet the high tide then low one, then high etc... , in fact airoplanes do the same, they only keep landing - i.e.
Avatar m tn i take lamictal, abilify, lexapro, thyroxine and klonopin in the mornings. i also take abilify three other times/. day and xanax and klonopin as needed. i guess it is whenever the med suits you or whenever it suits you to take it. talk to your pdoc about it anyway. that is the best way to handle it.
433485 tn?1321813390 I started feeling better and my pdoc and I decided to drop the klonopin to 1 mg in the am, 1/2 mg. in the afternoon, and 1 mg. in the evening. Essentially cutting the klonipin in half in the afternoon. Now, I am starting to feel some anxiety creeping back, especially in the am. Do you think it could be related to the slight decrease of klonopin? thanks.
Avatar m tn still taking the bupropion 150 and lamictal 100 but have had to start taking a lot more klonopin because to the rise in anxiety and I don't like taking this.
Avatar f tn For the past 10 years I have suffered from Myclonic Epilepsy for which I am taking lamictal. As I have 3 small children I am frequently tired and therefore frequently jerky, often dropping breakfast or spilling milk! I don't think lamictal is particulrly effective although I haven't had a seizure for a number of years. Just over a year ago I had a brain scan which showed that I had a number of white spots, a reason was not given why I have these and I was told not to worry about it.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately generics can vary in strength and quantity. That's a fact. It makes sense to switch to them when they are available but if people encounter side effects or problems then as I said to have your psychiatrist write "dispense as written". I can't comment on Lamictal in particular but I've had many generics that didn't work where the brand did. There are many reliable websites that will confirm this. But they are still worth trying as for cost effectiveness.
Avatar n tn With sensory issues in children, you have to figure out what sets them off. I have over-sensitive senses myself, so I know what going through life is like with that. Figuring out what senses she is over or under sensitive to helps. Sometimes people will crave one sense and avoid another. Sometimes they will crave something that will overstimulate them. Anyways, figuring out what is called a "sensory diet" if you haven't already should help you.
