ever since i've started taking lamacil, i've gained weight. i'm often hungry, and i'm often hungry, when i recognize, i shouldn't be. i've read posts that say it doesn't cause weight gain, but my weight gain started with taking lamactil, and i'm definitely searching for food at times that i shouldn't be.

The other day, the pharmacy could only fill my 200mgs tablets of Lamictal, but had to order in the 50mg tabs. I took my 250mgs on Saturday and then, on Sunday, I took 200mgs in the morning, received my refill of 50mgs at noon and took it then. I'll tell you after taking that 50mg dose, I felt the best I have in months. I felt the way I initially felt when I started Lamictal; calm, evened out and just generally kosher.

The Lamictal has been a very good medication for me; it stabilizes my mood very well. I have a big turn around since being placed on this medication last summer. I have had my rough patches, but we have found that increasing the Lamictal and tinkering with the dosing schedule has been good. It helps raise my mood, to a point, but it does tend to make me emotionally flat. This is a good thing for me; it quells my anxiety.

t have to wait for an answer #2 they usually know more about things like dosing schedules than the pdoc. They are the medication experts. I've been told to take lamictal 2 times a day so you may want to ask about that too.

I am on Lamictal and have no major side effects. The scary thing about it is you can get steven johnsons syndrom from it when you first start it. I have anxiety too and that scared the crap out of me and took me two days of trying to take it to build up the courage to do it. It is suppose to be a rare possible side effect though.

No there are many other mood stabilizers. Some are even in common use such as Lamictal. Wellbutrin being an anti-depressent can sometimes worsen mania in bipolar. Lithium is highly effective but for some people can cause cognitive blunting and sedation. With antipsychotics, the newest ones Abilify, Fanapt and Saphris have less of a potential of weight gain but as they can change heart rhythms you would have to ask your psychiatrist if they could be used safely if you have heart valve problems.

my gpdoc prescribed lamictal today..cuz i told him i cant waite till the 23rd of this month to see the pdoc.. i knowing that it might take up to 4 weeks to feel this..depending on how fast my body metabolizes it.. is this the correct dosage starting out..hes got me taking 25 mgs 1 at bedtime for 2 weeks..then 50mgs at bedtime for 2 weeks..the 1 -- 100mg at bedtime then see were im at after a week on the 100mgs.. does this sound like the way that you were prescribed..

Because of the cognitive dulling effects of Lamictal, I have to make sure I keep my medications in an AM/PM container. I fill it up the night before and use it, always. Even on the weekends. My problem was, I found myself double dosing on my medications here and there; I had simply forgotten I had taken them.. When I do that with Lamictal, I get a pretty harsh reminder; it winds me up and makes me very, very sick to my stomach..

I was recently prescribed lamictal for bipolar 2. My problem is that I wake up every morning pick the bottle up, consider taking as the psychdoc ordered me to, then I put it back down, without taking any. DEFINITELY, you have to go to the ER now and bring your lamictal and other meds with you. You have to go now, because if it is the bad rash, you have to be treated immediately. In your case you also need to look at how long you have been taking Prozac (fluxotine) because after many years of usage Prozac can lose it effectivness as the result of resistance built up by your body.

Hi my psych. doctor prescribed me Lamictal to deal with persistent depression (initial dosing of 25mg). I have already had a bout of steven-johnson's-syndrom due to the nasty drug tegratol. It almost killed me when I was 17. It gave me a severe rash that lasted well over 6 months from head to toe. I know my dr is going to suggest Lamictal when I go on the 10th. I don't like Lamictal but the drs like it for bipolar depression. I relapsed while on Lexapro and my doc started me on Effexor and Lamictal. The effexor was horrible for me, I felt awful and my blood pressure skyrocketed. The Lamictal is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. I am taking 200mg daily. My doc weaned me from Effexor and put me back on prozac 20mg (I stopped it several years back because it was making me extremely irritable). The prozac does not seem to be working like it did before.
