lamictal

5764859 tn?1400881756 I use Lamictal as my mood stabilizer and take Effexor and Abilify for my depression. The combo of all of these had made all of the difference in the world for me. I take 200mg/day of the Lamictal and for me it worked pretty much right away but seemed to lose its effectiveness after the first 6-7 months. So after getting up to the full dose 200mg, my doc added Effexor and then eventually the Abilify. I'm BP2 also and have tried so many different meds over the years I lost count.
552012 tn?1272855991 I use http://www.77canadapharmacy.com/ They are very thorough and you do need a prescription. Hope this helps. Colleen PS What med are you on?
Avatar n tn As you can see alcohol use is not recommended for use with Zonegran in particular. but is usually not recommended for use with most medications. That is because it can increase or decrease the effectiveness of the medication or cause unwanted side effects. Personally, although I haven't found any literature that indicates that seizures will occur if you use it with Zonegran and Lamictal, I would avoid it completely or minimize its' usage.
Avatar n tn Topamax is used alone or in combination with other medications to prevent seizures in adults and children who are at least 2 years old. Topamax is also used to prevent migraine headaches. It will only prevent migraine headaches or reduce the number of attacks. It will not treat a headache that has already begun. Topamax may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Avatar f tn July of last year I had a daughter born with several holes in her heart, VSD, and aortic coratation of the aorta. Since than she has had two open heart surgeries and nothing genetically was found worng. I was taking lamictal 200mg and vyvanse 70mg. I found out I was pregnant Nov 2010 stopped the vyvanse the very next day, but was told to continue taking lamictal. The doctors say there aren't studies that prove lamictal causes birth defect and there aren't studies that say it won't.
Avatar f tn I am in the field of law enforcement and have recently been diagnosed with PTSD and depression due to an on-the-job incident and numerous simultaneous personal traumas. I was sent to the Psychiatrist used by our Department to deal with situations like this. I am very happy with the treatment so far, but today, I met with a Board Certified Advanced Nurse Practitioner who specializes in medications for anxiety and PTSD.
Avatar n tn These serious skin reactions are most likely to happen within the first 8 weeks of treatment with LAMICTAL. Serious skin reactions occur more often in children than in adults. Rashes may be more likely to occur if you: take LAMICTAL in combination with valproate (brand names are Depakene (valproic acid)* and Depakote (divalproex sodium)*), take a higher starting dose of LAMICTAL than your doctor prescribed, or increase your dose of LAMICTAL faster than prescribed.
Avatar f tn Hi people who have seizures can seem like they have add, this is because when you have a seizure's, you can have a hard time learning and hearing what is being said to you while you are having a seizure and lose time. There for a lot of children I think, that are not add but maybe having other things going on, and missed because the doctors just think of add and not look at everything that is going on with young children these day's.
Avatar n tn some abnormalities that do not meet the EEG criteria for a seizure), which can occur during and out of an attack -prolonged monitoring can often not show anything as was the case in your daughter (2) Diastat is one of the main treatments used for prolonged breakthrough seizures in children (3) Lamictal has been used in migraine disorder and in some adults it is helpful though there is little research on its use in migraine and what studies that have been done have not shown it to be as effec
Avatar f tn Has anyone had ringing in their ears due to Lamictal? i have been on Lamictal for almost 2 years. Over the last 6 months I have had four ear infections and now a constant ringing in my ears. I have seen a ENT doc and my hearing is perfect, nothing else is wrong, only the Lamictal that I am on. My doc one day said oh the ringing could be because of the lamictal which made me start obsessing over it, did not help, and now I have started weening myself off the lamictal but it is not an easy road.
Avatar f tn So today i took the first Lamictal 25 mg and will take another lamictal 25 mg at night with seroquel but i still want to keep taking the topomax and want to know if anyone had done this combo.
Avatar m tn I burnt my arm in the summer and the rash comes back to that place very often. With Lamictal it was just in more places. AT the moment I have no rash. I am so far on 150 mg as I started 3 months ago. I have also Citalopram 20 mg. Lamictal is helpful and suits me well - even thought I had some crash recently - therefore increase to 150 mg but I think it is just a process to find the right dose. Some ppl are on 200 mg or even 400 mg. I feel much better on it than before.
Avatar f tn So they started me on Lamictal a wk and a half ago. I feel more depressed than ever. I've taken lamictal before and it seems to help at obviously higher doses. Most of you know with Lamictal you have to start out slow. So I'm still on 25mg right now due to start 50mg in a few days. I don't know if I should contribute this(worsening depression) to the Lamictal or just say that it's not had enough time to work. What helped you all with your depression?
Avatar f tn I have started taking Lamictal and it seems to be working to keep the mania under control. But the pills taste so bad. What are some other medication options?
603015 tn?1329862973 Yeah, that's not the kind of rash to screw around with...But, if you were also on Epilim at the same time, your increase in getting a rash jumps quite a bit higher. In fact, that's another reason why my shrink and I weren't too concerned with the rash; a lot of the Steven-Johnson Syndrome cases in clinical studies involved folks (particularly children) taking both medications. Honestly, most shrinks won't give you both valproate (Epilim) and Lamictal at the same time.
994257 tn?1266242692 I am sure I will be going through a medication change in the near future. I think Lamictal is use for a mood stabilizer, not exactly sure. Either way be sure that you are also on a mood stabilizer while taking antidepressants. Taking antidepressants alone for people with bipolar disorder can be bad as it can cause rapid cycling or a manic episode. Another thing to remember is that different medications can work differently for each person.
Avatar n tn All medications have withdrawal symptoms even if they aren't medications such as Benzodiazepenes where a person builds up a physical tolerance to them. I'm sure there are ones specific to Lamictal but there are for any medication. Dizziness and nausea can happen with Lamictal and did with me but I got used to them more so then Depakoate and Lithium that caused vomiting for me.
Avatar f tn If he is not, to keep him clean you might consider talking to him about a Vivitrol injection which will help him with cravings and prevent him from use. You can read up on that in my blog on Naltrexone therapy. Stay wall and take care of yourself.
Avatar f tn I know that when I am in a low or high mood my memory gets slurped down a tube. I have the memory of an elephant, or at least I had. I had my Lamictal upped and it has in general (when I'm not in pain) raised my mood and it's made me have clearer thinking. You are on a pretty low dose of Lamictal, it could be that you aren't in a "therapeudic range" for that or some of your meds, but that's only a guess, you should speak to your pdoc about your memory issues.
899491 tn?1243773627 I think everyone knows that I have this condition. My children have facebook and they have connections with old friends they use to go to school with, have siblings who still go to the school or parents who work for the school. In a community...gossip abounds. Gossip is apart of human nature. The school I work for is trying their best to accomidate me with my disorder but I think they don't have a clue what to do.
Avatar m tn I have been on lamotragine (generic Lamictal) for 7 years, no physical addictive qualities. I am recovering addict, I don't even take Nyquil. I have severe depressive mood swings without it. I tried lithium first: gained weight. Hated it.
1540869 tn?1351214013 For what its worth.I was on Lamactil for aprox. 8 years for seizures. The seizures were a result from Chemo after breast cancer. The lamactil at first helped the seizures. but I had balance issues. I got to the point of using a cane.(broke a shoulder) The Lamactil was increased because I had an increase in seizures . I Had more siezures so again it was increased, I could not think, concentrate or remember things. I insisted the Dr. take me off of it. He would only do it in the hospital .
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor, but i dont think getting off the lamictal will help you be happy and in the end probably make it worse.. I also take lamictal, have for years. Sometimes things need to be added to get you stable. It's just the way it is. I have to agree that you need to speak with your doctor about how you feel. Don't give up on meds cause one isn't working well. There are others. Unfortunately I don't know ANYone who can manage bipolar on their own without meds.
1441157 tn?1284075251 Citalopram is the first port of call in New Zealand for anti-depressants. Of course, I have no idea how it works with Lamictal...
Avatar n tn My daughter-in-law, sho is bipolar, just became pregnant, it was not planned, she is on a lot of serious medication, lamictal, topomax, cymbalta, xanax.
