I take Lamictal and zoloft together. I recently had to take a drug test and I tested positive for pcp. Do you think one of the drugs or two of the drugs together could have made me test positive for PCP. I don't take any other drugs, including recreational drugs, at this time.

I use Lamictal as my mood stabilizer and take Effexor and Abilify for my depression. The combo of all of these had made all of the difference in the world for me. I take 200mg/day of the Lamictal and for me it worked pretty much right away but seemed to lose its effectiveness after the first 6-7 months. So after getting up to the full dose 200mg, my doc added Effexor and then eventually the Abilify. I'm BP2 also and have tried so many different meds over the years I lost count.

Does oxycontin as recreational use exhibit symptoms of indifference and apathy and unconcern over everyday obligations and responsibilities which prior to use were contradictory to the persons character. In other words a complete change of personally untecogisable by loved ones?

To joke about some one considering taking cocaine for recreational use who has had three bypass surgeries and is taking blood thinners is just a little reckless. Takes all kinds I guess........................

the use of this drug for my situation. It is a drug used for bi-polar disorder and seizures. I thought that Atavan would be the drug of choice, and after reading more about Lamotrigine, I have become actually quite shocked about this recommendation. Has anyone else been given such advice for the use of Lamotrigine. I show no signs of bi-polar disorder whatsoever. Thank you.

I have started taking Lamictal and it seems to be working to keep the mania under control. But the pills taste so bad. What are some other medication options?

NOT FOR LONG...YOU MAY START OUT ONLY ON WEEKEND BUT IT WILL escalate. i used coke for 5 years heavily and i started out only on the weekends. before long it was everyday all day and every night all night. it is a horrible drug the eventually completely robs you of yourself.

I am, or should I say was, a recreational drug user. In the last two months I smoked pot regularly and took approx. 3 vicodin 10mg and 1 percocet 10mg to help with back pain from a car accident. I don't regularly use pain meds and am far from addicted, I am just so worried that those couple pills hurt my little one. :( help!

So they started me on Lamictal a wk and a half ago. I feel more depressed than ever. I've taken lamictal before and it seems to help at obviously higher doses. Most of you know with Lamictal you have to start out slow. So I'm still on 25mg right now due to start 50mg in a few days. I don't know if I should contribute this(worsening depression) to the Lamictal or just say that it's not had enough time to work. What helped you all with your depression?

I am sure I will be going through a medication change in the near future. I think Lamictal is use for a mood stabilizer, not exactly sure. Either way be sure that you are also on a mood stabilizer while taking antidepressants. Taking antidepressants alone for people with bipolar disorder can be bad as it can cause rapid cycling or a manic episode. Another thing to remember is that different medications can work differently for each person.

And anti-depressents if given to a person with bipolar will make them manic. She needs a mood stabilizer. The most common ones are Lithium, Depakoate and Lamictal. The safest one of the three is Lamictal. It has a good side effect profile but there is a potential for a rare rash but if monitored its safe. I took it and had no severe side effects.

I have spoken to my psychopharmocologist about that and in me after a while the Lamictal made me manic (I am on another medication now) and he said that is noted that Lamictal is better on depression than mania and in some cases it can worsen mania which is one reason they use it less often now than other mood stabilizers or use an anti-psychotic instead despite the Lamictal having less side effects.

was diagnosed as being bipolar. The prescription that he got was a generic form of Lamictal. I visited him today & saw the pill bottle, it says "41" but there were only 9 pills left in the container. The date was Dec. 19 - that's only been 7 days ago & it says to take "1 for the lst 7 days & then take 2 a day". I asked him why there were so few in the bottle & he said the pharmacy didn't have enough to fill the entire prescription.

I seem to be very forgetfull, at least that's what my husband tells me. I feel confused at times and clear at times. It may go with my mood. I use to be the best speller and can't think of how to spell simple words. I get frustrated. I'm on depakote, Lamictal 100mg, Lexapro, and amitriptyline for pain from my fibromyalgia.

I have been on lamotragine (generic Lamictal) for 7 years, no physical addictive qualities. I am recovering addict, I don't even take Nyquil. I have severe depressive mood swings without it. I tried lithium first: gained weight. Hated it.

If it is possible keep yourself as busy as possible and try to develop a good network of friends or at least some recreational activities. Meds will take the edge off but believe me they are no cure and there is no cure for bipolar. It is a fact you have to except but it is not a death sentence and it can be managed. I am on Lamictal and it works for me. I am a type 1 and although I still cycle pretty fast between mania and depression it is not near as bad as it was before the meds.

For what its worth.I was on Lamactil for aprox. 8 years for seizures. The seizures were a result from Chemo after breast cancer. The lamactil at first helped the seizures. but I had balance issues. I got to the point of using a cane.(broke a shoulder) The Lamactil was increased because I had an increase in seizures . I Had more siezures so again it was increased, I could not think, concentrate or remember things. I insisted the Dr. take me off of it. He would only do it in the hospital .

I would be interested in hearing their symptoms, what they have done about the anxiety, and all the details. My anxiety was brought on by recreational drug use and while I am much better, I still have a little ways to go. Thanks.
