Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain causes limping

knee-pain

Avatar f tn 51 yo F, diagnosed with Runners Knee, have been in pain, swollen and limping for 7 months. Dr. says to just keep coming back for cortisone, but it really does nothing. I can hardly walk, I am in pain, do I have to live like this? Is my doctor on the right track? Maybe I have meniscus tears??? It affects everything... walking, sleeping, working. Help!! Also, I have had xrays only. Shows no arthritis. In both knees, although one is worse than the other.
Avatar m tn Symptoms include pain along the inner or outer side of the knee, stiffness, swelling, and sometimes “locking” of the knee. A piece of torn cartilage may get caught between moving parts of the knee joint and causes the sound. A clicking sound may be heard when moving the knee. The pain may be worse when squatting. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I have pain in leg that started in calf of leg, then went to knee. Now my entire leg hurts when I try to walk. I went to my doctor and he said it is arthritis of the knee. Can arthritis of the knee affect the leg this badly, to the point that I cannot put all my weight on the leg and am limping? He ruled out any clots in leg. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Avatar m tn I really hope that the knee issue is due to limping and overexerting the knee, and that the joint pain is due to the anxiety that this situation has caused. I feel great in my overall health except from this. And when I dont think about it, say while talking to a friend, I feel NOTHING at all. Any experiences or tips would be very helpful. Sorry for the long post, I just felt like I had to let it all out...
Avatar n tn i have no pain in my knee but im limping and it feels like my knee is about to snap
Avatar m tn 7 months ago I was playing soccer with my daughter and came down on my leg wrong. I felt immediate pain in my left knee for days. Went to the Orthopedic doctor, who was suspicious of a torn meniscus as the X-Ray didn't show anything. I returned to the doctor a few weeks later after an MRI. The doctor said no tear was seen but you could clearly see a non-displaced fracture in my fibula. He gave me a cortisone shot, pain meds, told me to rest and it would heal in about 10 weeks.
Avatar f tn Last year all I did was swing my legs out of bed and stand up when extreme pain shot through my knee. For the next 2 weeks I was limping and the pain was pretty severe. It started 5 years ago with pain going up and down the stairs. I saw an orthopedic and he told me it was overuse. Just 5 months ago I went to see him again and he ran an MRI and an X-ray. The X-ray showed nothing and the MRI showed thinning of the cartilage.
Avatar m tn Started a year ago, when i fell off a stepladder replacing a lightbulb. The step ladder was about waist height, and when i fell, i landed on my knee caps first on the tile floors. I spent the next two weeks limping. A month later, during one of my performances as an acrobat, i ran towards a waist height brick wall and jumped over, mistimed it, and ended up bashing my knee caps against both. Again, i was limping for the month. It was okay, i didn't feel any pain for two weeks after the month.
Avatar f tn The pain has gotten extensively worse now affecting the knee. I went back to doctor and the doctor said it is arthritis of the knee and that, at this point, no tests were necessary. Well, in spite of anti-inflammatory meds, I cannot put my full weight down on my leg without pain that seems more concentrated directly under the knee. I am walking around limping. I am afraid that if something else is going on, I may be injuring it more by walking on it. Can you answer the following for me?
Avatar f tn Hi. I have had persistent and worsening knee pain for about a year. I have been to my GP about it explaining that I physically can't walk without wearing knee supports (often a tube support and patellar strap together!) because my knees feel like they are going to give way. My job as a waitress before being furloughed for the time being was hell and I would often be limping by the end of the shift.
Avatar f tn Hi I have had a ligament reconstruction on my left knee and 11 months on I am still in pain and I cannot run or walk for longer than 10 minutes at a time and I end up in so much pain I end up limping straight away is this normal

Avatar n tn I have had extreme knee pain (to the point where I can now barely walk as it is), and I don't know what the problem is. In March 2008, I had an operation to help remove a torn miniscus, and the pain went away after physical therapy. Now it's back (been back for about 5 months), and in BOTH knees now, rather than just one. Went back to the same doctor that did the operation, and he gave me some anti-inflammatories that worked for a week then quit working.
Avatar m tn finally the pain was enough, i got an mri and on september 20 2010 i got a repair on my right knee. it is on the inside of the knee, and basically what i was told is they pinned the miniscus together. its been almost 3 months, and i am still have troubles walking, and was supposed to be back to work 3 weeks ago. i do physio every second day, and am a usually very healthy person. any advice???
Avatar f tn Does anyone have knee pain like a torn meniscus pain? I went to stand up and I couldn't hardly put weight on it. My husband mentioned maybe it's nerve pain? Thanks!!
Avatar f tn I was involved in an accident where the MRI states I have moderate cartilage loss around patella, joint effusion and a marginal flap on patella ridge. This has cased popping, grinding painful sensations in the knee. Its very hard for me to walk as I'm always limping ect......Is sergury recommended for this?

2108855 tn?1334106269 I am still unable to hike, bike, or even go shopping without limping. However, the past few weeks, the pain has changed from bone pain to pain radiating from my lower back all the way to my toes. I have never felt this pain before. It is very constant and it will not go away. It is not in the bones, rather than the muscles of my lower-left back, left thigh, left calf and all the way to my toes.
Avatar f tn My pain is mostly on the side of my knee cap and it swells just by standing, i tried mentioning it to my doctor but he keeps making me wait to see if it gets better, he also recently put my in a patella j brace, to keep my knee in place, but it seems to be making my pain worst.
Avatar m tn i got a bad knee if i try to work on it i start limping and it throbbs and ackes even in t he summer time is that arthritis or do u think theres something else wrong in there
Avatar f tn As she was putting him down he twisted out of her hands and landed badly. He was limping and meowing in pain. When I first saw him he was very calm, but hiding in the hallway. He allowed me to feel all four of his legs, squeeze along the knee joints and paws. I tried playing with a laser light to see if he would walk for me and he was very lethargic. In a person I would call his reactions "guarded", he was walking but very slowly and not with the usual vigor with which he played.

Avatar m tn Sudden limping in a child could result from a number of causes, some of which may not be obviously visible and may be associated with pain referred to other regions. A few causes include infections/ inflammations, fractures, growths/ masses, Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease., neural/ muscular disorders, a few blood disorders etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this was useful. Take care!
Avatar f tn m 61 years old which I really not really to go through the pain, agony and inconvienience of a knee replacement. I heard someone say that there is a procedure in which gel can be injected into the knee to act as temporary cartilage. Do you know if this is true and how long will this gel last or if there are any side effects, before one will have to eventually get a knee replacement. With all the recall of these artifical parts, I'm a little leary of getting these parts into my body.
