Avatar m tn Hello, the last few months, ive had pain above my knee cap, if i press on the muscle or tendor that seems to attach to the top of the knee cap, it is quite sore right where it connects to the knee cap, and when walking its ok, but stairs it really is sore, sitting down and getting up, kneeling. Ive tried applying heat to it, then stretching, then applying ice going for walks, stretching, seems to give temporary releif.
Avatar m tn is the left knee, and a recent accident disclosed a torn cartilage and arthritis in the left knee (and some swelling behind the knee.....no pain, just swollen). One injection of Cartisone and 1 weekly injection of Hyaluronic Acid for 3 weeks brought some relief, but very little. I read about Castor Oil Packs and within 1 hour, I eliminated the swelling (had been swollen for almost 4 months) and daily treatments of COP has eliminated 95% of all discomfort....
Avatar n tn My Husband is now 28 years old and suffers from chronic pain in his left knee and hip. The pain started in February of 2007 and quickly became so bad he needs a cane to walk. He has weakness in his leg and it sometimes "gives out".
Avatar f tn So as you can see, arthritis can cause an overall knee pain. Ligament injury causes pain to worsen on walking, bending and stretching the knee. Meniscii too if torn or injured, result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint. It can also be tendinitis due to inflammation of tendon at the knee joint.
1961313 tn?1326290364 I have problems with my knees, just general stiffness-but one day I had to get down on my right knee and the pain was extreme,it wasn't necessarily in the knee but to the right side of the knee,it felt like the skin was splitting into,I look and the skin looked fine,so I don't know if it's the tendon or the muscle what ever it is,is very painful,in fact I can't get down on my knees any longer

Avatar f tn ve had 3 hip implants and the pain from the hip causes pain ALL the way down my leg. If you stop and think about it your entire leg is connected to your knee and therefore it WILL affect your entire leg. I hope that you will give us the missing information such as your EXACT diagnosis and like I said we might be able to be of more help to you. :) Looking forward to your update.........

Avatar m tn I have been abusing oxycontin for about 5 years now and am just tired of the whole thing. I get 70 20mg pills a month for legit pain ( 2 herniated disc's and 4 knee surgeries ) the problem is that I break them and some times take way more than I should, some times 10-12 a day. I want to taper off slowly because I want to minimize withdrawals as much as possible. I have no idea as to how to even set up a good taper plan.
Avatar f tn But, I got permanent swelling from last 3 weeks and pain also. Pain is in my lower and upper part of knee. I tried cooling and hot cycle belt of wrap but still pain exists. This all started from nov 07. I never had injury with my knees. Completed my blood test and routine check up in January 08 but everything is normal. I never had consultation with my knees.
1070610 tn?1279274410 Also I cannot relax knee down while slightly bent (spread legs apart with slightly bent knee) It also causes strain on the knee area and feels like its pulling the knee cap. With the last relapse the quad muscle (left side only) started tightening around the top and inside of the knee and slowly worked up the leg to the top and groin. I am waiting to see a physio about it but just wondering if this is spasticity or some other problem.
Avatar n tn m now 32). The pain started below my knee, and is now accompanied with pain shooting down my shin. It also now feels as if something from the top of my knee is pulling as well. I am hurting, and I don't know what else to do. I am also taking Naperson (sp?), which is not helping. I can't take anything more than that, because pain meds knock me on my butt & I don't want that. Please help with other suggestions while I await my doctors appointment.
Avatar m tn Hello! I'm 14 and I've been having knee pain for 2 years. One doctor told me it's growing pains but I don't really believe it, becuase I don't grow much anymore. The second doctor told me it's because I don't have enough synovial fluid in my knee joints and he offered me injections. I don't know what to do. What if there's something else that causes this pain? I've also got knock knees. Can this be the problem? Please help me!
556621 tn?1284217913 At times, in the morning especially, she finds it difficult to walk and almost impossible to bend at the knee. It is obviously a tissue swelling that causes this, but what is causing the tissue to swell? Is it a form of Bursitis, perhaps, or are there other issues that have these common symptoms. It stays for a few day/weeks then subsides, then returns. Should I take her in for an MRI or try some at home remedies/recovery habits to curb it?
Avatar m tn Pain on the outer side of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis. Ligament injury causes pain to worsen on walking, bending and stretching the knee. Meniscii too if torn or injured, result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint. Pain worsens on walking.
Avatar n tn Any ideas? I have seen multiple doctors and specialists and no one can give me an answer, even my knee specialist has given up!
Avatar f tn I am an athlete and I play basketball. I have extreme pain in my knee and calf while running. It also hurts to bend down and then stand back up. I also have discomfort walking up and down stairs, and sometimes walking. I don't know what it is but I would really appreciate some help and answers. Thanks.

I was on massive dosage of oxy to control my pain but since I got clean I have searched for alternative ways to control my pain and have found that there herbs really helped. Take a look at the article below it explains the hows & whys: http://www.livestrong.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have pain in the tibia of my left leg, which I think is below the knee cap. The pain started when I was 18, after I got an injury during a basketball game. Now I'm 20 and I still feel the pain only when I engage in physical activity. What's wrong with me. Could these by osgood schlatters disease?

Avatar m tn I appreciate your concerns about your grandmother and I agree that the pain needs to be investigated. Usually knee locking and pain after total knee replacement is due to formation of fibrous tissue around the patella. Rarely, it is due to blocked or pinched popliteal artery that runs along the back of knee.
Avatar f tn Hello and Welcome to our Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your mom's continuing pain. There is no good reason that she should still have pain from the removal of the vein. Has this been investigated? Could they have damaged the structure of her knee during surgery? Has she has any imaging on the knee to determine the cause of her pain? When my mom had a hip replacement they tore the meniscus in one of her knees. his occurred while they were repositioning the extremity.
