Avatar f tn I got my stones for the first time while pregnant. It was miserably painful! I guess I passed it because it settled off and the pain went away. Then when my baby was about 6 months old, I had one move in my other kidney. It was miserable again. After much running, walking, bouncing, and flooding my system with water, I finally passed it right before the urologist got his chance to fish it out! I was sooo relieved!
Avatar f tn I have Sjogren's syndrone and develop kidney stones often and they usually pass on their on. I had one crushed three years ago. I now have one that is so large with smaller ones lodged inbetween it that have blocked of my right kidney (seen in a CT scan today). I do not want to go through the crushing again.....what are other procedures? Would like to be prepared before talking to urologist.
Avatar n tn Anytime you get stones there is always a chance or recurrence. Kidney stones could have made you have high bp as the blockage might do that. Your kidneys are a big reason that we have regulated blood pressure.
Avatar n tn This may help show any structural abnormalities ( adhesions, strictures ) or even stones in the urinary tract. Some stones ( cystine stones ) may not be readily detected in plain radiographs. A Ct scan may also rule out involvement of other structures that may case the pain ( gastrointestinal structures). Discuss this with your physician as well as your need for pain management. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I have a 14.20 mm stone in my right kidney which was removed by lithotripsy and now as per ultrasound report the kidney is clear and now it is two month since the treatment. But after two months still i have now a different pressure like pain at the right side (back side) due to this pressure i always feel anxiety and tiredness. When i walk or move around there is no pressure (pain) but when i sit or lay down the pressure feeling starts.
Avatar m tn I had a kidney stone removed 3 days ago. I don't know what procedure they used, all I know it that I now have a green pipe thingy in my penis. Every time I urinate ( which is like 20 times a day) it feels like I'm passing blades and I get a sharp pain in my kidney. There is also blood present that I can see, but not every time I urinate, mostly in the mornings and later in the evenings. I must admit that the pain is getting better everyday.
Avatar n tn The complications include gas bloat syndrome, dysphagia, dumping syndrome , excessive scarring, vagus nerve injury, and sometimes achalasia. It is not known that it can cause kidney stones. The location and shape of the kidney stone is important in determining whether it will be removed on its own or need surgical removal. A kidney stone can cause repeated infections so you will need to see your doctor to check your urine for infections and be treated with antibiotics.
Avatar f tn Hi, this is something that is so weird but I have to see if anyone has had this happen to them/ My Nephew had a kidney stone removed where they stick a needle thru the back to the kidney. After he went home the next day he felt his back was wet and went back to see a nurse at the hospital. She said it was urine coming out of the hole in his back. He went back into day surgery and they said he had a slight blockage so they put a stent in and he came back home, this was this morning.
5650943 tn?1374116408 I had kidney stones with my first, I was literally peeing blood. It was extremely painful and took forever to break apart cause I couldn't take any meds being allergic to most.

Avatar f tn Yesterday I went into the ER, l was having horrible pain on my right side right under my rib. They did a cat scan and xray and told me that I have tw kidney stones one in each kidney. I still have no pain on my right side and am wondering if I ever will or if it will just disappear? Secondly the pain on my left side got worse over night, it has moved down a little and wrapped around to my back. The pain is bearable and then out of nowhere unbearable and worse in my back.

Avatar n tn I have had numerous kidney infections and stones over the past few years. I had a stent recently put in because of a narrowing at the UPJ. I am having alot of pain from the stent. My Uro. said before he put the stent in that I would be able to resume a normal life while the stent is in place. I have frequency, I have to go about 30 times in a 24 hr. period and I am taking ditropan xl 5mg. I am also on pryidium plus 2x's a day.
Avatar f tn I am having a lithroscopy to break up kidney stones a stent may have to be put in place in order that the stones can pass. I have read and heard how uncomfortable this can be and are there other options to having a stent put in place.
Avatar f tn It's been three weeks since my diagnosis of having multiple kidney stones on the right side. The Radiologist who gave me my stat results said I would pass them and didnt think straining my urine was something I needed to do. I finally got in to see my urologist he was upset I wasn't straining and wanted me to have surgery since I will be undergoing IVF treatments in March. I agreed because I don't want to deal with flare up while pregnant.
Avatar n tn Since having kidney stones currently and knowing what they feel like not being pregnant, I can safely say that I have had stones at least 3 other times between the ages of 17 and 27 (pain at that time was diagnosed as most likely a cyst -- when pain was severe - shortly thereafter went away - they said cyst burst - i am confident that the pain was kidney stones). With that being said, I'm tired of getting the kidney stones (as well as the tiredness, soreness and moodiness).

Kidney stones are more likely to occur if you make less than 1 liter of urine a day. That's slightly more than a quart. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001493/ I have had chronic kidney stones since my early 20's so I am familiar with the pain involved, not very pleasent.
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully. Please keep in touch. From what I've read stones <5.0mm usually move out on their own with a high % of non-complications, etc.
Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
Avatar m tn Please at all costs try to avoid the laser as this will leave much dust and fragments that will than make even more stones. The 5mm can def. be removed the problem is the 7mm. It may be able to drop into the top of the ureter and the can take it out from there. Let me know the location on that 1. PLEASE BEWARE OF THE LITHOTRIPOSY THIS IS THE WOST METHOD BUT SOMETIMES THE ONLY METHOD FOR CERTAIN SONES. You must be in pain with the 5mm??? DRINK DRINK DRINK all the water you can.
Avatar n tn He has had stones removed 4 times and is in the hospital, again.with another infection. This one involves pus in the kidney and surrounding sack. His right kidney, where all of the stones have been, is down to less than 25% output and may have to be removed. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this and what the outcome might be?
Avatar m tn I just want to add that I previously had 4 similar operations in all of which the stones were removed.
