1832268 tn?1326819610 My Yorkie was diagnosed with kidney failure in September 2014. She was in the hospital for 10 days (over $6,000) where they ran tests and found out that she developed kidney failure from eating chicken jerky treats. It is called Fanconi syndrome and the FDA has been investigating the deaths and illness of several dogs due to eating chicken jerky treats. I purchased Dingo Market Cuts from Walmart and both my dogs got sick throwing up and with diarrhea.
20820864 tn?1522934753 Fred is our 6 year old Maltese, diagnosed with kidney disease about 5 months ago. He went blind at age 4 due to SARDS, diagnosed with Cushing's disease at age 5 and now kidney disease and a heart murmur. He's had 2 hospital stays due to dehydration and we now give him SubQ fluids every day. He has gotten a lot pickier about what he'll eat and now he will only eat certain dog treats.
Avatar f tn Reading my journals for the last six weeks-will provide some of the highlights when I can, but now I just can't. Hopefully, this will help somone else recognize the symptoms of kidney failure in their babies. I cannot express to all of you how much your comments mean to us right now. Not sure we could make it without you. It is so hard.
Avatar f tn I had taken my dog to his old vet because he wasn't acting normal (sad and lethargic) and she told me that Rocky a Maltese who is 10 years old had a stone in his bladder after a series of tests and us insisting that something was wrong (which she didn't believe). She had us bringing him back and forth and giving us all kinds of medicine and special food to try and dissolve them. Every time we took our dog to her she would either lose the paperwork, think he was a she..it was just a mess.
5794635 tn?1374415655 Hello, My 9 yr old Maltese recently had surgery for bladder stones, an enlarged uterus and a tumor on one of her mammary glands. She did very well. That was about 2 months ago. I took her to have her groomed 2 weeks ago and about a week ago I began to notice these dry looking patching sores all over her back, neck and head. She has also been put on a new food from the vet Prescription diet u/d. Any thoughts on what this might be?
670955 tn?1226601500 I just had this same experience with my little 10 yr old Maltese. Started with a cough in the middle of the night. Went to vet first thing in the morning. Did xrays but nothing showed up. A few hours later her breathing got worse so I took her back. Within hours of showing any signs she had to immediately be put down due to her lungs and chest filling up with blood from her heart. I had no idea that I wouldnt bring her home from the vet.
203342 tn?1328740807 My worry now is that for the last 3 weeks or so she is not eating much or drinking much and she has been throwing up nearly every day.I have to have her on special prescription dog food due to kidney stones so don't have a lot of options. I talked to the vet and got the same prescription dog food only in canned. The first couple of days she ate this good and did not throw up as long as I kept the portions down to a couple of tablespoons. Now the last 2 days she is not even eating this.
Avatar n tn My 10yr old was having similar problems sleeping at night, turns out it was early signs of stones developing in bladder and then required a cystotomy, so it wouldn't hurt to have pet checked out by vet

Avatar m tn I have no diseases, do not use drugs, but drink on occasion. Anyways, just started noticing these strange symptoms, within the past few weeks. Nothing "brought it on" so to speak that I can tell of. It's been going on longer, but less noticeable, now since I do not talk sleeping meds any more, it's all that I can notice... Symptoms are strange sensations on my skin. The sensation is it feels like there are "invisible bugs" crawling on, and/or biting my skin.
