Avatar f tn I have primary hyperoxaluria type one my liver does not produce and enzyme that take the oxalates out of my body, causing many stones and kidney failure, if your having cronic stones get checked for it, a nephrologist is who u need to see, urologist only treat the the stones effects on you. Not what causes them, I will one day soon need a liver and kidney transplant they will not do only a kidney because it will be destroyed by my liver.
Avatar m tn It can also be due to other things like cystitis, and kidney stone or polyp in the bladder. You would feel the kidney stone but maybe it is a precursor to it coming through. So there are lots of reasons for blood in the urine. Do you actually see the blood in the urine or did the urinalysis show a few red blood cells. If a few red blood cells that isn't anything to worry about. If a large amount seen on the urinalysis, then it could be a problem.
Avatar n tn My daughter went to an Urgent Care Clinic two weeks ago in extreme pain and was diagnosed with a kidney infection. She took Cipro and Lortab. Improved for a few days, then began to experience extreme pain again, although in a different area (right side to front under edge of bottom rib), culminating in a rush back to the Urgent Care Center. She couldn't straighten up. It hurt to breathe, walk or lay down.
Avatar n tn Last year EWSL was attempted 3X to remove small, stubborn stones in my right kidney. Stones were not blocking the ureter but were causing pain for months. After 3rd attempt at EWSL it was decided to try laser treatment cystoscopically. This was "partially" successful. Some of the stones were removed, some he was not able to reach. I was left with a stint which came out before I made it home from the hospital.
Avatar n tn Other causes include bladder stones, ureteral stones, and interstitial cystitis Bladder stones are uncommon in women particularly young women with sterile urine. They can cause slowing of the urine stream and forcing to urinate. Though rare, a urachal cyst might be a consideration. Ureteral stones can cause urgency and frequency with small volumes and yet the urinalysis is clear. You might also consider a problem outside of the urinary tract, such as spastic bowel or diverticulitis.
192055 tn?1263559137 Hi there, I have had about 12 kidney stones and even when my stones are in my kidney I am having flank pain. My doctors tell me that i should not be having pain when the stones are still in the kidney. I also have blood in my urine and have had two clear CTs ... I saw a nephrologist today and he is wanting to do a 24 hour urine sample to figure out why i have blood in my urine. I will keep you posted on what happens with me..
Avatar m tn and not actually resolving the real problem, so i started my research into why the stomach produces so much acid or what causes GERD, then everything started to fall into place and all my problems were explained from beginning to end. This is a story about misdiagnosis and symptoms spiralling out of control due to medication side effects, to all you who are "well read" this will all make so much sense.
Avatar n tn Recently I've been wondering if there is some occassional liver swelling that causes problems in that area. I've had a few enzyme tests and they have been normal. I wonder if gallbladder can "hide" from tests at times. Is this too low for gallbladder? If it was gallbladder would meds cause pain? Any possibilities outside of gallbladder or liver? Why would a med cause pain? After 2 yrs could pain ever = emergency?
1522652 tn?1291241954 I know that there is a link beginning with my chronic uti's as a child, to my severe pms as an adolecent into adulthood, and then on to my chronic kidney stones and infections as an adult, and then the loss of my kidney, as well as the problems I'm experiencing now. My question is what specific tests do I need to request to accurately check my thyroid, parathyroid, and my calcium levels? Also, are there any specific questions that I need to ask.
Avatar f tn My daughter is a cosmetologist and she told me the topo causes the hair follicles to close. What has fallen out, wont grow back, but the hair loss should stop when you discontinue the drug. The Topo really messed up my cycle too. I think my adrenals took a hard hit from just two weeks on the drug. For me it was not worth it. I was stupid, depressed and started having panic attacks on it. I would loose blocks of time. Huge blocks.

1832268 tn?1326819610 It's about management -not cure. The ideal is to plateau out at the level of kidney function the dog has when first diagnosed. So of course, this is going to vary from dog to dog, and depending on what stage the disease is at when it is first discovered. It depends on how instructions are followed re. diet....it depends on the dog's general fitness. I have such a lot to learn myself about this. And my answer is probably not what you are looking for at all for your survey.
383138 tn?1314171373 goes, chills/sweats and I keep loosing weight (went from my normal 155 down to 130 in last 6 months). CT without contrast did not show any kidney stones, it only showed pelvic phleboliths (calcium like stones in my pelvic veins which dr. didn't seem concerned about those). I am supposed to see urologist for cytoscope, but cant get in for 3 weeks. I am wondering if endo could be causing all the kidney, bladder pressure, pain, left side pain, increasing sickness, weight loss, etc.
1963554 tn?1325451090 He said that his right kidney is destroyed and that his left kidney has about 25% left. He has a tumor within his bladder and his urine cannot pass thru which goes into his kidney and damages it. When we had Shaggy checked out in May our vet said that it's UTI...because I mentioned to him that he'd pee and then go to other spots and nothing comes out. So he was given anti-biotics. This went on for several months.
1916673 tn?1420236870 Higher than normal potassium is not very unusual in kidney disease, but it is important to discount other potential causes - including kidney or urinary tract stones. An ultra-sound and white blood cell (WBC) count will help identify if stones are a problem. Phosphorus is also too high. Dogs acquire phosphorus directly from food, and normally (in healthy dogs) any excess is excreted through the kidneys.
2361255 tn?1339611918 Sadly, as you probably know, there is (currently) no cure for kidney disease ... but we can help our best friends become more comfortable in their last months, weeks and days. Try not to think about losing her just now, just enjoy each day as it comes. There is always heartache when we lose a dog from our lives, and sometimes the grieving is harder and more difficult than when we lose a human from our lives.
Avatar f tn There are treatments which will help you to manage your kidney stones but there is no cure for kidney stones. I myself have had kidney stones for the last 12 years and have had about 15 large stones and 2 operations to remove stones that were to large to pass. Kidney stones are painful but is not something that is life threatening such as advanced HCV and liver failure or many other diseases. In the big picture it is something that can be managed and you can live a normal life.
Avatar f tn I know I've flushed out kidney stones. I've figured out that the cause of my kidney stones is high fructose corn syrup in some of my favorite foods like fig bars which I've given up. I would not be surprised if that had something to do with my gall stones.
Avatar m tn Suitable food intake and fluids are absolutely essential, and from what I've read, you are doing everything in the right way, so well done. Kidney failure causes toxins to build up in the body, so the dog usually refuses to eat or drink simply because it feels nauseous. Anti-nausia meds can be helpful, so do ask your vet about this. As for when is the time right, no one can say. All dogs are different.
Avatar f tn They cystectomy showed blood squirting out of my left kidney. Stones and infection have been ruled out. On New Years Eve I am going in for the camera in my kidney. 4 days ago at my husbands Christmas party I had 2 beers. Since then I have not noticed blood in my urine. Could it be microscopic now? Or could my left kidney be blocked preventing the blood from coming out? I do have mild kidey pain which I did not have before. Should I still go in for the procedure as planed on NewYears Eve?
Avatar f tn This disorder is typified by the deposition of a protein in the vital kidney structures. This causes localized damage to microscopic kidney structures and can manifest as painless hematuria that is off and on. this condition can also manifest in other systems and can cause sleep disorders. IgA nephropathy is confirmed after examination of kidney tissue obtained via a renal biopsy. This condition has no effective cure and is managed with steroids and control of blood pressure and cholesterol.
1502704 tn?1289424641 The common causes of pain in scrotum are epidydomo orchitis, inguinal hernia; kidney stones etc.Serious causes of testicular pain are torsion which needs urgent medical attention. Excessive sweating can lead to irritation and yeast infections. For the irritation, a weak hydrocortisone may help (1% is over-the-counter.) and for the sweating, a powder like ZeaSorb may help. I suggest that you should take another visit to a dermatologist for consideration of these and other measures.
Avatar n tn Never heard of that. Small stones in the bladder of passing a kidney stone, a bad infection I think, interstitial cystitis and I think cancer as well can cause blood in your urine. Drinking more water may help, not cure, with an infection and might dilute the urine more, making it more obscure to your eyes, but please, please, don't just try to treat such a serious thing at home without seeing a doctor about it!
Avatar f tn Hello, Recurrent urine infections could be due to various reasons. Most common cause is stones in kidney which is blocking urine pathway. Other causes are changing sexual partners frequently, pregnancy, diabetes and of course childhood infections. The urine can also be due to retention of urine anywhere in its flow due t obstruction. The obstruction can be due to abnormality of structures since birth, stones. So you should get a ultrasound, CT scan done and also some urine and blood tests.
Avatar m tn Your urologist will run a couple of tests including urine examination, a CT/ultrasound of abdomen to rule out stones and other causes. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Hello, Cause of pelvic cramping could be due to kidney stones, pelvic infections, urine infections, twisted ovarian cyst or rupture of ovarian cyst, appendicitis or any other referred pain due to other organ infections. Get evaluated for all these causes to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar m tn Hi, Unexplained blood and protein loss in urine can be due to certain immune system disorders, if the blood and protein are not accompanied by other factors such as kidney stones, infection, pain, etc. One of these disorders, IgA nephropathy is characterized by painless hematuria (blood in urine) that presents during episodes of upper respiratory (colds) or gastrointestinal infection. This disorder is typified by the deposition of a protein in the vital kidney structures.
Avatar m tn Ask the doctor to refer you for an ultrasound on your urinary tract t make sure you have no kidney stones. Kidney stones can be as small as a grain of sand, but can still cause problems, especially when they start to move. Sometimes you may notice a sediment at the bottom of a urine sample. Make sure that you drink plenty of fluids (not alcohol) so that you do not become dehydrated. Make an appointment to see your doctor.

Avatar n tn My uric acid tested high, I have periodic kidney stones and can have high cholesterol depending on diet. To the touch there does not appear to be any lumps in the area where curvature begins. Are there other possibilities?
