Avatar n tn May I suggest you do some research on the Ketogenic Diet. It is a huge lifestyle change, but is totally worth it. Ketogenic lifestyle requires that you cut out almost all carbs. You eat less than 20g of carbs a day, moderate amount of protein 50-100g/day (60-75 is ideal for most people), and 100-150g fat/day. It is a high fat diet that switches your body from using carbs for energy to using fat for energy.

Tbd If you do look into ketogenic diet, do not use it as an excuse to eat too much fat; if you want to lose weight fat has to be limited to fats that come naturally with the foods that you eat, rather than lots of extra fats being added. There are now many cases where this has happened (you can look up Virta Health a company that tries to guide patients to do this), and there are also many online supportive communities.
Tbd For me, considering that diabetes is an inability of the body to properly process glucose I choose low carb / ketogenic diet. This diet is fairly easy to follow. No grains, no sugars, no starchy vegetables. There are some people for whom the low fat / high carb works. You would need to find out which suits you best and which one you can manage sustainably.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 11 years old. I've never been good at remembering to take my meds. I was prescribed Metformin 50mg to start. Now as an 11-year-old child I expected to feel better instantly. I was angry when that didn't happen and I saw no immediate results. I stopped taking the medication out of sheer anger.

Avatar n tn Fasting is not for weight loss. It's for a lot of things, mostly spiritual or for cleaning out the system once in awhile, but is not a good way for lasting weight loss. A "diet" is by definition not a way to lose weight permanently. A permanent change in diet is. I have nothing against fasting, just using it for weight loss.
Tbd I agree with Sally. Get a meter & check your sugar. Change your diet based on your numbers. Ditch the sugar & detox from sugar it is like a drug. When you detox from sugar you reduce the taste for it but don't return to your bad habits. Get your numbers down, your BMI down (reduce your waist size), lose weight & let dome form of exercise be your norm. If it turns to a diabetic # you will have issues like SF low healing wounds & bruises that take a long time to heal.

Tbd Some people, including me find that a ketogenic diet (focusing on very low carb, moderate protein, and unprocessed natural fats) is helpful for blood sugar. Aside from exercise, which you are already doing, weight loss, if you are overweight can help in lowering blood sugars. I wouldn't try making a "keto cookie" with coconut flour, but just keep to your diet and give yourself a reward on the weekends. I found some great treats at Trader Joes and Sprouts that are within the diets guidelines that are great for everyday (dark chocolates, protein bread that has almost no carbs, keto friendly pizza!).

Have you tried the intermittent fasting where you stop eating at say 7 pm and don't eat again until 7 am? I see you eat low carb and no sugar now. What do you eat then?
