1498386 tn?1403027653 I took Mega T, weight loss supplements, cleansing stuff, even drink shakeology with a strict diet, did the 17 day diet for 2 months...wear sweat inducing rubber pants to sweat more...nothing is working. I am not on any medications. I was prediabetic after third pregnancy. But my A1c levels are just fine now. So my blood glucose is fine, I check it all the time at home as I am paranoid that my glucose levels my go out of whack but it hasn't, my BP is fine, my hormone levels are fine.

Avatar f tn Hi all, I am severely depressed & have been taking Prozac for a month now & my doc suggested Abilify to add. I had already put on 30lbs from lexapro, which is part of becoming depressed again. I have been on the Abilify for 6days now & can tell it is having a positive impact on me. I have had enough motivation to work out the past two days & I am really watching what I'm eating. Has anyone here had success with losing weight on Abilify & prozac?
Avatar f tn Nathan was started on a diet for Seizure control...Ketogenic Diet. He had his last grand mal seizure the 3 day on the diet. His muscle and drop seizures ended 2 months later completely, but we noticed they were less harsh with each one he had til they just stopped." - excerpt from KetoGenic Diet for Seizures.
Skulleton If you were my patient, I would advise you to check into a few different weight loss plans--that way when you get bored with one, you can move to another. Believe it or not, Weight Watchers is one of the absolute best success stories around--probably because it is more than a diet--it teaches you to change your bad eating habits. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn I have just read a book on fasting and using a ketogenic diet for weight loss and diabetes reversal. I am trying it now and am finding it very easy to implement. There are various fasts you can do. I am sure you can find one or two ways to work for you. You should get this book! I have tried all of the diets in my 63 yrs of life and none have given lasting results. I feel like this way is going to be much easier to do than those I have tried in the past.

Avatar n tn May I suggest you do some research on the Ketogenic Diet. It is a huge lifestyle change, but is totally worth it. Ketogenic lifestyle requires that you cut out almost all carbs. You eat less than 20g of carbs a day, moderate amount of protein 50-100g/day (60-75 is ideal for most people), and 100-150g fat/day. It is a high fat diet that switches your body from using carbs for energy to using fat for energy.
Tbd Some people, including me find that a ketogenic diet (focusing on very low carb, moderate protein, and unprocessed natural fats) is helpful for blood sugar. Aside from exercise, which you are already doing, weight loss, if you are overweight can help in lowering blood sugars. Other than this, you may wish to consult with your dr in case any change in medications can also assist your progress. Hope this helps.

Avatar m tn just checked what a ketogenic diet is, this type of diet is extremely unhealthy and damages livers of any person hbver or not The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet: high fat damages the liver adequate-protein is ok but from vegetable or little white meat, no red meat, no diaries low-carbohydrate leads nowhere, it is processed and refined carbohydrates to increase blood glucose which makes damage, so the problems is refined cereals not not carbohydrates the a
Avatar n tn I haven't had a TT, but I do have Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism, which causes considerable issues with my weight. I, personally, think the HCG diet is too drastic and not healthy, plus some studies have shown that the HCG really does nothing to help you lose weight; it's the drastic reduction in calories (starvation) that does it. One of the biggest issues with diets of this kind is that people rarely keep the weight off once they go off the diet.
Avatar f tn What I found as the most effective way to do this is via a ketogenic diet. There is a great book called the Art and Science of Nutritional Ketosis, by Dr Phinney and Dr Volek. There are a lot of free youtube videos by both doctors Phinney and Volek who describe how to lose fat, while protecting and building physical and athletic strength. Really good stuff. So, through proper nutrition, you can lose the fat and maintain/build muscle. Hope this helps. Good luck!!
1549189 tn?1293935668 ve tried, but if you google acai berry diet it has had some pretty decent success. or you could always try the old school method of burn more calories than you consume.
Avatar f tn 2 in the Annals of Internal Medicine shows the low carb high fat diet excels for weight loss and heart health. The low fat diet saw more lean muscle lost than body fat. Good tip: avoid low fat everything. :) "People who avoid carbohydrates and eat more fat, even saturated fat, lose more body fat and have fewer cardiovascular risks than people who follow the low-fat diet that health authorities have favored for decades, a major new study shows.
Avatar f tn Also covered are discussions relating to specific diet plans like the South Beach Diet, Atkins Diet, Slim-Fast, Weight Watchers, Counting Calories, Fat Flush, Body for Life and others." "Fat Flush" is a detox diet, much like a fasting regime. "Slim-Fast" is not a natural product. I am getting confused by the terse dismissals being offered to people who have come here for support.
