Avatar n tn I have just read a book on fasting and using a ketogenic diet for weight loss and diabetes reversal. I am trying it now and am finding it very easy to implement. There are various fasts you can do. I am sure you can find one or two ways to work for you. You should get this book! I have tried all of the diets in my 63 yrs of life and none have given lasting results. I feel like this way is going to be much easier to do than those I have tried in the past.

Avatar n tn May I suggest you do some research on the Ketogenic Diet. It is a huge lifestyle change, but is totally worth it. Ketogenic lifestyle requires that you cut out almost all carbs. You eat less than 20g of carbs a day, moderate amount of protein 50-100g/day (60-75 is ideal for most people), and 100-150g fat/day. It is a high fat diet that switches your body from using carbs for energy to using fat for energy.
Avatar m tn Irrespective, assuming type 2 diabetes, the treatment will be losing weight if overweight, cutting carbs (particularly sugar, grains, starches - look into low carb / ketogenic diet), exercise, and medications if the previous lifestyle approaches are not sufficient. You can do this.
Tbd Some people, including me find that a ketogenic diet (focusing on very low carb, moderate protein, and unprocessed natural fats) is helpful for blood sugar. Aside from exercise, which you are already doing, weight loss, if you are overweight can help in lowering blood sugars. Other than this, you may wish to consult with your dr in case any change in medications can also assist your progress. Hope this helps.

Avatar f tn What I found as the most effective way to do this is via a ketogenic diet. There is a great book called the Art and Science of Nutritional Ketosis, by Dr Phinney and Dr Volek. There are a lot of free youtube videos by both doctors Phinney and Volek who describe how to lose fat, while protecting and building physical and athletic strength. Really good stuff. So, through proper nutrition, you can lose the fat and maintain/build muscle. Hope this helps. Good luck!!

I’m worried this weight is going to stick around and I’m very concerned. Help! Ps. Sorry if this is TMI, but I haven’t really pooped much this week. I assumed it was because I haven’t really been eating, but could it be a contributing factor?

This diet also includes abundant non-starchy, non-sweet vegetables and plant foods. 2. Very low fat, adequate protein, high carb. This is the plant based and even vegan diet that some are promoting. Avatar n tn I personally eat a Ketogenic diet of 20g or less net carbs a day. Most of my diet comes from meat, cheese and non-starchy vegetables. The high levels of fat in my diet help keep me satiated and promotes weight loss. I also tend to avoid artificial sweeteners as much as possible. I eat gluten free and grain free.

The diet resulted in rapid weight loss, and the prescribed medication made it easier for me to follow the diet. I did have to follow up often with my physician, but the results are worth it!
Avatar f tn Just cutting the soda out of your diet you will see some resold but it will take longer. If you want best results watch what you eat. Find low cal food. Diet soda will not work. You also want to include resistance training as well. For me I do cardio, resistance training and diet. I have been loosing 1-3 lbs per week.
