Before I answer you question, I need to clarify something. You wrote that you have been on Karvia for 10months and never took the placebo pills and thus never had a real period except for occasional spotting. May I ask why you did this and did your gynecologist know that you were doing this? The reason why I am concerned is that when you don't have a period at least every 4 months you put yourself at a higher risk for uterine or endometrial cancer.
Last Wednesday I got my period, and I began taking Kariva Birth Control. On friday, My boyfriend and I decided to have sex, which was dumb, but we used a condom with spermicide on it and in it. After a little bit, the condom popped and he pulled out immediately without ejaculating at all. Then we were finished.
I know that people say that girls can get pregnant on their periods, however, i was only on the 3rd day of my cycle and i highly doubt that i could have ovulated so early...

It is recommended that someone starting on the "birth control pill" waits 2 full menstrual cycles before relying solely on it for birth control. Condoms are encouraged until completion of the second cycle. And remember that the "pill" isn't 100% effective, only 98% and doesn't provide any protection against STD's. Also when taking any antibiotics with the pill, it lowers the effectiveness and so does having diarrhea or vomiting as it is not absorbed in the system.
antibiotics can reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills. You should use a back up method of protection such as condoms while you are taking the antibiotics. Other than that there aren't any interactions between the two.

Have you ever been late for your period before? Most women get their period during the placebo week. Are you taking the 21 or 28 day pack?
I usually start the exact same day, on a Wednesday, during the placebo week but I have had my period start a day before or a day late. When I was a teenager, my period was always on a Sunday.
Hi, I was wondering if I can store my birth control pills in a pill finder (I have many other pills to take and doing it this way makes it much easier to keep track of what pills I've taken and when). I was recently told that removing the birth control from its bubble package with decrease the effectiveness, so it's really important that I know whether or not this is true. I have a pituitary adenoma and the pills are necessary to keep my periods regulated.

My girlfriend has been on birth control for about a month now. We had sex on 11-17-12 and She was expecting her period to be on 11-20-12! She says she feels the usual symptoms as if she would be starting her period but yet it hasn't started yet. Could this be the birth control altering her cycle? Or does this mean she's pregnant? Okay I am wanting to start birth control not for the usual reason. I want to start it to lighten my periods and help my acne clear up. I've already talked to my mom about it and she supports me on it. I just don't know exactly which pill to look into. Anybody have suggestions? I'll of course do more research but I need some ideas. I am on Kariva birth control. I missed 2 or 3 pills the week that i had sex. We used protection everytime except penetration once for like 30 but he did not ejaculate. I took plan b (the one pill version) between th 48 and 72 hour mark. It has been 2 weeks since and my period has been a couple days late and very very light (dark brown). I know that the plan b causes disruptions in menstrating and so does missing pills but id like to lnow if im just overly paranoid.
I have some info on my profile about breastfeeding as a form of birth control. It's in my 'journals'. My midwife told me that estrogen free birth control is the safest while nursing. Estrogen can dry up your milk and if it doesn't, might cause issues with baby. Estrogen free versions include the paragaurd iud, the depo shot, and the 'mini pill' (progesterone only daily pill). I'd definitely decide what you want to do before baby comes!
