Avatar f tn The lasers are also sterile, which minimizes the risk of developing an infection and will also reduce the total recovery time. Lasers also provide a pain-free way of providing treatment and can fully eliminate the need for anesthesia. Lasers can be used to treat various dental concerns, including gum disease treatment and lesions removal.
Avatar f tn The dentistry of teeth and jaw and treatment regarding that refers to orthodontic dentistry. One can correct that malpositioned teeth and jaw as well as prevent its causes. But affordable treatments should be give preference and one can get a wonderful smile through it.
Avatar n tn ) does anyone know anything about neuromuscular dentistry and if this will help his tinnitus????????? How does this kind of treatment compare to others? Is it worth it? Please help.
Avatar f tn It seems that while TMD is in the jaw it should be something that regular Dr's train to take care of. I was diagnosed with TMD almost 2 decades ago, and since I was 18 I have been to the dentist once (I am 45 now) I hate them, don't take this personally but so much pain going tot hem and I have a real fear about going back. I've always taken good care of my teeth, only 2 cavities.
Avatar m tn Other than thermal sensitivity, occlusal interference may induce a variety of other symptoms, such as, hurt when chewing, gum pain or discomfort, jaw bone aching, sensitivity to touch, masticatory muscle pain which may manifest as headache, tmj tightness or pain, and stuffy ear or pressure. Going back to your restorative dentist to have more meticulous occlusal adjustment is advised.
490746 tn?1233253208 Im also on the thyroid forum and at the time prior thinking my horrible ear pain may have been coming from the nodules..but now the pain is not only in my ears but my neck, jaw you name it! Some days are worse than others. I have tried heating pads and following some of the recommended ideas...helping very little. Thank you for any advice.
Avatar n tn I have extreme headaches on the left side of my head along with extreme discomfort and pain in the skull, jaw, neck, shoulders. The left side of my shoulder, neck, face, and even cranium is swollen and has been getting more and more swollen over the years. I do not know if it's a domino effect from the bottom (feet, lower back, or shoulder) to the top (jaw and skull) or from the top to the bottom, or a bunch of separate problems.

Avatar f tn Okay, so my cat has been having eating problems for about 2 and a half weeks now. He has gone from weighing 24 pounds to 10 pounds! He went to the vet when it first began, and all they noticed that was wrong with him was that he needed his teeth to be cleaned. He had to take antibiotics for it, but he's taken them before. There seems to be a strange noise coming from his mouth when he tries to eat, almost like his jaw is clicking or he's grinding his teeth. Could his jaw be out of place?
Avatar n tn I always thought there could be a link, especially as I continue to have jaw and head pain at the same part of my head as the epilepsy. Does anyone know if there could be a link?
Avatar n tn thanks for the advise. I am to the point where I am trying anything. I am working on my 4th week off work. I am starting PT for the neck & shoulder pain. He seems to think the muscle spasms are the main cause of the pain but you know he is going to say whatever it takes to get me to try it. Of course insurance will not cover anything relating to TMJ but surgery so that is one of my biggest problems. What can you do for disc displacements?
Avatar f tn Does anyone out there have neuralgia pain along with their TMJ or TMD pain??? I've been tested for trigeminal neuralgia several times and they are telling me I don't have it, or facial neuralgia, yet it fits the description according to the pain I am having. My pain is extreme, and I am taking various meds that are making me sick... Wondering if anyone else is in this position.. seekandfind46..
748543 tn?1463446075 For the past few weeks I have been throwing around ideas as to the best way to respond to this matter. You see a recent article ( Feb.3 , 2009 NY times) titled "Best treatment for TMJ May be Nothing" nearly made me clench my jaw to pieces. While well written, I found that the author, Ms. Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists.
Avatar f tn i have an implant and it was very sucessful. i was a bit scared when i had a nerve pain shooting from my jaw for a bit of time but that went away thankfully There are a lot of nerves there so get a realllllly good surgeon to do it. you might want to ask about bone density issues if you have osteoporosis since they are putting a post in the bone.
Avatar m tn I have been seeing Dr after Dr for migraines, tinnitus, facial pain, neck, shoulder, upper and lower back pain. All of which I discovered can be associated with tmj. I asked my Dr to put me on a short course of steroids for the inflammation and I do see an improvement. I refuse to go to the dentist until I can get this under control and then only in an emergency. I practice good dental health at home. I also suffer from internal tremors but doubt that this is a symptom of tmj.
Avatar f tn I have had extensive (and I must say painful) ozone treatment in my head, sinuses and jaw that did not seem to help. I have all kinds of head and ear symptoms. Now my sinuses seem to be involved. I know I need to get my mercury fillings replaced, and I have started the process, but I have a long way to go. I take chlorella and have recently started something called 'Metal Sweep' by Dr. K., which I think is helping to get rid of some of the toxins in my body.
Avatar n tn Since I had so much work done and my gums were sore, my dentist advised that I wait to see if this is causing the sensitivity. Since then I have both pain and sensitivity and the pain is getting worse. I take aspirin about three times a day and usually the pain starts a few hours after eating and now in the middle of the night. It's a dull ache that seems to be more in my jaw than tooth, but the sensitivity to hot/cold is definitely in the tooth.
691614 tn?1227464651 I encourage you to at least see a dentist to get a proper check up to see what exactly is going on. No treatment may be needed that day. He/she may prescribe antibiotics and pain medication initially. Your doctor may provide some laughing gas or prescription medications to help relax you prior to treatment. There are also dentists who actually put people to sleep and perform dentistry that way. But the most important thing is to get it checked out as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn I had a crown, so the root canal was done through the crown. I had it done 2 weeks ago. I was still having pain, and when I went back for the hole to be filled, the dentist decided to remove more of the nerve. I am still in terrible pain. When I eat hot or cold foods or drink hot or cold liquids I am in agony on the whole right side of my face. The whole side of my mouth lower and upper teeth are throbing. I have pain up into my ear.

4494800 tn?1355440491 ear pain, temple pain, and bottom of jaw pain), the clicking in the back of your head would not fit. Clicking in the jaw joint, however would match up with a TMJ issue. So, you are likely describing two different things- one has to do with your TMJ, but the clicking in the back of your head (if not being misperceived as coming from that location) may have a different source- have you tried neck exercises where you hear this clicking? (I noticed you mentioned shaking your head)?
Avatar f tn The sensitivity recently got so bad and painful that my whole jaw was hurting on that side, and I had my first root canal even though I am only in my twenties. This took care of the pain, but caused me to have to chew only on the left side for a while before and after the root canal. Now, as a result, I am starting to feel discomfort on the bottom left side, probably from the added stress of only chewing on that side.
Avatar f tn If you want you could go to the drug store and try the over the counter mough guards they have, but they are not custom fit, so you may spit it out while you sleep. The pain is on the top part of your jaw bone because that is where your jaw joint is connected to your skull. Often the pain is muscle related and/or can be because of worn cartilage. Sometimes it can be related to a congenital defect. I hope this helps!
Avatar n tn If I do proceed with his treatment plan, I still do not have any way to get local treatment for major issues except for the hospital OR. Oral surgeons here do not do normal dentistry. If I proceed, I will have repaired my teeth, but have no way to maintain them. My brother had implants put in several years ago and swears by them. My dentist says I'm not a candidate for implants because my gums and jawbone are in great shape, he is not supportive of the idea of implants.
