Jaw pain from stress

Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain from stress

jaw-pain

Avatar m tn RA can affect your jaw, but if it's ONLY your jaw, I wouldn't jump to conclusions. In general, RA manifests with fever, overall body aches/fatigue, and swelling/redness/pain in more than one joint. Typically, to my knowledge, it rarely starts in the jaw. It'll be your knees, feet, or hands/wrists first. Jaw tightness and pain could simple be stress from worrying about the incident.
Avatar n tn Over the course of a few weeks the pain started to subside and my jaw began to relax... Heat packs on my jaw to soothe the pain... He also suggested certain exercises to strengthen my neck and back muscles because they were weak from all the tension... I also did acupuncture... It also helped to calm and relax my muscles... Good luck!

Avatar f tn I have had a consistant sore throat, bit of ear pain, swollen glands and jaw ache, plus sharp pain in jaw when trying to eat, for over a month now. Dr gave me antibiotics but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this please?
Avatar n tn t have any contraindications to taking Ibuprofen (eg. Motrin, Advil), I would recommend getting from from the drugstore and trying that to help with the pain until you can get in to see your dentist. TMJ disorders don't normally cause swelling that I have seen. Swollen glands and swelling generally indicate an infection, possibly from a dental abscess, impacted wisdom tooth, acute periodontal infection, etc.. It's best to have it checked out ASAP. 1232362 tn?1333135406 The pain can be relieved with pain medication or lyrica which is indicated for neuropathic pain as in your case. If your pain medication do not work, stronger prescription pain medications may be indicated. In form your doctor about this if it persists. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I have been have episodes of left chest pain and jaw pain for about 2 months. I have had a stress echo which was normal. I had a cardiac ct with calcium scoring in which my calcium score was 0 and my arteries were clear ( they couldn't see my right coronary artery completely but they assured me it wasn't my heart). I have been on Nexium for my stomach and have been referred to a GI doctor but I continue to have this pain and jaw tightness.
Avatar f tn That helped for a short time. There are days that I still wake up with pain radiating from my right jaw all the way up the side of my head. It can last for days. I take naprosen for pain. That usually helps a little but I would like to find a more permanent treatment. I was punched in the face in the jaw area several years ago, this has contributed to the pain.
Avatar n tn I have recently been going through all the same sort of symptoms as you have listed, including the jaw pain. I think it is hormone related as I have heard of other people going through it too. I am currently getting tested and may be referred to an endocrinologist shortly to find out if my symptoms are due to early menopause. So if I find out anymore about it, I will let you know.
Avatar f tn It lasted for a about 2 days in a severe state and has since gone away almost completely. The jaw pain was a completely new symptom for me but from what I hear, you can have symptoms like jaw pain one day and the next its gone. But yes, I definitely have read of many people who have jaw pain w/ Lyme.
Avatar n tn I have frequent jaw pain, jaw numness and jaw that crack when I chew on something at some point. Avatar f tn I am concerned. I have ear pain, and dizziness with some jaw pain and some tingling in my arm and fingers.. This is Making my head feel like it's swimming. I have been to see my Dr. and he has put me on Methylprednisolone tablets. A six day dose. When I first started them the dizziness seem to go away. The pain in my left ear is better than my right one. I feel great when I wake up. I go to the gym and everything is fine but as the morning goes on I begin to get symptoms.
1983417 tn?1326416870 I've suffered from daily horrible intense chronic tension headaches the past 5 months which I believe where due to stress which caused a "flare up" in my tmj so I saw a nuerologist who diagnosed me with chronic tension headaches. The past week I've been taking topamax and an anti-inflamatory which has significantly reduced my pain. However, my head feels sooo weak and weird! I was wondering if this was a normal healing process since I was in pain for so long?
Avatar n tn sound on opening the jaw. This can also be caused by stress, malocclusion and jaw clenching. Continue your medications as prescribed. A headache journal may also help to identify possible triggers. However, if it persists, you could also benefit from further evaluation including imaging studies. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Stress, stress, stress - what a bad thing for us. Relax, its a only a family vacation. I know its full of anxiety but don't it get to you. It a time to enjoy and let go the stress. I could be a migraine or just strain on your upper facial muscles. Pay attention to see if you have your jaws clenched when you feel stressed. This may give you the clue you seek. And don't be afraid to talk to your Physician if it continues. Good luck and enjoy (please) your vacation.
Avatar n tn Hold on, opening that jaw causes the pain in the back of my head to be right next to my right ear.... Could that be TMJD?
Avatar f tn this might sound kinda weird, but if you can, I recommend seeing a dentist. It sounds to me like you might well have TMJ, and the stress that's being put on your jaw and muscles is being transfered to behind your ear.

Even my eye hurt a little. The whole right side of my face basically. Consequently I also woke up with a several cold sores in the corner which hurt worse than any I've had. Yesterday it felt the same but around my cheek and jaw it started feeling warm to touch.
Avatar m tn No I did not. The jaw pain usually occurs just before I get up in the morning and lasts until I get out of bed. After a brief activity or so, it goes away. I walked 6 miles today and did not have any jaw pain of any other symptom. I can't figure out what is happening.
