Avatar n tn I woke up yesterday with horrendous jaw pain (mostly left side). Has anyone experience this? Any suggestions on how to relieve the pain? Or what may be causing it?
Avatar n tn So if I find out anymore about it, I will let you know. Some people also get similar pain in response to stress, so would be worth catching up with your doctor too, to see if they can shed any light on it.

704329 tn?1518523098 Dental abscesses, infection and difficulties with jaw joint can cause local pain and referred pain to head and face. Headaches from dental stress cause a muscle tension headache. A tension headache can give the feeling as if a steel band were wrapped around it. The pain feels like a dull, non-throbbing ache. See a dentist and get evaluated. Hope it helped. Best luck and regards!

I also have canker sores inside my left side of mouth which I think is from biting the inside of my mouth while I sleep. What can I do for the pain. Is this TMJ or just stress? Hello, You might want to see your dentist since any swelling of the jaws and face is not normal. It might be due to a dental abscess. If you don't have any contraindications to taking Ibuprofen (eg.
1305767 tn?1361192676 I went to ER tonight for terrible pain in the right side of my face, jaw and neck. The pain started five days ago and on Tuesday I went to my regular Dr. because I thought maybe I had a sinus infection. The Dr. thought the same and gave me Augmentin (a powerful antibiotic) I started taking it Tuesday night and things only seemed to get worse from there!
Avatar f tn hi there, hope someone can help as i feel like i'm going crazy!!! I'm a 43 yrs old female. Avatar f tn Aside from referred pain, this could be due to neurological or musculoskeletal issues that needs to be evaluated further. Muscle relaxants may help provide relief. With temporomandibular joint pain, this can be due to malocclusion, poor bite, or jaw clenching. Check with your doctor for proper management. Take care and best regards.
Avatar n tn I used to get jaw pain when I was in the armed forces....dx'd back then (in the military) as TMJ and was fitted for a "night guard" and told to stop chewing gum. I don't know if it was related; however, I've heard that it could be. I still have it on and off...depending upon my stress level and the intensity of my daily head pain.
Avatar f tn This can cause pain in whole of head and neck region. Glands in neck and temporal bone pain can be due to this. I would suggest you consult a dentist and an ENT specialist soon. Maybe your PVP can arrange it. If there is no problem in the teeth and ear, then there is a chance that you have compression of cervical spinal nerves due to overuse of computers, work involving straining of neck, canal stenosis, bone disease, spondylosis, poor posture etc.
Avatar f tn I have been have episodes of left chest pain and jaw pain for about 2 months. I have had a stress echo which was normal. I had a cardiac ct with calcium scoring in which my calcium score was 0 and my arteries were clear ( they couldn't see my right coronary artery completely but they assured me it wasn't my heart). I have been on Nexium for my stomach and have been referred to a GI doctor but I continue to have this pain and jaw tightness.
Avatar f tn I used to have throbbing pain just above my ear..temple area due to migranes. I was having migranes due to magnesium deficiency. There are many reasons for low magnesium but usually due to magnesium loss. In my case, due to insulin resistance/sugary diet, stress ( both mental and physical (after surgery). Also, studies showed smokers to have lower magnesium levels than nonsmokers. Try magnesium supplements to see if you notice an improvement.
Avatar n tn I agree with Avisg,it's best to see a doctor.Even if someone else did experience jaw pain due to their w/d,that doesn't necessarily mean thats why you're experiencing it.Congrats on 5 days!!!!!! Thats great!!!!!! All the best...
Avatar m tn Just to add that it's common to have a throat discomfort accompany jaw pain. When I had angina attacks, the lower jaw felt really stiff like it was difficult to move and all along under the lower back teeth ached. This always followed throat discomfort. The only way I can describe the throat discomfort is to ask you to imagine eating a lot of very strong mint sweets. Eating a whole packet very fast and then drinking cold water.
1232362 tn?1333135406 TMJ headaches is a muscle-contraction type of pain and can be an infrequent cause of headache. This could be due to malocclusion/poor bite, stress, and jaw clenching. Relaxation, biofeedback, use of bite plate and in some cases, correction of malocclusion may be done to help provide relief. It is good that you know your triggers for migraine. Avoidance of such triggers and prescription medications may help provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Hello~Having pain in those areas are normally due to stress and tight muscles radiating from your neck. Sometimes the pain can also be caused by a TMJ disorder. The temporomandibular (tem-puh-roe-man-DIB-u-lur) joint (TMJ) acts like a sliding hinge, connecting your jawbone to your skull. You have one joint on each side of your jaw.
Avatar n tn I was driving home last night in crawling traffic and getting tense to say the least. I experienced a moderate to severe pain in my chest that radiated to my jaw. This happened once before, several months ago, and I attributed to taking supplemenst on an empty stomach. My last BP was 130/72, just last week. I have had neck and headaches for about three weeks, thus the muscle relaxers from my MD. Is there any profit in seing a doctor now that the episode has passed..
Avatar n tn Over the course of a few weeks the pain started to subside and my jaw began to relax... Heat packs on my jaw to soothe the pain... He also suggested certain exercises to strengthen my neck and back muscles because they were weak from all the tension... I also did acupuncture... It also helped to calm and relax my muscles... Good luck!
Avatar n tn The root canal was not easy - I felt some of treatment due to inflammation from crack and afterwards I had pain for a few days both in the tooth and jaw. My jaw pain is on left side only - same side as tooth. My crown was placed on tooth with temporary cement and left like that for months - but the off and on discomfort remained.
Avatar m tn I was brought to the emergency room and kept there for 7 hours (EKG still indicated inverted T-wave and sinus-Bradycardia). My jaw is now wired shut. I went to a different Cardiologist (electrical specialist) who suspects I have a lethal heart arrhythmia. He wants to perform an invasive procedure (Electrical Mapping) but wants me to wait 2 months until my jaw is un-wired. My question is: How dangerous is my condition and is waiting 2 months OK?
Avatar m tn the left side of my neck hurts toward the side (main muscle/tendon going down from the jaw to the shoulder, and under my jaw, from what I can tell is inside my jaw. there are ridges on my jaw towards my chin that hurt, and also the space in between my jaw hurts. Don't know if it is glandular or tmj related. odd stuff. Cannot see my doc until next Thursday. anything that I can do?
Avatar m tn Pins and needle sensations are common with anxiety and your neck and jaw pain are quite possibly from clenching your teeth due to stress. But again, only your doctor can give you a dx. You are young and I'm sure it's nothing more than some stress, but it's far better to be safe than sorry.
Avatar f tn I have had a consistant sore throat, bit of ear pain, swollen glands and jaw ache, plus sharp pain in jaw when trying to eat, for over a month now. Dr gave me antibiotics but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this please?
